Stunning villa with everything we needed and superb views. Everything worked and we had all we need to include a baby. The washing line needs repair. It would have been helpful to be given advice that it is quite intimidating driving up to the villa from Bagni di Lucca, and that we should only rent a very small vehicle. The Australians and Americans in our group really struggled with the road and the access to the villa itself.

Excellent accommodation

There were eight of us, all adults, staying at this villa and it was perfect for us. It felt well maintained, almost new, and the position and outlook were exceptional. The local area was beautiful, really easy to get around, and the locals were very friendly. I would highly recommend this property and area for a holiday and would love to go back.

Beautiful stay in Tuscany

The House and the area is even more beautiful and authentic than on the pictures. Overall we had great holidays in the villa. Only thing we were not aware of was, that the pool is closed in the winter month and was therefore not usable during our stay in October.

30th Anniversary Trip with Family

The Villa was absolutely perfect for 8 of us - my husband & I plus 3 of our adult children each with their partner. All couples enjoyed a large room with bathroom, and there were still 2 extra bedrooms unused. The large deck was wonderful, pool and view magnificent. The only drawback was the road leading to the Villa is extremely narrow and not accessible with a van or large vehicle. We highly recommend if staying in Tuscany/Florence area.

Beautiful house with an amazing view!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay near Bagni di Lucca, a lovely area we'd not visited before. The property was perfect for our group, wonderfully clean with all we needed, and lots of space to spread out. The pool had the most spectacular location and was perfect for lazy afternoons (and mornings, and evenings!) A particular highlight was a meal prepared by Adriana, which was delicious on the night - and kept us fed for several more! I can't recommend the property highly enough!

Beautiful house in the hills

Lovely villa in a beautiful location. The house is very comfortable and has everything you we needed. The kitchen was really well equipped. The lounge was huge and the smart tv was a bonus. Bedrooms were large and beds comfy. Most rooms have an en suite too. The outside areas are perfect for eating with the backdrop of Tuscan hills and view over Bagni Di Lucca. The pool is perfect and has lots of sun loungers. There are lots of nice restaurants, towns and other things to explore nearby. Overall the villa was excellent and very private. The owners were very helpful too.

Great family holiday

We had the most wonderful week at this property. It is extremely well provisioned and the accommodation is magnificent. The weather was very hot and we ate out every mealtime. We were able to keep the house cool by careful management of the shutters despite the very hot temperature. We had an issue with the wifi which the owners were very helpful in sorting out as promptly as was possible. The position of the property is absolutely stunning, with wonderful views. We were a family group with a 4 month old and couldn't have wished for a better place to relax together.

Tuscan paradise

Wow just about sums the villa up. The location is jaw dropping on the edge of a pretty hamlet with views you only normally see in glossy magazines. The house and pool are lovely, spotless with plenty of space and so well equipped. All the bedrooms have beautiful vistas down into the valley or up into the mountains. The area has loads of lovely ( and cheap ) restaurants and there are a range of shops and supermarkets a few minutes drive to the nearest town. If you want a peaceful break, with great views in a stunning house, stay here!! Can't wait to come back.

John and Patricia could not have been more accommodating. Responding quickly to every inquiry.

Like many previous commentaries, it is an adventure first finding the villa. Me missed the last turn, but had assistance from friendly neighbors, who redirected us. Once you get used to the drive from Bagni di Lucca, it is relatively easy. Small cars or small SUV’s work best. We had a fabulous meal from Adriana and enjoyed the pool and the view. Traveled to several towns, including Cinque Terra, Viareggio and Lucca. Highly recommend the villa for couples or families.

Perfect stay for up to 12 people

We enjoyed the stay a lot, could not have been better. Place was clean, there is plenty of space, a well equipped kitchen, a big grill, outside fridge, pool area, big table inside and outside. Nice view, nice area with helpful people and abundant one-day-activities around. Drive there is a little bit difficult. You can get there with a 5 series BMW with sport suspension, I tested. Any bigger (or lower) car might get stuck though. Parking in Guzzano and walk the rest might be possible, its only two minutes to walk.

Villa La Dioma

What an absolutely beautiful spot. The Villa was everything we hoped for and the view was spectacular! Cuoco Adriana made us a fabulous meal on our second night. The road down to the villa is a bit tricky but we mastered it on no time. Just be patient and slow. The location was perfect for our travels to Pisa , Firenze and Cinque Terre! Each doable in a day and back in time for a late dinner on the terrace. Make sure you leave enough room for the garbage man to turn around or you will hear him yell throughout the valley. Thank you Patricia and John for sharing your beautiful villa!

Amazing!!

