Das Acadia Yurts befindet sich auf einem 5 Hektar großen, bewaldeten Grundstück inmitten des Acadia-Nationalparks und bietet einen ruhigen Rückzugsort für Ihre Gruppe (bis zu 4 Gäste pro 24 'Jurte, 6 Gäste für die 30' Jurte oder 2 Gäste pro Tiny House). Acadia Yurts ist auch ideal für große Reisegruppen mit Unterkünften für bis zu 34 Personen an einem Ort.

Eine Jurte ist eine zeltähnliche kreisförmige Stoffstruktur mit einem Holzgitterrahmen, der von den Nomadenstämmen in Asien stammt. Diese dauerhaften, farbenfrohen Strukturen haben dicke Außenwände aus Segeltuch, die eine reflektierende Isolierung und eine hocheffiziente Wärmepumpen- / Wechselstromeinheit enthalten, sodass Sie sich zu jeder Jahreszeit wohlfühlen können. Great home away from home!

The yurt was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for cooking meals. The laundry shed had an abundance of games and books and other extras to check out and share (like camp chairs to view the sunrise on Cadillac Mtn.) The location was close enough to other restaurants, shops, etc. but remote enough to be away from traffic. Loved it!

Best Family Vaca!

Acadia Yurts is just what we needed to reset and relax before the business of the school year begins! This simple way of living in the most quaint town in Maine with water and mountains 5 minutes away had everything we needed. Karen and Aaron have quite the operation going and have inspired us to downsize in our own home and enjoy the little things more! The yurt was larger than expected and had all the amenities we could ask for, even beach towels! I cannot say enough amazing things about this magical spot in the woods. We will be back and am already recommending to friends! Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Cozy glamping

We enjoyed the yurt and its location a great deal. Karen greeted us in person, and Aaron and Karen take good care of the properties and guests. The yurt has all the necessities and the decor is simple and elegant; everything was comfortable and convenient. Being in the woods in a cabin-like yurt fit right into the spirit of our hiking vacation. The location was perfect for us. We liked staying in Southwest Harbor with its small downtown. It had a handful of wonderful local restaurants and shops, away from the heavily commercialized Bar Harbor area. Conveniently, there was a grocery store just over 5 min away, and several feet outside of the yurts, you step onto roads going through the woods of Acadia Park. I enjoyed going on morning runs there a few times. Some of the hikes we went on were only a few minutes’ drive from the yurts. We would go back in a heartbeat to the area and to Acadia Yurts.

Le calme de la nature, le confort de la maison

Très belle semaine dans cette yourte. L'endroit est propre et bien situé. Il y a tout le nécessaire pour cuisiner. Étant un peu plus éloignés du centre de Bar Harbor, nous avons pu découvrir une nouvelle partie du parc Acadia que nous ne connaissions pas. Les sentiers à moins de 5 minutes de route étaient magnifiques. Nous y retournerons, c'est certain.

Yes for Yurt

We were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful out yurt and the property were. Anything we needed was there. Comfortable beds and bedding, hot water and good water pressure, a community fire pit, chairs and picnic tables for morning coffee, games and cards- it was a perfect way to be comfortable in nature. We will stay again the next time we visit Maine!

Perfect home base

We loved our stay at Acadia Yurts! It was the most ideal spot for all the places we wanted to visit. A easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor and also very close to the quieter side of Acadia. The other reviews are true- the shower is amazing after a long day out hiking! We are already trying to get family to go and stay. Highly recommend just booking it!

Peaceful Oasis in Southwest Harbor

We absolutely loved our time in the Dorr Mountain yurt. Incredibly spacious, stocked with all cooking needs, and thoughtful touches making the space super cozy. Highly recommend!

Great getaway spot in close proximity to Acadia NP!

The Dorr Mountain yurt was the perfect getaway spot that was close to Acadia National Park. The yurt was well stocked with easy access to additional items such as onsite laundry. The yurt was clean and comfortable for our family of four. Communication from the owner was great.

