Great place!

We loved our stay here. The place was spotless when we arrived and well-stocked with everything you could need for a day at the beach, including several coolers which we really appreciated. The ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom meant we never needed the air conditioning. The lanai and the rest of the property were lovely and I appreciated that the unit was far from the road so it was nice and quiet. I'd definitely stay here again if I return to Kona!

Lovely condo

Beautiful location with easy access, both north to Kona and southward toward Kealakekua Bay. Well-stocked with kitchen tools, beach towels, reef-safe sunscreen and more. The onsite caretaker is friendly and knowledgeable, and the property manager is both easy to reach and very helpful. Breakfast on the lanai is peaceful and quiet (except for the early-rising zebra doves, which are everywhere on the island), and grilling dinner on the gas-fired barbecues near the seawall is a good opportunity to enjoy the sunset.

The unit was very clean with two outdoor patios, one with a lovely garden view.

Lovely Hawaiian decor! The furniture was tasteful and comfortable. The complex was very secure with a gated entry. The owners equipped this unit with many amenities. I enjoyed the pool with its ocean view. Also, grills are available and we were able to grill fish and dine under the stars. The location was convenient to Kona where we enjoyed eating at Hugo’s, Humpy’s, and the luau at the Marriott. Also, don’t miss the fabulous poke at the Poke Shack. The complex was perfect for our family vacation since other relatives were in the next building, allowing everyone some privacy. Mahalo to the owners!

A pleasant stay

It's the first time I have written feedback for a business. However, for a business that tries to do a good job for the customers, it's rude not to say any appreciation words. First of all, it describes the truth of its property and location. For its cleanliness, one must be there to see it because when I was changing a bad cover, there weren't any stains or molds on the bed. In addition, as someone picky about bed comfort, I slept quite well. It's a little too much to eat outside for every single meal when traveling with young children, so a condo with a fully-equipped kitchen is quite handy. If you are looking for a good and convenient beach for your kids for snorkeling and surfing( or take two hours of surfing lessons to get some basic ideas), it's only a four or five-minute drive from this condo. The beach is called Kahalu'u Bay. Getting the questions answered quickly, Dawn made me feel much more comfortable when I was traveling with my two boys all by myself. Finding a vacation home for a family stay can be stressful when safety, convenience, and cost are all top considerations. This property meets all the requirements of one's research. Yes, this property only has an air conditioner in the bedroom, and traveling to the Big Island in July can be hot. Yet, neither of my boys nor I complained during our stay. Lastly, for make a pleasant stay please follow all the property rules;especially, when its time to check-out.

Simply Spectacular!

We visit the BI often (3-4x/year) and always stay at this complex, Kona Makai. We have rented many different units through various property management companies. This one, by far is the best ever!!! Dawn w/ Hawaiian Isle went above and beyond was splendid to work with and communication was awesome! The unit was very clean and updated, abundantly stocked with all the essentials and included newer beach chairs, snorkel equip, pool toys, etc. We will definitely be renting from Dawn again for our future visits. All the other property managements should take lessons from Hawaiian Isle and Dawn! Simply the best!!!

Way exceeded expectations!

Way exceeded expectations - short 3-day trip for work. Arrived to a really clean and WELL-Appointed place (had oil, rice, condiments, soaps and shampoo, great kitchen utensils, laundry soap, everything working (not sure about A/C - never used it.) So much better than having to buy small quantities of these items, could cook from the get-go. Place was quiet, great smoothie/breakfast place almost next door. Not a swimming beach there but could have accessed ocean easily for snorkeling/swim if wanted off rocks. Easy access and nice caretakers. Definitely returning for future trips. Thanks guys!!

Ocean “view”

I would not consider this an ocean view. The “view” is of garden and being on ground floor, it is also obscured by the shrubs just beyond the railing. You look directly across the garden to the lanais of at 15+ Lanais which face you. Did not feel private if sliders snd shades were open, which need to be open to avoid stale air and running the noisy old air conditioner. Parking was random, first come first served. The traffic into Kona on Alii was often backed up past the entrance due to road construction which apparently has been going on for over a year. Absolutely no sand, just rocky coastline which is the majority of the shoreline in the area. Overall, the unit was clean and adequately stocked with essentials. It was moderately priced and suited for a short stay to explore/enjoy the area, not to enjoy from the inside of a condo. Mahalo

Nice condo close to kona. Everything was as listed. Pool area was nice and clean. Owner supplied garbage bags, detergent, dishwasher tablets, and a nice starter kit. We stayed here for 2 weeks and would consider booking again if the cleaning improved. There are dustballs hanging from the ceiling in the bedroom and it appears the ceiling fans have never been dusted.

Spectacular two weeks

We had never been to Kona Hawaii,we had travelled ample and never cooked ourselves . This condo was absolutely perfect for eating in ...very quiet area....good quiet rules ...first floor was wonderful...few feet out our door and we sitting by the barbecues ( could mix with folks or not ),while barbecuing. Very clean condo ,oh yes and lawn chairs to head to the beach and many other beach items .Dawn always available quickly if in requests . Absolutely give this place top marks to stay . When I chose this place it took my less than 5 minutes and now I know why. !! Thanks Dawn .