Hard to describe how magical our stay was! The location and the home are absolutely beautiful! We had 12 people with 2 families and were very comfortable. We cooked most of our meals in the home with a big fire in the stove. I was concerned about being cold in such a big home in the winter but we were toasty warm the entire time just using the fireplaces. We rarely even turned on the heaters. We rented a 9 passenger van for our family which worked just fine as long as you are patient in making the corners on the road to the home. We felt like it was centrally located as we took day trips to Rome, Venice and Cinque Terre. It was a lot of driving but so worth it! We all looked forward to relaxing with the amazing view when we got home! We would love to go back in the summer to utilize the pool! Thank you so much for sharing your home and answering so many of my questions. Memories with my kids I will treasure forever.

Absolutely stunning views

If I could give 10 stars for the views, I would! The home is set in the mountains above Bagni di Lucca and has nearly 360 degree views of from the terrace. Words almost cannot describe it - I felt peaceful and happy waking up to it every morning. The house itself fairly easily fit all 12 of our guests (and nearly all rooms had their own full bathroom). Our 8 kids loved the pool (although were a little surprised it was salt water). Just a few things to be prepared for - the house is hard to access. We had a 9 passenger mini van and could not even enter the little village leading to the home so had to park on the edge of the villlage and walk. The road leading from Bagni di Lucca to the house is very scary to drive until you get used to it. Lots of Italians driving very fast - be sure to beep your horn as you go around the corners. The house itself also lacked a few things - there is only one garbage can for recycles but you then you have to take it to the village and separate them into paper, plastic, etc. We also did a lot of dishes because there didn't seem to be enough cups for our group. Also note there is no air conditioning and unfortunately no screens on the windows (and lots of bugs!). My city kids had a very hard time with the heat since they didn't want to leave the windows open and sleep with critters. We just kept telling them that this was the Tuscan experience! Overall a fine house.

Five star stay!

We spent nearly two weeks at La Dioma in October of 2019 and it was just what we were looking for. We wanted a quiet place to escape and restore during a time of sabbatical from work and other commitments and this certainly was an excellent choice. While the drive from Bagni Di Lucca is intimidating, after several days we were navigating it (nearly) like the locals. DO NOT attempt a large vehicle as there are several very tight passages in Guzzano just before you arrive at the house and take caution on the many curves on the road approaching. Take your time,,,the locals may tailgate, honk and be frustrated with you but in the end what matters is arriving safely. The views from the home are of course stunning and the seclusion was welcomed as the neighboring homes are a bit of a distance away. The traditional stone, tile and timber home was beautiful, clean and well cared for inside and out. Housekeeping came mid-stay for new linens and a cleanup which was welcomed. It was too cold to use the pool but we would have felt very private had we done so. The home itself is furnished well and although there were only two of us it would certainly host a large group well. Dining at Bar Santini in San Cassiano was delightful and we had a few informal meals in BDL but we prepared most of our meals in the well equipped kitchen at home. Definitely take advantage of the markets in Fornoli and Bagni Di Lucca on the given days to collect your produce and other items. The several supermarkets in town had most all we needed. Prices at both restaurants and grocers were surprisingly reasonable with our nicest four course meals costing €30-40 for the two of us! We had a cook come in to prepare a meal one evening which was fantastic and would have fed six people and the fee was very reasonable! There are too many cute little towns and restaurants to list but one of our favorites was the cliff city of Montefegatesi. Make sure to walk to the top to see the view from the Dante memorial as it is breathtaking! Most of the locals do not speak English but with our little bit of Italian, Google Translater and a good deal of sign language and gesturing we made out well and it added to the adventure! If your only experience in Italy has been Rome, Florence, Pisa, etc, we can highly recommend visiting this most beautiful part of this very special country and can highly recommend La Dioma!

Perfekter Urlaub

Das Ferienhaus von John & Patricia hĂ€lt wirklich was es verspricht und wie es auf den Bildern prĂ€sentiert wird. Die Lage und der Blick sind atemberaubend, allerdings sollte man maximal mit einem Kombi anreisen, da das letzte StĂŒck zum Haus extrem eng ist. WĂŒrden immer wieder hinfahren!

Traumhafter Ort zum entspannen

Gut ausgestattetes Haus in ruhiger Lage mit ĂŒberwĂ€ltigender Aussiecht. Den ganzenTag Sonne am Haus und Pool. Waren mit zwei Familien, 8 Personen, dort und hatten einen wunderbaren Urlaub. Kann ich nur empfehlen. TagesausflĂŒge in die umliegen StĂ€dte sind problemlos möglich wenn man ein Auto besitzt. Das das WLAN einige Tag nicht funktioniert hat war im Nachhinein betrachtet sehr erholsam. Kann ich nur empfehlen.

