Weniger als 1,6 km entfernt befindet sich der Town Hill Market, der für seine köstlichen hausgemachten Sandwiches und Snacks bekannt ist und auf dem Sie den kostenlosen Island Explorer-Shuttle nutzen können. Das Moss Mountain Cottage bietet nicht nur eine großartige Lage, sondern auch ein beheiztes und teilweise klimatisiertes Haus mit einem hellen, geräumigen und offenen Wohn-, Küchen- und Essbereich, einer voll ausgestatteten Küche mit allen neuen Geräten, einer Waschküche und einem Erste Stock Schlafzimmer mit ¾ Bad (Dusche), zwei große Schlafzimmer im Obergeschoss, die ein Vollbad mit Wanne / Dusche-Kombination teilen. This was a great place to stay in Acadia. We had five grown people in our group and we fit completely comfortably in the house. Everything was clean and well stocked; we did not want for anything. The grounds are so well maintained and great fun to hang out in. With a cheerful fire and some cold drinks, hanging out on the patio apres-hike is a perfect summer vacation activity. It's close to the Travelling Lobster and Island Takeout as well. The host is perfectly communicative and had a wonderful welcome package waiting for us. Stay here if you can!!

Peaceful Place

Nice quiet spot tucked away in the privacy of a wooded lot. The landscaping and fire pit add to the relaxing atmosphere. Owners were very responsive and left a wonderful welcome gift. Easy check-in / check-out. Short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Enjoyed our stay.

Great stay!

We had a great experience staying at Moss Mountain Cottage. Everything was very clean and organized and any questions that we had were outlined in a great binder that Jean provided along with brochures and ideas of things to do during our stay. House was super cozy and it made everything super convenient! Definitely felt like a home away from home!

A wonderful Fall vacation on MDI

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moss Mt. Cottage. The property was by far the cleanest and best equipped we’ve stayed at. Jean was the perfect host, answering our questions and making sure we were comfortable even during a power outage. We highly recommend this property, and hope to return!

Terry and her family were wonderful guests and I was so glad to have the opprotunity to meet them - just after the power went back on after being out for some time due to high winds. Since they were visiting from South Florida, they assured me that they were used to power outages and that all was fine. Beside their understanding on this front, they were great at communicating all their needs before and during their trip and gave us a head's up that they'd left early so that we could start cleaning for our next guests. They left the place in great shape and we would love to host them again anytime they visit the island and would highly recommend them to any other property owners.

Beautiful vacation home. Had an extremely well stocked kitchen and lovely outdoor deck. The bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable. We all enjoyed our stay. It was an easy spot to explore Mount Desert Island from. I would highly recommend this rental. Jean had everything set up for us and was easy to communicate with.

My adult family enjoyed our week-long stay at Moss Mountain Cottage. It was very clean and comfortable in a convenient, yet private location. This is one of the most well equipped homes I’ve stayed in. Jean has thought of everything you could need. It’s a very comfortable place and feels more like home than a rental. Jean is great to work with. The location is very convenient. It’s close to Acadia and Bar Harbor.

Wonderful stay away spot during quarantine

The house feels a lot bigger than how it looks from website. It’s beautiful and well stocked and has everything we need. The bedroom is spacious and comfortable. we really enjoyed our stay. The owner Jean is so kind, she goes out of the way to make sure the house is in the best condition and her guests are comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a safe, clean, friendly place to stay in Acadia.

Lovely cottage on MDI

We had a wonderful stay at Moss Mountain Cottage. The property was clean and exactly as described. The beds were comfortable, the cottage was spacious, and it had air conditioning! We appreciated that it was quiet and secluded off the road in a beautiful wooded area. The location was great for exploring the island - easy to get to Bar Harbor, to hiking in Acadia and to the "quiet side" of the island. A bonus is that it is minutes away from our favorite lobster pound, The Travelin Lobster.

Moss Mountain Cottage Gem

We were so lucky to have chosen this cottage for our week long stay in Maine. It's very clean, quiet and we felt very safe staying here during times of COVID. The owners were very thoughtful to provide such a well stocked home for their guests. The king bed was very comfortable and there were nice towels for the bath. Jean provided great communication during our stay. We highly recommend Moss Mountain Cottage for your Maine vacation.

Comfort like home in private setting.

The beds are comfortable and kitchen is well stocked with cookware and pantry items which makes it easy to cook and eat meals at home, which was our preference during Covid. Backyard is quiet with we enjoyed making a fire and watching the stars. It seems like everything on MDI is an easy drive from Moss Mountain Cottage! We explored hiking trails and beaches during the day.

Wonderful cottage

Moss Cottage exceeded our expectations in every way. It was clean, well-appointed, organized and very private. The outside deck and garden/patio were lovely and we enjoyed watching the local wildlife - like the snowshoe rabbit munching on Jean's garden. The location was very convenient and encouraged us to explore the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island. Jean was a great host and made us feel so welcome! I would encourage anyone to stay at Moss Cottage.

What a kind review. Ann's group were wonderful guests who I had the opportunity to briefly meet during their stay. Communications were easy and clear and they left our cottage in great shape. We couldn't have asked for better guests and would highly recommend them to any other owner. Thanks so much Ann and we sincerely hope to see you again at our cottage in the future.

Perfect location just off the beaten path but close enough to Bar Harbor for shopping or restaurants

Jean was so easy to work with and her personal touch to the cottage was such a warm and genuine plus. We loved the cottage, it had everything that we needed and the cleanliness was over the top. We all came down with the flu and took one full day to rest and it was so comfy that we felt at home. We explored the island for 4 full days and looked forward at the end of the day to return to moss mountain cottage. Thank you Jean!!

I built Moss Mountain Cottage in 1988 as a single mother raising my lovely daughter who now lives with her family in Southern California (much too far away)! Now married, I live in downtown Bar Harbor with my husband, across the street from my three lovely granddaughters.
As young girls, my daughter and her cousin spent countless hours combing the backwoods of our property and collecting moss. Their grand plan was to make wreaths to sell to the tourists - leading they were sure - to their fame and fortune. The small hill where they found the best moss, they named 'Moss Mountain.' Although they never sold a wreath (I'm not even sure they completed one), they spent hours in our backyard playing, laughing and planning their futures, as little girls love to do. I'll always treasure those days and those girls, and it is this fond memory that inspired me to name our guest house 'Moss Mountain Cottage.'

Mount Desert Island has been my home since I graduated from college - a very long time ago - and I love it here. During the summer I hike and bike the trails of Acadia, comb the beaches to collect sea glass and sea-tumbled rocks, garden, volunteer, and take in all the island has to offer in unique shops and gourmet restaurants. During our cold and snowy winters, I take early morning walks or snowshoe on the breathtakingly beautiful and very quiet carriage roads, spend time with my family and friends, and read some great books I've been meaning to get to all summer.
When I travel away for any length of time and start yearning to see the mountains of Acadia and smell the sea air as I cross the Trenton bridge onto MDI - that's when I really know how much I appreciate and love my island home and I can't wait to share it with you!

I love the quiet and the privacy of the homes around Indian Point. Moss Mountain Cottage sits on 5 acres and features a large deck with a Weber grill and outdoor seating/dining for 8 guests and the patio gardens off the back deck include a fire pit and seating, also for 8. Both the deck and patio are quiet places to relax and hear the chatter of frogs in the bog; morning songbirds or nighttime owls; be greeted by visiting deer and rabbits as they try to sneak a snack from my flower gardens; take in the beauty of a full moon or on a clear night, the sky bursting with stars as far as the eye can see. All this to ensure you a peaceful and restful vacation on MDI.
