Spacious Condo

Our second stay here. Only negative is the road noise from the traffic circle but this can be said for many locations in Funchal. Would not hesitant to stay here again.

A lovely apartment, great location!

We were away for a few days visiting family and had a lovely stay here! The location is amazing, 15 mins into Funchal and around 20-25 mins to the beach such as Lido and Ponta Gorda. Close to amenities too. Lovely well-kept spacious apartment that we all loved, lovely views of the ocean from the balconies! Highly recommend, and a great price too!

Wonderful

Strategic location with gorgeous ocean view

Stayed at Jane’s property for a week and host and property manager (Gil) were very pleasant to work with. Clear instructions given before, during and after our stay. Location is situated on a Main Street with a bus stop in front of property. It can get noisy but that’s with city living. With a car rental, I got to many places within 10 minutes and you can even walk across the street to Magnolia park and close to Savoy Palace. The view was gorgeous every single day. There is some renovation going on right now next to the apartment but we were not bothered by it. The apartment was big and very comfortable. The parking is kinda tight so a small compact car is recommended if you want to park in the apartment itself. Continente (supermarket) is about 5 mins drive away. Super convenient. Thank you, Jane, for sharing the apartment with us and thanks Gil for meeting with us to show us the apartment and giving us the keys.

We'll not return.

The apartment is spotless & well equipped & Gill, the housekeeper is extremely pleasant & obliging. However, there were downsides to our stay: A short time before our arrival we were notified by the owner, that we had to telephone Gill on arrival to arrange for her to meet us with the keys. I struggled to convince Jane that since the U.K. is no longer part of the E.U. that my telephone contract does not allow me to make what are now International calls. Gill stepped in & allowed us to have her Email address so I could Email her from the Airport. Another problem being; the day after arrival, despite our key opening the deadlock, we could not release the actual door latch, eventually after lots of attempts, the latch finally released for a reason unknown. We had the same problem in the evening, this time, no matter how many attempts we had, the latch would not release. Regrettably I could not contact anyone, but fortunately after over ½ hour the door eventually opened. Gill eventually got back to me & met us the next day & showed us how to unlock the door. The lock is incorrectly adjusted, as you have to pull the door towards you, whilst turning the key. As nice as the apartment is, it is situated on a hill, just above a roundabout & all of the roads are extremely busy & noisy, even during the night. The views are from the balconies are good, but we didn't find any pleasure sitting on them due to the traffic noise & fumes from a lot of the vehicles wafting up.

Melvyn Thank you for submitting your review. Please kindly see the email we exchanged dated November 7th. I would request that you amend your review. I am the one that provided you with Gill’s email address prior to the holiday. Not Gill. We book out this unit every year. Completely sell out. We have many repeat clients. Clients that even return multiple times a year. We pride ourselves on having a highly rated property. No one has ever had an issue with contacting Gill despite travelling outside of the country. Including when I visit the unit myself as I live outside of Portugal. As I noted below, I indicated she could be contacted by whatsapp. Whatsapp is accessed through wifi or data connection. That means that if you can email her, you can also whatsapp her. Thus, she is very accessible. Generally, travellers will purchase an international calling plan/package ahead of their holidays, especially in these instances. We have travelled to many local lodging apartments in various countries around Europe and have always been instructed to contact the property manager when arriving at the airport. This is an apartment, not a hotel with a front desk open 24 hours a day. It is a very unfortunate situation regarding the lock. As mentioned, we have traveller in the apartment consistently. Gill is and always has been very accessible for any support by phone call or whatsapp and attends the apartment quickly. An international calling plan on your phone would have mitigated this issue. As you noted, when you initially booked, you requested to use two rooms as you disturb your spouse with snoring. Usually this would not be accommodated as that is not how pricing is set up. I allowed all the rooms to be opened and did not increase your invoice. This additional space cost me more as I pay Gill per bedroom linen change. I am disappointed that we received such a review after all these accommodations. Holidays are a wonderful thing, and you should enjoy them immensely. Based on your needs, you may want to book two hotel rooms instead for your spouse and yourself. Thank you again for the staying with us. Jane

Well equipped Apartment in good location

This Apartment is equipped with everything you need to spend a good time in Madeira. The city Center can be easily reached in a 20 minutes walk or by bus which starts in front of the building. The street is noisy especially with motorcycles and buses accelerating up the Hill. To use the Garage it is recommended to have a small car. Jane always had valuable information about the region for us. Thanks a lot for this!

