We spent a week at La Casetta di Castell'Anselmo in early May this year. This is a wonderful location for a vacation in the Tuscany region of Italy. La Casetta, located on the top of a hill, provides stunning views of the Tuscan country side. It was amazing to sit outside in the morning and evenings gazing at the vistas with the fragrance coming from the roses and other flowering plants. Sitting in the middle of several hectares of property there are olive trees, vineyards and gardens surrounding the house.
The house is large, elegant and very comfortable. I Gelsi, the unit we rented, has a large eat-in kitchen, large dining room, living room, media room and several sitting areas, three bedrooms, swimming pool and BBQ. It is well equipped, and beautifully decorated.
La Casetta is located in the middle of wine country. The owners, Federica and Francesa, are friendly and helpful and are willing to assist with information about the area, make arrangements for wine tours and provide recommendations of places to visit and directions to locations. We used I Gelsi as a home base to make day trips to places of interest in the area, including Pisa, Lucca, Livorno, Florence, Bolgheri, Volterra, a stunning beach and others.
In retrospect, we should have planned to stay longer. We considered this to be a rare find, fully enjoyed our stay and highly recommend I Gelsi. Federica, Francesca, thank you from all of us for your hospitality, you made our first trip to Tuscany an amazing experience and we hope to have the opportunity to return in the future.
