This is such a beautiful unit in Maui. You can see whales out in the distance from the balcony and walk up to a little patch of beach to take a dip in. Absolutely will book here again next visit! Aloha. :)

The cleaning team did a good job getting the place ready, but the unit itself is very old and needs remodeling. The wood throughout the unit looks outdated, and we saw roaches every other day during our stay.Having carpet in a beach house isn’t a great idea and it made us question how clean it really was. The doors, windows, kitchen utensils, and bathroom are all extremely old, which made us wish we had stayed in a newer apartment instead.The view is beautiful, but the inside of the unit really needs improvement.

Reviewer Comments: Hale Kai has a wonderful beachfront setting in northwest Maui, with easy access by car to a wealth of excellent beaches for swimming and snorkeling. The building is low-rise, small-scale, and free from the overbuilt feeling of many Hawaii resorts. We loved watching sunset and sunrise from our lanai, listening to the waves through the night, and making Hale Kai our home for the week.

The unit hasn't been modernized, but it is quaint and comfortable. We had everything we needed for our stay. We love the location of the Hale Kai. It's so convenient to be near the shops and the park. The pool is lovely. The Sunset Conch shell blowing is a delightful tradition.

Reviewer Comments: Our stay was great.The only problem we had was that there was no management available for the pool and lounging area .Some kids and there parents had no regard for the facilities or the rest of the people that used made it nearly impossible to use while these people were in attendance.

Wonderful Stay!!!

Turtles right outside our door every afternoon, whales jumping fun the distance and a pool right on the ocean. Most of the other renters were wonderful inviting us to participate in their sunset conch blowing ceremonies. I would say that it was less relaxing when a lot of children were present in the pool as it is a small complex and they tend to take over being very loud. But it is a small complex and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The condo was very clean and perfect for our needs.

Great location and views

The location was great as Kaanapali always has breezes for cooling and this condo has access to both a public beach to the left of the building and a private beach to the right. Also Kaanapali has great infrastructure so no fear of flooding.Grounds and pool are very well maintained by Monday to Friday manager who works those days and on the weekend an onsite owner.Got to see turtles very close up on the beach eating seaweed off the coral, saw monk seal catching and eating fish off shore and lots of whales far off shore.Note if you are looking for peace and quiet this condo may not for you as you get to continually hear the surf and with louvered screed windows open to allow air flow you do hear your neighbors normally generated sounds. Also on the Lanai the wall between you and your neighbor does not extend all the way to the railing (see picture). They do have quiet hours implemented 10PM to 8AM but because of the nature of having the louvered screened windows open in all the units you do hear some noise from your neighbors after 10 but its not bad, just a warning if you are looking for complete quiet and peace then this unit not from you.The cabinets and walls in bathroom could be updated as well worn but all was very clean and easily usable so for the price it was fine.

Great time/not a great room

Bedroom doors are off the tracks.(tried several times to fix finally gave up) We tried to keep our place tidy but the vacuum did not work and broom was falling apart. They have just 1 fan and it was duck taped together and was very weak. No cleaning supplies were provided. Glass table tops and counters need to be cleaned daily. The shower was interesting.. water pressure good but not the easiest to climb into. Very odd high tile. Several of the kitchen cabinets would not close and the garbage (under the sink fell off) Actually it was a really nice place. It needs a little love. And the carpet was a little weird too. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent 10 glorious days at Hale Kai in units 214 and 215. They are in a perfect location for all manner of Maui activities. Great sidewalks for walking. Easy to get to the stores and restaurants and best part was it was whale watching season. We didn't want to go anywhere since the views were outstanding. We saw hundreds of humpbacks spy hopping, tail slapping and spouting. Also, the green sea turtles hang around the beach everyday. It was a real treat. The condos were well appointed. Just wish we had brought our binoculars.