Gesamteindruck sehr gut

Wir fĂŒhlten uns sehr wohl in dem Haus. Die Anfahrt ist mit breiten und langen Fahrzeugen (Kombis oder Van) nicht einfach. Was wir empfehlen wĂŒrden, ist die Anschaffung eines Wasserkochers und einer herkömmlichen Kaffeemaschine, da fĂŒr die vielen Personen die Wartezeiten auf Kaffee sehr lang sind (weil nur eine Espressomaschine vorhanden ist). Eine normale Kaffeekanne mit FilterbehĂ€lter wĂ€re auch schon hilfreich. Pfannen und Töpfe sind sehr abgenutzt und die Beschichtung sehr beschĂ€digt. War fĂŒr uns kein großes Problem, aber bei empfindlichen GĂ€sten könnte das Ärger bringen. Aber wir waren insgesamt sehr begeistert von dem Haus und auch der superguten Empfehlung fĂŒr eine Köchin, die man engagieren kann.

Sehr schöne Location. Haus ist sehr schön und liegt traumhaft in den Bergen. Ausstattung sehr gut und alles sauber. Pool liegt traumhaft. Überall viel Sonne. Wunderschöner Blick. In 10 min. ist man in Bagni. Anfahrt etwas tricky, aber auch mit großem Auto machbar. Kontakt zum Vermieter problemlos. Antwort kam immer sehr schnell. W-Lan vorhanden. Jederzeit wieder. Franziska

SituĂ©e en montagne, la maison est typique de celles du coin. Elle possĂšde une belle terrasse et une jolie et spacieuse piscine.Durant cette pĂ©riode de canicule, on se rend compte qu’elle n’est pas conçue pour la chaleur Ă©crasante. Elle n’a pas de climatisation et parasol. Les tonnelles sont petites pour 9 adultes et trois petits enfants.La barriĂšre de la terrasse est pas sĂ©curisĂ©e pour des enfants de moins de 2 ans.L’accĂšs pour y aller n’est pas facile. Il faut opter pour une petite voiture haute.Le ramassage des ordures est bien folklorique avec des rippers bien zĂ©lĂ©s pour le tri.Bref, bonne vacances, chaudes en famille sans trop de dĂ©placement. Les villes Toscanes sont assez Ă©loignĂ©es. On choisit alors la montagne et le vtt quand on en a.

Bella vacanza!

Siamo stati qui in tre famiglie con bambini e siamo stati benissimo. Spazi ampi anche dentro casa, proprietari super gentili e disponibili.in estate con l'uso della piscina deve essere ancora meglio! La casa Ăš isolata, i bambini hanno giocato molto anche all'esterno, senza disturbare nessuno. Da lĂŹ siamo andati a Lucca, Pisa, zoo di Pistoia (NB i tempi sono lunghi, ci vuole un'oretta di macchina per andare a Lucca e anche di piĂč a Pisa). Unica pecca della casa: abbiamo trovato molte stoviglie/pentole sporche e alcune cimici morte in giro per casa.

La casa e stupenda, praticamente ogni camera ha il Proprio bagno privato. Unica nota negativa siamo arrivati e c’era pieno di cimici in casa

Patricia and John come from a Hertfordshire village. John is a retired quantity surveyor and Patricia a retired HR consultant. They have two grown-up children who love spending time at La Dioma , either chilling out in the lovely hot summers or skiing and snowboarding in the winter. John and Patricia also have two little grandchildren who adore coming on holiday to La Dioma, especially swimming and jumping in the pool!
One of the first rental owners in the Bagni di Lucca area, John and Patricia have an established history of 16 years of renting their holiday home to very happy guests from all over the world - as their guestbook will testify!

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

We spent three weeks in Italy looking for a small holiday home with no land. We found La Dioma, a three storey detached house with 34 acres of land! We fell in love with the spectacular peaceful location and the magnificent views of the mountains and the pretty town of Bagni di Lucca in the valley below. The original features of the house were covered with plaster, but initial prodding revealed huge period chestnut beams, cotto tiles, fireplaces and rock walls. We set about lovingly restoring La Dioma to its former beauty. After two years, the house was renovated, furniture purchased and the magnificent swimming pool and sun-bathing terrace finished. Patricia learnt Italian, and John - let's say it's work in progress! We feel very privileged to own our own corner of Tuscany with our property known locally as "paradiso"!

Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig

Apart from the stunning natural beauty and tranquility of the area, staying at La Dioma is a real Italian experience. This is not an area of mass tourism. Our neighbours are busy going to work, tending vegetable gardens, making wine and olive oil, picking mushrooms, hunting wild boar and stacking wood for the winter. They may not speak much English but they are incredibly kind, hardworking, fun-loving and friendly. Everything revolves around the family and often food! There are so many great local restaurants and cafes with authentic and reasonably-priced food, it is difficult to decide which one to go to! On the other hand, barbecuing lazily on the terrace with a few beers or a bottle of wine, and popping into the swimming pool and soaking up the lovely views, isn't a bad option either!
