We highly recommend 4x4 and high clearance vehicles for parking at this rental home, as the property does not have a paved driveway. The condition of the parking area can change quickly, causing sand accumulation and potential vehicle damage (either sand-blasting or vehicles becoming stuck). Perched right on the dune line just steps from the ocean, getting to the beach couldn't be easier. Torchsong is situated farther east than any of the surrounding homes, providing unobstructed views of the Atlantic. This classic cottage has been updated with new flooring throughout and a wrap-around sun deck where you can enjoy the sound of the waves, salty breezes and panoramic ocean views. Best of all, Torchsong welcomes dogs so your four-legged family members can experience beachfront living by your side.

The open-concept layout on the main level takes full advantage of the home's prime location. Enjoy direct ocean views from all the common spaces of the home, even while preparing meals in the kitchen. Beach-friendly LVP flooring is installed throughout, ideal for kids and pets. Thoughtfully decorated with original artwork and eclectic accents, Torchsong is brimming with character while still providing all the comforts of home.

Located at Milepost 20.5 where the beaches are wide and uncrowded, Torchsong offers the tranquility of the all-residential South Nags Head area while still being just a short drive away from grocery stores, shopping and dining. Take a short drive or bike ride north to the Outer Banks Fishing Pier and Fish Head's Bar and Grill, where you can order food and drinks on the oceanfront while listening to live music. You'll be just 2 miles from Coquina Beach and the 4x4 beaches, part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and a favorite local spot for fishing and surfing. From there, explore Bodie Island Lighthouse or head south for a day trip to Ocracoke.

Torchsong was exactly what we were hoping for and then some. From the moment we arrived, it felt like the perfect Outer Banks beach house. The home was clean, well-maintained, and everything worked exactly as expected. We've stayed in enough vacation rentals to know that's not always a given, so it was appreciated.The location is simply incredible. Being right on the ocean meant we could enjoy beautiful sunrises, listen to the waves from the deck, and be on the beach within moments. The views are outstanding, and the setting provided the relaxing getaway we were looking for. If you're considering this property because of its oceanfront location, you won't be disappointed.The house itself was perfect for our needs. It was comfortable, inviting, and had everything we needed for a great stay. We never found ourselves wishing for anything that wasn't already there. It felt like a place where you could truly relax and enjoy your vacation without worrying about the little things.One piece of advice for future guests: the recommendation regarding a 4x4 vehicle is worth taking seriously. The driveway and sandy conditions are part of what comes with staying this close to the beach. Having a vehicle capable of handling the sand makes arrival and departure much easier and helps you fully enjoy the experience without stress.Other than that, we honestly cannot think of anything negative to say. The house was clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and located in one of the best spots!

Girls time

Every year myself and my cousins and women family members get together for a couple of days to catch up and this year we pick Nags Head.Property was very comfortable for my group of 7 women and 2 Pet.If you don’t have a 4 wheel drive vehicle you have to park at bottom so unloading, reloading and getting to and from vehicles was a struggle for some in our group

The Positives:•The view was beautiful, and the walk to the beach was quick and easy.The Negatives:•The driveway is unusable. While the listing mentions that 4WD is recommended, it’s actually required — and even then, you may still get stuck. Our neighbor with a 4WD vehicle got stuck trying to drop off beach gear. When I called the rental company, they claimed the county wouldn’t let them clear a path due to dune protection — but both a local homeowner and a responding police officer told me this was false and that previous owners had plowed it regularly.•Parking is a nightmare. There’s nowhere to legally or safely park. I had to park in front of a nearby (non-rental) home. They called the police, but luckily, the homeowner allowed me to stay after I explained the situation.•No air conditioning upon arrival. After spending an hour digging my car out, we found that neither floor had working A/C. A technician came the next day, but the issue wasn’t fixed. Eventually, the rental company dropped off window units for the upstairs — which helped a bit, but the downstairs remained hot (78–79F).•Roaches. We saw between 10–20 during our stay.•The dishwasher was full when we arrived. No way to know if dishes were clean or dirty, so we had to rerun it just to have usable silverware.•The fridge was not functioning properly. The internal thermometer read 50 degrees F — not food-safe.•The grill was unusable. Completely rusted and falling apart.
