We had a wonderful time staying at this apartment. So cute and comfy beds, great living spaces, kitchen and great shower. Loved hearing the church bells. They aren't loud, just hear them in the distance. Tried recording them but didn't work. :)) Location was absolutely perfect. In the quaintest neighbourhood away from the main streets and all the noise. However close enough to walk everywhere. A cafe around every corner, as well as great shopping and Anne Frank house 8 minutes away. We felt like we had been dropped into a movie set staying here, but this is Amsterdam. Very historic and beautiful canals, etc etc. I can't say enough. Thank you Tony.
The house is very nice, clean and located in a nice area. Rick, the manager was very attentive to our needs. It was somewhat loud on the weekend, but it is in the center of the city, so it's expected. The biggest drawback is the stairs. They are pretty standard for Amsterdam - steep and narrow - but still difficult to negotiate. All in all it was a great experience.
We were delighted with a warm greeting from the owner and his attention to our needs. The apartment was spotless and charming, however the narrow stairs did not allow us to bring our luggage to the same floors as the bedrooms (3 and 4). Bedrooms, bathrooms, and living quarters were all comfortable and well appointed with coffee and tea, yet a little tight. Right across the canal from attractions such as Anne Frank and the Westekerk, and 10 minute walk to center of town.
This home in the heart of Jordaan was perfect and everything we expected. The location could not have been better. Our cab driver from central station had some trouble finding it, but he was not a local driver. Once we found it we realized we were in the perfect location to see and do everything. We walked everywhere and at every hour and felt safe and comfortable everywhere we went. The home was charming and decorated exactly how my Dutch friend described life in Holland. The stairs are very steep and narrow and were a bit difficult to navigate with luggage, but Rick helped out. By the end of the week we were accustom to the steepness and my legs were in great shape! We visited several restaurants in the Jordaan and HIGHLY recommend Olivia's as well as Assaggi. The location near the Anne Frank Huis was very helpful to navigate our way home daily. The bells of the Westerkerk are lovely and they ring on the quarter hour. After the 3rd night we did get used to it, but if you are a light sleeper you may want to bring some earplugs. We have recommended this to our friends and hope to return sometime soon. Tony was great at answering our pre-trip questions and Rick was available for our arrival and assisted us in every way possible during our stay. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Great location ! I highly recommend the Jordaan area for peace and quiet at the end of the day. House is on a small street. We had the windows open at night because we hit a hot spell,
But things quieted down early. Everyone that raved about the restaurant across the street was right on. They had no outdoor seating for us so they brought a table over and put it at the front bench of the house and crossed the street with all of our dishes! We sat there for three hours and enjoyed a delicious 4 course meal! It is called Mantoe. As for the house, just about perfect. I have stayed in many VRBO's and this one had everything! Washer and dryer unheard of in my travels, also great fridge and dishwasher and comfortable beds! We did breakfast and cocktails every day on the second floor terrace which took some manuvering since it is up a very sleep steps but we managed! My Daughter and I walked every night and it was very safe even at 11 pm and later. Because it was so nice and warm we took two canal tours. One was paddle boats and the other was Friendship guided tour. I recommend both. There is a night shop close by and a great grocery 5 minutes away. The only drawback is the steps to the second floor. Very steep and need to be slowly taken. If you have any trouble with curvy steep stairs this is not the place for you! I would live in this house, it is historical yet totally updated. Thank you Tony for sharing this treasure.
In the Jordan near the Ann Frank House and West Kirk, the neighborhood feels residential, but it's a short tram ride from everything and an easy walk to Dam Square. There are groceries and restaurants galore near by.
The apartment is furnished the way I imagine a Dutch relative might furnish a traditional row house. And it is very traditional. The ground floor has the kitchen, dining room, and washer/dryer. An extraordinarily steep staircases takes you to the living room and the balcony. There is a bedroom on each of the next two floors up. Not for those out of shape or afraid of heights, but very Dutch and very charming.
Rick is a pleasure to deal with.
We would stay here again.
