Das Ferienhaus ist ein idealer Ort für aktive Gäste, die Wandern, Mountainbiken, Geocaching und Reiten mögen. Im Dartmoor-Nationalpark wird es nie langweilig! Das Moor liegt (im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes) vor der Haustür und ist für viele Menschen die Hauptattraktion. Die Strände sind nicht weit entfernt und der Two Moors Way verläuft über die Spitze des Wind Tor und führt Sie bis nach Exmoor. Die beiden Pubs (The Rugglestone und The Old Inn) in Widecombe betreiben ein florierendes Geschäft und sind beide einen Besuch wert.

Die Unterkunft besteht aus 1 Zweibettzimmer, 1 Doppelzimmer und einem kleinen Abstellraum für ein kleines Kind. Es gibt eine voll ausgestattete Küche, ein modernes Bad, ein Wintergarten und ein Wohnzimmer. Off-Road-Parkplatz für 2 Autos und 20 Meter entfernt weitere Parkplätze. Der Cottage-Garten bietet einen atemberaubenden Blick über das Widecombe-Tal. Es gibt tolle Spaziergänge vor der Haustür, von denen die meisten in einem örtlichen Pub gehen. Im Garten sind Vögel, Schmetterlinge und Bienen zu sehen.

Because of its rural location, Windtor is subject to visits from sheep and their bleats are audible along with other agricultural ambient sounds.

The cottage is right on the moor, so maximum of 2 dogs which must be kept under control. All dog poop must be removed and put in the waste bin.

Fantastic cottage in beautiful location

The new kitchen is such an amazing addition to the cottage. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable holiday and is perfectly situated right on the moor , with a lovely easy walk into Widecombe. Highly recommend this cottage. Will definitely be back soon .

Relaxing base to enjoy Dartmoor

Enjoyed the cottage so much that did not venture much further than walking to Widecombe via Wind Tor. Excellent food at Cafe on Green and at Rugglestone Inn on way back.

Amazing location

Lovely holiday cottage, had everything we needed. Check in was easy and communication with Peter was great. Very nice, pretty garden. The main thing about this place is the location, it is perfect and the views are amazing!

Great place to stay!

We enjoyed a wonderful, quiet week in this beautiful cottage. It has a very nice garden full of birds, a spectacular view, and fabulous Dartmoor is all around it. It is close to Exeter. A stack of leaflets helped us to find nice things to see and do.

Quiet spot away from the center of Widecombe

If you like being on Dartmoor, this property is very well situated. It is surrounded by fields with cattle and sheep. It’s a quiet location with a great view from the back garden.

Comfy cottage with superb views and excellent base for walking

We found the cottage to be cosy and well equipped. It was good to have a secure garden for our dog. It's a perfect place to walk 'from the door', and the view from the lounge was stunning. We had an excellent meal at the Rugglestone Inn and would happily stay in the cottage again.

Lovely quiet views

Stayed with family in this lovely place and greatly enjoyed. The views a great. Plenty of local walks to tors and remaining of bronze age settlements. Very quiet and relaxing place. Nicely presented extension to enjoy morning/evening views of the country side, birds and bouncing little sheep.

Beautiful location, clean and well equipped cottage.

Really enjoyed the stay at this lovely cottage. There are walks form the door into the National Park and the views from the sitting room are amazing. The bedrooms all have duvets and are cosy with views over the valley and garden. The cottage has everything you would expect including free wifi and digital TV. The garden is equipped with garden furniture and amazing views. Only downside was we had only one week there.

Great views and lovely location

A cold February half term visit to Widecombe made all the more enjoyable by this comfortable cottage which was warm and welcoming. The view is of the Widecombe valley are amazing and uninterrupted. You can walk from the front door onto the hills of the National Park behind or, if you prefer, down to one of the two pubs in the village both of which serve food. One word of warning; 3rd bedroom is very small and only has a bunk in it.

Peace and tranquility

We have had an excellent time at Windtor cottage; I have never been to a more peaceful place in my life. We watched birds from our garden sundeck - we enjoyed topping up the bird feeders regularly. Since we don't drive, we had Tesco deliver our food and booked some taxi rides with the excellent Station Taxis. We particularly enjoyed the walk up from the cottage to Hameldown and Grimspound. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage, it's spacious and well equipped, sadly without real fire, but with outstanding features like a window- nook and a wonderful garden with fantastic views. Will definitely be back one time!

Perfect as usual

The house is always a charming place to get away from it all. It's just far enough away from anything touristy to give peace and quiet, but not so far away that you have to drive for hours to do anything. There's plenty to do, both in Widecombe and around it, including plenty of walks, and a lovely farm shop about 5-10 minutes drive towards Newton Abbot. I can honestly say each time we go, it's a home away from home. You'd never know it was a holiday home, not too posh, it feels like a family home. Obviously it's very well taken care of, very clean, and there's always some every day essentials in the kitchen cupboards. The only problem we had was needing more time to do everything we wanted. We'll certainly be back again.

Das Häuschen liegt landschaftlich wunderschön. Die Ausstattung ist prima und die Kommunikation mit dem Gastgeber angenehm und unkompliziert.Hinter dem Haus bwginnt ein schöner Wanderweg nach Widecomb in the Moor. Weitere sehr schöne Ausflüge sind mit dem Auto von hier aus gut erreichbar.

Dit huisje doet je terug denken aan het huis van oma. Gelukkig zijn de belangrijkste zaken zeker helemaal van deze tijd. Prachtig gelegen met fantastisch uitzicht en zeer aangename tuin. Heel fijn verblijf gehad.

Our family has resided in the area since 17th century and Windtor cottage has been in the family for 4 generations. We love its location and the tranquility of the area, with such easy access to miles of open countryside.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

The area is ideal for people who are active and enjoy hiking, geocaching, cycling and horse riding. Access to the national park is from the back door and there are loads of walks from there which are available in the welcome pack. You won't need your car all week as food is delivered to the door by most supermarkets. We are an active family and love the outdoors but there is loads of other stuff to do locally - check out the ‘things to do’ section of the welcome pack. Exeter and Plymouth are about 40 minutes away and you can get to the south coast beaches in about the same time.

Views from the sun room and sundeck are amazing and it is the perfect place to relax, away from the stresses of work and daily life. The views from the cottage of the Widecombe valley are hard to beat and are best taken in while sipping your breakfast tea or sundowner cocktail on the sun deck. It boasts 1 double and 1 twin room and a small downstairs single room. The new kitchen is equipped with an induction hob, double oven, microwave and fridge freezer. It has all you will need in the way of utensils and the dining sunroom is accessible directly from the kitchen.

Wifi is available for free and to use the Ohme Pro EV charger, please contact me directly. This is available for as little as 10p per unit.

You can walk from the door straight up onto the moor and from there you have access to miles of open countryside. You can even follow the Two Moors Way to Exmoor, 90 miles away! Walking and cycling guides available are available in the cottage.

You will be surrounded by the sites and sounds of the countryside during your stay and don't be surprised to see Dartmoor ponies at the gate. Bird seed is provided and you are welcome to top up the feeders.
