Very Enjoyable

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The property was very clean!! It made me a little nervous to receive the detailed information just prior to arriving (as I was driving and I didn't arrive until it was dark outside), but it all worked out.

Our 2 level cottage gave us plenty of room to spread out and we were only a few steps to the beautiful beach. The cottage was extremely clean and the AC was right on point after a day in the sun. The close location to nearby CH lighthouse and restaurants also a big plus! Was nice to be in a more private setting but Avon with fishing pier and more restaurants/shops only 10 min drive away.

The unit was very clean upon arrival. Itā€™s nice to have 2 1/2 baths. We enjoyed the deck especially in the afternoons. It is also nice to be able to get clean towels as you needed them. We liked visiting Cape Hatteras Lighthouse , Jockey Ridge and ferry ride to Ocracoke and Cedar Island . The staff recommended some good restaurants.

The kitchen only had paper towels and coffee filters. The coffee maker ran over making a mess the first 2 mornings. We got a replacement after 2nd mess. The bathroom we used had only 1 hand towel and tiny soap slivers to bathe with. We were expected to make our own beds upon arrival. The sheets were scratchy and the beds agonizing. After waking up in pain 3 mornings we left 2 days early. The beach was non existent not due to the propertyā€™s fault but they could have notified us that we wouldnā€™t be enjoying a beach vacation.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We absolutely love the Outer Banks and Buxton gets you away from the touristy and heavily trafficked areas, which is great if youā€™re looking for complete peace and quiet like we were. The villaā€™s proximity to the beach is unbeatable, but it also backs on to the road so every now and again thereā€™s traffic noise. The only thing we didnā€™t love was the cleanliness of the lodging. There was dog/cat poop on the entry steps and balcony of our villa, dog/cat hair covering the couches and carpet, and the window frames were rotting/moldy and leaked during a storm that blew through (especially in the master bedroom). We cleaned the place ourselves the first day to make it feel a little more comfortable and washed all the dishes before using them to remove old grease/food. Thankfully the location made up for the pitfalls of the accommodation and we spent most of our days outside enjoying the reason that we came - amazing people free beaches and open space.

It was also quiet after 10 pm so nice if youā€™re traveling with kids. The cottage we stayed had items that were not up kept. The bathroom floor had a rotted area you could not step on. There was a hole in the wall by kitchen. And we did have a cockroach crawling on our ceiling.

Glad we rescheduled instead of cancelled!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family rented Seahorse 2, a suite and an ocean front room. Seahorse was exceptional for a family of five. Oceanfront room for two was really nice, view was amazing (but little place to set stuff). The suite was good and well equipped for a senior with limited walking capacity. Only complaint was the light on her porch was blown and she was unable to unlock her door, (facing the ocean) from the outside, due to no key provided. When she visited our room, she had to take the long way to the front door- not good for her condition. However, the staff and other guests reassured us that her room would be safe if we left it unlocked. We did feel safe, and other guests were like old friends! A storm had passed through the week before we came, and the staff was diligently removing sand and trying to reclaim access to the whole property. Surf fishing, nice pool and hot tub, great location central to many sights, very clean and relaxing. *take the trip insurance! Long story involving covid and road closures due to sand in April; had to reschedule instead of cancel, but enjoyed our stay in October. Would stay here again!
