Barn Acre is positioned in the stunning village of Carlton, situated four miles from the popular market town of Leyburn. The property has two good sized double bedrooms, a modern, stylish kitchen and characterful living area with open fire. The modern bathroom has a walk in shower and the property benefits from under floor heating.

This property is clean and well maintained. The plumbing fixtures are all modern and working well. Carlton is a attractive, quiet village with a great pub that serves very good food. The owner is a good communicator and easy to work with. I highly recommend this house.

What an amazing cottage to spend a week in exploring the Yorkshire Dales.Perfect location to access it all. The Fish and Chip Van in the village on Thursday night was amazing. Would highly recommend.The cottage has everything you could possibly need and is very comfortable.The only negative was its cleanliness, especially in the bathroom which had hairs I needed to clean up before I could use it. Overall would definitely recommend.

Cozy, well-appointed cottage in a charming village. Tony was very welcoming and responsive. The village pub just down the lane and is everything you’d hope it would be - friendly people and wonderful food. Highly recommend.

We really loved our stay at Barn Acre. Perfect home base for a 12-day visit to the Dales. We even stretched the definition of the Dales, as we visited sites from Whitby up to the beaches of the Lake District. The cottage is very thoughtfully equipped and styled cozily. We loved the kitchen and comfy seating. The washer dryer combination was a ‘life saver’ . The cottage was generally clean, although we would have liked some more attention to details in that regard. The beds are firm, which I appreciated, though on the stiffer side — I could feel the springs slightly. Communication with the hosts via the VRBO-app was pleasant and full of tips and recommendations. This would definitely be our base again for further exploration of this area.

Idyllic rural location with lovely views and still near to a main town for shops. Local community pub in village serving tasty food with a mobile fish & chip shop on Thursday evening which had some of the best ever tasted. Well equipped cottage and comfy sofas and we had a very enjoyable stay in Barn Acre.

Lovely cottage in great location

Enjoyed our short break in Carlton. Cottage clean and comfortable in a great location for the East side of the Dales. Easy directions and instruction from the host and a super welcome pack to greet us. Highly recommended.

Dales Break

We had a fabulous time at the cottage which is newly renovated and extremely well equipped. The shower is superb! We also loved the open fire. It is the ideal location for exploring the mid Dales and the rain didn’t stop our fun. We would highly recommend this property.

Gorgeous

One of my favourite holiday houses ever. The house has all amenities you could want for a self catering holiday, with plenty of lovely and thoughtful extras. The location is beautiful with plenty of places to see and walk nearby. The owners responded quickly to any messages and the instructions for getting there and check in were excellent. I would wholeheartedly recommend!

Fab stay in Carlton

Very very comfortable with everything you need to cook (handy as there’s only the lovely pub at hand and no shop nearby). Heating works a treat and it’s a relaxing and welcoming place to return to after yet another amazing walk. The generous welcome pack goodies very much appreciated! Thanks again.

Picture perfect

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Barn Acre. The house is beautifully decorated and well equipped. We cooked, we played games by the fire, we slept soundly. We left wanting to return to this lovely house in "God's own country". The Dales are spectacular in Spring - so beautiful, so green (and muddy!) and little lambs everywhere.

A lovely view!

As ever, heavenly! We spent a lovely 5 days at barn acre. The weather though changeable was excellent and gave us a chance to continue to explore the area. Bolton castle is a must. We were able to return to barn acre knowing that it is a wonderful base. Everything you need for a very comfortable visit. This is our third visit and won’t be our last. We thank the owners for their cosy home from home and their lovely welcome package.

Splendid Dales experience

We really enjoyed this cosy cottage, nicely furnished, kitchen etc well-equipped. There is, however, an odour issue, especially in the small bedroom and the living-room, probably due to mould. Place needs to be aired frequently. Still, a good choice.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We have checked the cottage thoroughly and couldn’t detect any odours. Visitors who have stayed prior to your stay and after have not commented on any unpleasant smells so I can only assume these were from the local farm.
