Hale Kai is a wonderful and cozy retreat. The complex has a mix of longer term vacationers and short term visitors. The long timers have a lovely tradition at sunset that is open to all. Hale Kai is walkable to a small business strip, making a morning stroll for coffee easy. You can really feel at home in paradise in a place like Hale Kai.

The view and location are excellent. It was great to have the pool and beach just a few steps away. The unit was very clean and well appointed. With any open air unit, even with screens, it’s bound to get warm in the unit so if you need a/c, this wouldn’t be comfortable for you. We arrived to the unit after staying six nights at a brand new resort so it was a big difference after staying in air conditioned rooms with an onsite pool bar. The ocean sounds at night were peaceful. The traffic noise in the master bedroom died down by around 10p (and wasn’t that bad) and not noticeable in the 2nd twin bedroom. Something worth noting is that even with all the proactive measures by management and exemplary cleanliness, there will be bugs and little lizards that get into the unit. If that doesn’t bother you (like it did my kids), then this is a wonderful option for your stay in Maui.

We were there about mid January and had great views of whales. The unit is comfortable and clean, plenty of room for 3 or 4 people. Nearby there is a great coffee shop and bakery, and a Boss Frogs.

Amazing view and quiet area

This ground unit has excellent views, house is very clean and staffs are friendly. Apartment doesn’t have AC, but most of time is comfortable . Really love it!

My family and I (2 adults and 2 grown kids) thoroughly enjoyed the pool, snorkeling with sea turtles, and the proximity to great coffee (Bad *** Coffee is fantastic) and other amenities. The places is simple but quiet, safe, and centrally located. Super clean, everything works, and the grills outside are a gem.

Reviewer Comments: Unit 120 is in a good location on the property Easy access to the bbq and poolUnit has a nice bathroom and shower The kitchen is tiny and narrow with room for one person at a time and the refrigerator door blocks entry into the kitchen Dishes and cooking pans are minimal with out any plastic dishes/ glasses to take poolside.Furniture is pretty and by adding some bedroom pillows was comfortable Renters need to know that the pool is not heated so not kid friendly although most renters are older couples with out children

A true Maui Gem

Reviewer Comments: Love the Hale Kai & have stayed In 1 bedroom units several times in addition to numerous times in Unit 120 (which is the very best location just steps from the ocean & a small beach). There are two well-maintained BBQ's on the property as well. We were treated to watching whales breaching nearly every day of our stay! The unit was very clean and property managers (Valerie #1 and Valerie #2) are the best and quick to respond to any questions or needs. The fact the deadbolt on the front door does not work should be corrected promptly as that is a safety issue and reported to management the day of our arrival. We love the Hale Kai and we will be back!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I'm hesitant to leave a review because I don't want to share our secret little gem! We've stayed at a few other places on the island, and this was our favorite so far. The best part of this unit was the view/location. Nothing like being at the beach or pool in just a few steps. The unit does need some refreshing, but is otherwise very clean. We had some things come up while there and we got help immediately from the office, without a problem. Kudos need to also go to the groundskeeper for working so hard and with such pride every day. We were pleased to find the unit actually had some extra perks like sand toys, beach chairs, cooler, and umbrellas (though the two we tried probably need replacing). If we bought property in Maui, this unit would likely be it. We had a great time, and we were sad to leave.

10/10 – Hervorragend

Simply paradise

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I really didn’t want to write a review because everyone will want to stay here and then it won’t be available when I want to come back. This is my third stay at the Hale Kai. All were great, but I stayed on the side with a view of the park. This unit was so convenient to pool access and the beach where upon arrival we were greeted with a rainbow and a slumbering sea turtle on the beach. We saw breaching whales in the distance as well, but that is march in Maui. Probably not so much any other time of year.The actual accommodations were more than adequate. The dishes and silverware and whole condo had a theme. Beds comfy too. I even preferred to sleep on the couch. Great view and you are lulled to sleep by the waves.The locals that live in the building put up with us travelers and blow a conch at their sunset ceremony every night. Wanna feel like a local? Stay here. But save a week for me...

Sadly I would not recommend it

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The view was absolutely gorgeous but unfortunately that was the only positive aspect of the complex. The whole place was not cleaned, there were dirty dishes in the kitchen cabinets, the floor was sticky, lamps switches were sticky, tons of dust on the lampshades, furniture etc etc.We didn’t have enough sheets for all of the beds but Melody the manager was great with providing what was missing, she also sent a lady to clean the floor but there was way too much beyond the floor. I was disappointed that for what we paid for this stay the apartment was in such a poor condition,All the furniture really should be replaced ( dirty stained chairs and beds) Dirty fans etc etc It wasn’t a pleasant stay but the location and the view were wonderful.

Aloha Brian, I am so sorry you were disapointed. The unit is in the middle of renovation, but the new furniture and glass for the shower did not arrive in time for you arrival. I sincerly apologize about the cleanliness and have spoken to housekeeping. Mahalo, Melody
