About the Home
Happy Clan Cottage offers a reverse floor plan. The main entrance, kitchen, full bathroom with laundry, and dining room are on the main floor. The living room, second full bathroom, and all bedrooms are located on the upper level.

Comfortable Cozy Cottage

Wonderful! Each time we visit Montreat this is always our first choice. The cottage is consistently clean and well-appointed for staying in relaxing, cooking, and close to all that Montreat and Black Mountain have to offer.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was a good location in Montreat, close walking distance to Everything. The house has nice wood details and comfortable bedrooms. hosts were responsive. They are right that the layout is quirky with the kitchen downstairs, but it didn’t matter to us.

Wonderful cottage and host

My family has been going to Montreat in summers for six generations, now that we were able to get our granddaughter up there this summer. Happy Clan Cottage is situated in a great Montreat location for walking anywhere you want to go. Plenty of parking too, which was great since we had three generations of us there. We were so pleased with the cottage and hosts that we recommended it to my sister so she can get her daughters and granddaughter up there next summer. I expect we will be coming back to the great cottage next summer.

Perfect Montreat Getaway

Second time staying here for Thanksgiving. Love this place! My family mostly stays at the Assembly Inn but we have a little group that stays here. Lots of room, great kitchen and laundry. Old house but modern amenities. Very charming.

What great fun at Montreat

The property was very nice. Our family of 7 and one child enjoyed the time there even though it was too too short. The kitchen was well stocked and everything was clean. Beds were comfortable. The stairs were steep and I doubt would be easy for less mobile folks. Access to the niceties of Montreat was perfect. The Lake, playground, hiking trails, and conference center was just right. All in all much appreciated stay from the whole family.

Perfect for church retreat weekend

This cabin was perfect for two families coming for a weekend with our church. The location could not have been better, and the children (ages 6-11) had a great time exploring the house and then grounds! The porch was a perfect place to having our morning coffee and evening wine! Although we did not cook any meals, the kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed! We hope to use the same cabin next year!

Reliving Childhood Memories

We had a sibling reunion to relive our childhood memories of vacationing in Montreat. The Happy Clan Cottage was perfect for us. It was close to the places we remembered (e.g. Lake Susan and Lookout Mountain) and we had fun doing all the things we did as kids. Despite our age (mid 50's to mid 60's), we were thrilled to be able to make it to the top of Lookout Mountain. The website description was accurate and we had everything we needed. We stopped in Black Mountain on our way to Montreat to stock up on groceries. We played board games in the living room at night and laughed a lot around the dining table. The internet worked well, as did the TV. We were very happy staying at the Happy Clan!

Amazing home 2 blocks from the Montreat Conference Center

This stately 100 year old home was perfect for our group: the large living room, dining room and 2nd floor covered porch gave us ample communal space for our group of 8 (7 adults/1 toddler); we never felt claustrophobic even with 3 days of torrential rainstorms! The kitchen was well-appointed with everything you need to cook in (we only ate out once). Two full baths (with full size laundry) was sufficient for our needs. The doors at the top and bottom of the stairs kept our toddler safe and the noise down for late sleepers or nappers. The beds were very comfortable and having sinks in 3 bedrooms decreased the use of the bathrooms for washing hands/brushing teeth. Located two blocks from the Montreat Conference center was awesome. With 4 people attending the conference with differing schedules we could come and go as we pleased. The owners were VERY responsive (we only had a problem with trash pick up due to a holiday) and the home was in very good condition and extremely clean. The "quirky" floor plan (as described by the owner) actually worked very well for our group. We highly recommend the Happy Clan Cottage and will definitely book this home for our next conference!

Historic charm, great location

We needed a full kitchen for our baby and this house was so convenient to where the rest of our group was staying at the Montreat Inn! The house was gorgeous even if the layout was a little weird. Plenty of room for everybody and the kitchen and bathrooms were surprisingly modern.

Convenient, Quiet, Quirky

This property was terrific for my family. It was exactly as described, right down to the quirky character, which we all enjoyed :) The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, and the bathrooms and bedrooms were well appointed. I personally loved the porch and the chair swing (it *may* have been a race between my daughter and myself who could get out there first). The location is so convenient, regardless of whether you want to explore Montreat, Black Mountain, or Ashville. Even though is POURED one whole day we were there, we were able to easily entertain ourselves locally and in the house (my kids decided to put together one of the very detailed puzzles). Thank you for a relaxing weekend get-away!

Wonderful cottage

We had everything we needed in the cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We enjoyed the hammock and the covered porch. Bedroom sizes were perfect for our family and we loved the Montreat feel of the cottage. The cottage is located in a perfect spot and we enjoyed walks to the lake and to the creek. We had a family gathering at the Happy Clan. It was an ideal location to enjoy all the aspects of Montreat: the creek, the children’s play area, the barn dance, Lake Susan.