Großzügige,gepflegte und gut ausgestattete FeWo; aber oft mit nächtlichem Straßenlärm

Haben uns in der Wohnung sehr wohl gefühlt. Sie ist großzügig, gepflegt und gut ausgestattet. Eigentümerin hat sich im Vorfeld mit Informationen über Anfahrtroute, Veranstaltungen und nahegelegene Restaurants sehr bemüht. Auch die Anbindung an das öffentliche Verkehrsnetz ist sehr gut. Bushaltestelle unmittelbar vor dem Haus. Einziger gravierender Nachteil ist die -insbesonders nächtens- störende Lärmbelastung durch die vorbeiführende Strasse.

Loved our stay

We had a lovely time in Jane’s home . It was spotless and very roomy . Loved the view from the kitchen . Had everything we needed there . It is at the top of a hill but it kept us both fit . Very safe and Maderia is a beautiful country . Hope to return and have advised all our friends how beautiful it is .Gill who met Us on the first night took us down into the town to show us a supermarket . We found the next day we were very close to everything . Daniel who Jane advise for a taxi was on time for our arrival and very early drop off .Jane also passed over whatsap tel numbers for both GIll and Daniel which was good .we went on 2 trips which we found were so good all over the island and the drivers were so good at giving us information at the different stops .beautiful park just down the road with a really good cafe .

Boa experiência.

Gostámos muito da casa, pois tem óptimas condições, com espaço para 6 pessoas. A casa tem as comodidades necessárias. A Gill, que nos recebe, é muito simpática. Tem estacionamento privativo. O lugar de parque interior é um pouco apertado, pelo que deixámos o carro no parque exterior pertencente ao prédio . Fica a cerca de 20 minutos a pé do centro. Do centro ao apartamento tem de se subir um pouco, mas faz-se. Só ficou a faltar um pequeno gesto de acolhimento: um doce, uns bolos, um bolo do caco, um vinho., ou qualquer coisa do género. Sabe bem a quem chega.

Nice place

Nice place clean and close to the main town. Located at a busy roundabout so traffic noise can be loud at times. Only problem was with the front door lock not opening. It was newly installed and had several times it wouldn’t open. Spent several hours over the five day trying to get in. Once the lock problem is corrected I would highly recommend this place. ,

Very centrally located spacious flat!

Our stay at Jane’s place was really great! The flat is very centrally located so you can get to Lido or the City center easily by walk. There’s a bus stop in front of the house for those who would like to take public transport. The flat is on a busy road so it can get a bit noisy if you keep the balcony door open. It was very spacious and with great view. We’d definitely consider staying again.

Très bel appartement , très bien situé à 5 min. du centre de Funchal. Seul soucis, le parking voitur

L’appartement est très beau et spacieux. Il est très bien situé et proche du centre ville de Funchal. Le seul problème rencontré est avec la voiture car le parking en sous sol est plein de piliers et il est très difficile de se garer à l’emplacement prévu. Mais si vous prenez une petite citadine , c’est mieux. Je reprendrai cette location avec plaisir si je reviens à madeire .

Great Apartment

A lovely, large apartment very close to the centre of Funchal. There are good transport links with a bus stop right outside which I appreciated. Gill, who greeted us was delightful and helpful during our 6 week stay. Breakfast on the balcony each morning was wonderful, where we enjoyed the view of the Magnolia Gardens and the sea beyond. Yes, there was traffic noise, but you have to accept that in a city. The compensation was lots of excellent restaurants and bars on the doorstep. A great base for exploring the beautiful island of Madeira.

Great family reunion

Very nice 3 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms for our family reunion of 6, the youngest 72! Well equipped kitchen and nice dining area. All were happy with the beds. Bus stop right outside the building took you to down town and back. Under

Fantastic apartment let down by traffic noise.

This is a wonderful apartment - everything you need is there. The kitchen has a wonderful view over the park and down to the sea. However we had to close the bedroom windows at night and wear ear plugs to sleep due to the proximity of roads.
