Gatehouse Westen am Colmer Landgut ist ein warmes und geschmackvoll eingerichtete Ferienhaus. Es befindet sich auf der Westseite des Kanals, die sich zur großen Außenpool hin öffnet. Sehr komfortabel eingerichtet das Haus einen nach Süden suntrap Garten genießt und ist ideal für Paare und Familien, die in alle frönen, dass Colmer zu bieten hat.

Der Stein gebaute Hütte ist in 28 Morgen privaten Grundstück, das Wald, ein See zum Angeln und Wiesen sind. Es gibt einen großen Gemeinschafts beheizten Außenpool (beheizt Ende Mai bis Ende August) und einen Innenpool, der das ganze Jahr beheizt wird. Neben den Wald und Weide gibt es einen schönen ummauerten Garten Kinder einen sicheren Platz zum Spielen zu geben. Es gibt auch einen ruhigen und geschützten Ort zum Lesen und Entspannen. Colmer liegt zentral im Herzen der South Hams, einem Gebiet von außergewöhnlicher Schönheit, in der Nähe der attraktivsten Städte wie Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth und Modbury entfernt. Schöne Strände und envigorating Spaziergänge an der Küste sind innerhalb von 20 Minuten mit dem Auto und Dartmoor Nationalpark ist nur 8 Meilen entfernt. Dies ist ein wunderbares Urlaubsziel mit fantastischen Einrichtungen vor der Haustür und an vielen Orten innerhalb der weitläufigen Gelände von diesem schönen Ort für diejenigen, die Frieden und Ruhe. We had a lovely stay, warmly welcomed by our host. The onsite amenities were great particularly the swimming pool much loved by us. Great location next to a farm shop/cafe close to Modbury town.

Beautiful place to stay

We enjoy 2 weeks in this beautiful little place which is ideally situated close to lots of places to visit. The swimming pool provided many hours of happy swimming for my son. The cottage was comfortable with all we needed and in such a peaceful location.

It is a lovely property,warm and cosy. The grounds are lovely to walk around even in the rain. The indoor pool was great especially with a 9year who enjoyed the daily visits and the fact it was only for one family at a time

Quiet location with great facilities

Great little cottage for our family with dog. Kids loved the pools even the outside one despite the cold air temperatures. Only wished there was a clothes airer which l could pop outside to dry wet beech stuff in the garden. Other than that it was well equipped.

Property was fine, The grounds need a good maintenance team to look after the place it's mostly overgrown and untidy, wanted to go fishing but this was impossible do to the overgrown weeds, grandson and myself only booked this for the fishing, will not be returning unless these issues have been addressed so sad this totally spoilt the holiday

Dear guest. I am sorry you felt that you had a poor holiday although you liked the property. This was a very disappointing review because of the following reasons. The Colmer Estate is set in 28 acres of woodland and pasture. This area is rural countryside and is not meant to be manicured and tweaked. We are not an urban holiday park. The area around the properties, tennis court, swimming pools, walled garden has a weekly team of people who maintain it to a high standard. The lake area is situated by the woods so half of the lake is surrounded by some trees and bushes. However, the other side of the lake is surrounded by lawned grass and a couple of pontoons which I have never seen access to being difficult. I guess the lake is quite low at the moment due to the extremely hot and dry Summer. I have checked back on the conversation from yourself during booking and there was no communication from yourself regarding your holiday or expectations. You did not ask about the lake or anything about the Estate. You did not ask about fishing and you did not respond to the information I gave you. If you had I might have been able to have set your expectations better. Disappointingly you also broke the curtain rail in the children’s bedroom and did not let me know which I should have charged you for but I am not in the habit of chasing money. We normally have 5 star reviews with excellent comments on this site and another popular booking site. Best wishes. Mike and Sarah

Lovely location

Colmer estate is well maintained and the indoor swimming is such a bonus out of season. Only downside on the location is that the roads between Modbury and A38 are so busy. The estate is teeming with wildlife. The owners are easy to contact and so helpful. Many thanks to them

Hi Jenny I am very pleased the long stay worked out for you and that you enjoyed the cottage and the Colmer estate from our telephone calls. The road between Modbury and the A38 is narrow in parts which causes traffic to queue at times which maybe makes it feel busier than it is. I guess you were using that road a lot as you were visiting family in Plymouth. Normally holiday makers would be heading in the opposite direction to reach the beaches and other small towns such as Salcombe. Anyway, once again I am glad it all worked out for you and maybe we will see you on another occasion when you visit the UK again. Best wishes Sarah and Mike

Highly recommend

Lovely property and complex. The property had everything we needed. It's was spotless and beautiful. The owners were so nice to deal with. I made a mistake with my booking & Sarah was so helpful. The complex has great facilities. We stayed on site a couple of days because it's beautiful and there was more than enough to entertain our kids. On the other days we didn't have beach weather its ideally located between Plymouth & Exeter for the bigger attractions.

