Thank you for your feedback and we are happy that you enjoyed the surrounding area and the beautiful beaches. We’re sorry some aspects of the rural setting affected your stay. Little creek voles and the myriad of birdlife are part of this creek-side rural location and why the area is often described as a nature paradise. The narrow Devon lanes are unfortunately outside our control. Parking has always been fine for two cars outside the cottage, which is a major plus as many other properties have either no parking or just room for one car; two large SUVs will naturally be tighter. The steps and access are shown clearly in the photos, and the cot was brand new, it had only been used once before. Had you reported it as broken during your stay, we would happily have replaced it immediately. We could have had a word with the neighbours had you informed us about the dog mess. The spring-fed water supply and the request to space showers during the extreme drought conditions the country was experiencing were communicated before arrival to prevent the inconvenience of temporarily running out of water. In order to mitigate this situation in future (with increasingly hotter and longer summers) we are currently in the process of linking up to mains water. We always ask guests to contact us promptly so we can help resolve issues during the stay, unfortunately we had no such calls from you nor did our cleaning company who always deal with issues immediately as they are on the spot.

We found out later that there had been a gradual water leak from the immersion heater in the upstairs bathroom into the ceiling of the playroom which eventually led to the ceiling collapsing. This accounted for the smell. The leak has been cured, ceiling has now been replaced and new carpets fitted. Consequently the smell is no longer there.