Must stay

A yurt vacation is a bucket list item and if you’re going to do it, this is the place. Our hosts were the best and literally were available for anything we needed, even when we requested last minute flashlights so we could hike Cadillac Mountain in the dark to arrive a sunrise (another bucket list item and must do). The location was ideal for both enjoying Acadia and all it has to offer as well as proximity to all 3 harbors. Every recommendation they had for food and activities was spot on. Oh…and eat at Beal’s…best seafood on MDI. Thanks for a vacation to remember and we’ll definitely be back.

Everything we needed & more!

Aaron & Karen are awesome and know how to ensure guests are relaxed, comfortable, and taken care of! The yurt was a fantastic way to be "comfortably" close to nature, easy access to EVERYTHING Acadia offers, and all the little considerations were evident. The property is wonderful, the water pressure from every faucet/shower was AMAZING, and even the sound machine to ensure the birds didn't wake us too early was a lovely and useful surprise! HIGHLY RECOMMEND to any family traveling to the area that wants to "camp" without camping!

A Very Special Place

What a GEM! This was one of the greatest highlights of our visit to Acadia. We were pleasantly shocked at how spacious the Yurt was. Everything was so comfy and cozy but we never got in each another's way...there were 4 of us. The water pressure was remarkable, makes showering after a long day of trekking a joy. We enjoyed coffee outside our yurt every morning and tea in the evening. The kids had a blast. Our hosts were great, Aaron greeted us our first day in the rain and guided us to our unit. We'll be back with friends and family next time.

Amazing stay - highly recommend!

This was a perfect landing spot for our family’s first vacation with our 7-week-old. We were able to easily access Acadia National Park and the nearby downtown of Southwest Harbor was adorable. The yurt was clean, comfortable, and had everything you could dream of needing for a vacation stay. We even utilized the lobster pot one evening to steam our own fresh lobster thanks to great recommendation from the owners Aaron and Karen. A perfect stay!!

A must stay for a visit to Acadia

Staying at the Acadia Yurts was one of the highlights of our trip to Acadia. The Yurts are spacious, clean, well designed, and came with literally everything we needed for our visit. The bed and couches were extremely comfortable. The yurts sit on a beautiful piece of forested property and made us feel very close to nature throughout our stay. We were even able to charge our EV overnight at an outdoor outlet on site. Karen and Aaron were extremely responsive to our questions before and during our stay and went above and beyond to make our trip perfect. During the first night of our stay, a major storm knocked out power to most of the greater Acadia / Mount Desert Island region and by 7 am they already had emergency breakfast/coffee, and a generator running in their wellness center, allowing their guests to start their day without a hitch. These Yurts are a no brainier if you are planning a trip to Acadia with a car. If you opportunity to book a Yurt here, consider yourself lucky!

Zu Gast bei Karen Roper

Aaron is an Maine native. He was born and raised across the bridge in Trenton and grew up attending local Bar Harbor schools. He has worked in the restaurant industry for the past 15+ years beginning as a prep cook in high school then moving toward general manager. Aaron's favorite extracurricular activity is learning all he can about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As often as he can, he trains locally and loves sharing this passion with others.

Karen is a transplant. Originally from Chicago she made her way to Maine in 2009 and fell in love immediately. In Acadia she enjoys hiking, trail running, yoga, and long walks on the carriage roads. Karen has been teaching yoga locally for over 6 years and now brings her practice to the Wellness Center (located on site at Acadia Yurts). Karen is also a licensed massage therapist and offers services onsite.

As a couple we have done quite a bit of traveling and through that we have narrowed down the particular way we like to travel. The biggest factor for us is having a furnished kitchen in order to prepare health minded foods to nourish our bodies and support all our outdoor activities. The idea for Acadia Yurts has been brewing for quite some time. Friends of ours live off the grid in a yurt and we greatly appreciate the rustic, romantic feel of the yurt but wanted some of the comforts of home- running water, heat, electricity. From there Acadia Yurts was born. We deeply hope you enjoy our home as much as we do!!