Lovely place beautiful surroundings

Cottage lovely next to outdoor pool which is magnificent warm and clean, the grounds are beautiful, we were lucky with weather so had BBQs. Only downside for us was my friend had an accident when returning from pool, tripped on stairs and ended up on Plymouth hospital with broken heel. 12 weeks unable to put weight on foot she was meant to be going to Greece next week, but all cancelled. But of course this was accident nothing to do with the lovely place

Spotless, well stocked and peaceful

A fantastic peaceful short break in an ideal location - with such a few days, it was a welcome relief for me not to have to clean (as is sometimes the case 😖) - the cottage was spotless, a bottle of wine welcomed us and all the appliances/utensils were practically new - the owners could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable and i would highly recommend this bolt hole to anyone wishing to explore the area. The only pity was that the outdoor pool was not yet heated but the indoor pool was practically empty most days and since both on our doorstep, we made plenty of use of it! Places of particular beauty: Mothercombe Beach and Hay Tor rocks on Dartmoor a must!

Nice stay

Property is nice and very well equipped, definitely wouldn’t recommend taking your dog mind with stringent rules from both the owner and estate, dog friendly is a very inappropriate description. Beds are comfy and everything you need for a relaxing week, aside from perhaps a couple of pint glasses in the kitchen, the cooker was also very noisy due to fan and couldn’t get the TV to work but had fortunately taken our NowTv box. Loads of places to recommend near by including Salcombe, Hope Cove, Kingsbridge and Bigbury. Also well equipped Spar and pub up the road. Highly recommend local garden/craft centre at Avon Mill and butchers at Loddisham. Could be more recycling conscious on the site though and bin area was atrocious. Cottage and surrounding area recommended but the estate itself needs to do more.

Thank you for your review and we are pleased you liked the cottage. With reference to your comments about dogs, we do take dogs but ask they do not go upstairs or up onto the furniture. Upstairs is carpeted so harder to clean with respect to dog hairs. We also take a lot of guests without dogs so we are aware that guests in general do not want dog hairs etc lingering, especially in the bedrooms. The same applies to the furniture. We do let dog owners know of this in their information pack. With regard to the Estate, we do have sheep grazing so again dogs must be kept under control. Also, there are other guests staying in the other cottages who will not have dogs so it is trying to be respectful of everyone staying at Colmer. We do ask owners to pick up after their dog. This would be expected in all public areas and again is just being respectful of other people. I agree with you totally that we need to have recycling facilities at Colmer and is something we are personally working on. There is bottle recycling in the California Cross pub car park but agree Colmer should have their own facilities. We have taken on board what you have said about the bin area in general and have passed these on to our Estate Manager. Thank you again and we are pleased that you had a good holiday.

Great family holiday

An excellent location with a great variety of activities to keep my teen age son engaged. The service was top class and very professional and I would certainly be looking to book a cottage here again in the future

Great location

We had a great time. Enjoyed the pools and estate, easy walk to local shop and nice pub and short drive to fab beaches.

Delightful place to stay

Comfortable and clean cottage, well appointed, with great facilities on site and attentive owner. Would definitely go back for another stay.

We are a family of 4 who enjoy the outdoors. With relatives living in Modbury, we have enjoyed visits to the South Hams area for many years. The cottage is just 2 hours drive away from our home in Frome, Somerset where Sarah works as a physio and I work as an Engineer. We love going to the cottage ourselves and love the Colmer Estate and the beautiful South Hams area of Devon - we hope you will love it as well.

We weren't even looking to buy a holiday home in April 2015, when we saw the details for Gate House West in an estate agents window, whist waiting for pasties from the adjacent deli to be warmed up. We were intrigued, viewed the property, fell in love with the potential of what we saw, and just three months later were the new owners. Why did we fall in love with it? Well, as you can see from the pictures, it was impossible for a family that loves swimming, tennis and peace and tranquillity not to! By April 2016 we had completed a major refurbishment and redecoration of the cottage. We are really pleased with the result and we are sure that you will be too!

Excellent on site communal facilities shared by just a handful of guests. The pools and tennis court were the main attractions for us plus the location, making it our ideal bolt hole.
