Le Fournil ist ein unabhängiges Ferienhaus voll Charakter, der Name reflektiert seine landwirtschaftl. Vergangenheit, als es Backstube & Getreidespeicher zum Haupthaus Le Couloumé war, um 1850 erbaut. Le Couloumé ist ein tradit französ Bauernhaus mit mehreren Außengebäuden auf über 1 Hektar Land an einem Südhang gelegen, in Loudet, einem kleinen Dorf in Haute Garonne, an der Grenze zum Département Hautes-Pyrénées. Geografisch befinden wir uns in den Zentralen Pyrenäen, fast Equidistanz zwischen Atlantik- & Mittelmeerküste. Eingebettet in idealer Lage, haben wir Zugang zu einigen der schönsten Landschaften, die Frankreich zu bieten hat. Von schönen Hügellandschaften, über die weltberühmten Tour de France Pyrenäen Cols. Wir genießen einen atemberaubenden Blick auf die Pyrenäen über das Tal - in der Tat können wir die Berge 3 verschiedener Départements sehen, die der Ariège im Osten, der Haute-Garonne im Süden und der Hautes-Pyrénées im Westen mit dem Pic du Midi & sogar Spanien!

What a beautiful gite! We particularly enjoyed eating on the terrace with the magnificent view of the Pyrenees in the distance. The place was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Claudia was the perfect host, helping us orient ourselves and settle in. She was flexible when our plans for checkout changed, and her communications were perfect. Highly recommended as a base to explore this beautiful part of France!

Fabulous Gite, amazing place

What a beautiful Gite in Loudet. Relaxing by the beautiful pool or eating outside watching the wildlife and the colours change over the Pyrenees, this was an amazing place to stay. There are lovely walks around the area and lovely food and hospitality! Would thoroughly recommend and this was by far the best property in terms of location and quality we have ever stayed in : thank you Claudia and Hugues for your warm greetings and your lovely Gite!

A fabulous stay!

What a wonderful find this was. The gite was better than we could have imagined. So clean, so spacious, had everything that you could possibly need. Marianne and Brian were really great hosts. They were always on hand to give us ideas for days out. We had our bikes with us and Brian was always able to provide excellent local knowledge of rides with varying degrees of strenuous output! There really is so much to do - the list is endless. We would definitely like to return next year. Hope it's not booked up!

Pyrenees escape

The moment I arrived and stepped from the car I was instantly relaxed looking over at the mountains which frame the horizon and the birds of prey calling in the sky. Beautiful surroundings for a much needed holiday. Our hosts Brian and Marianne had left a welcome hamper, which had the best home made jam I have ever tasted, along with a speciality Pyrenees cake!! Went down a treat :0) The cottage has been restored to an exceptional standard, and sympathetically so. It has all the mod cons and appliances needed to prepare a master culinary piece. If you don't want to cook I have to highly recommend the pizza van man, they taste divine; so much so we had them two nights in a row!! The internet was stable and fast- was high on our 14 year olds agenda. If you wanted a quiet night in there is an interactive internet television system so you can watch great films! Again our daughter was a fan of the pool- even better when you swim gazing out over the mountain tops. :0) The area around Loudet is stunning in every sense; the scenery is breathtaking, the pace of life is slow and relaxing, the air is clean and refreshing, and the people are warm and welcoming. Thankyou for having us Marianne and Brian. We'll be back in 2017. :0)

It is easy to spend more than one holiday here and not get bored, there is just so much to do and see in this area. Our cottage makes such a cosy and comfortable base, so much so that some guests don't feel like going out that much, but just sit and relax in our peaceful surroundings instead.

Wunderbares Urlaubserlebnis

Wir hatten zwei perfekte Wochen in einem wunderschönen Ferienhaus. Der Abschied fiel uns sehr schwer. Es befindet sich alles, was man braucht, im Haus. Abgesehen von der tollen Unterkunft sind Marianne und Brian an Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft nicht zu übertreffen. Wir können sagen, dass wir tatsächlich so etwas noch nie erlebt haben. Viele interessante und hilfreiche Tipps haben wir von beiden erhalten. Dadurch konnten wir einige tolle Unternehmungen machen, auf die wir alleine sicher gar nicht gekommen wären. Es war eine lockere, angenehme und sehr warme Atmosphäre, die in einem gemeinsamen, lustigen und unvergesslichen Ausflug zur "Tour de France" gipfelte. Beide geben das Gefühl absolut willkommen zu sein und man merkt, dass ihnen das Wohl des Gastes am Herzen liegt. Natürlich war der Pool das Highlight für unser Kind. Auch wir haben die tägliche Abkühlung gern genutzt. Alles in allem ein gelungener und unvergesslicher Urlaub. Liebe Marianne, lieber Brian, wir danken nochmals herzlich an dieser Stelle für alles und schicken Grüße aus Halle....selbstverständlich auch an die beiden liebenswerten Hunde Maddie und Monty! Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.

Nous avons choisi le gîte de Claudia car il dégageait sur les photos un petit cocon. C'est exactement ce que nous avons trouvé : 3 jours de bien-être, loin de nos vies trépidantes. Havre de paix, vue magnifique

Accueil très sympathique de Claudia et son mari. Nous avons apprécié la petite attention de l'arrivée. Gîte ultra propre et super équipé. Nous n'avons malheureusement pu profiter que 2 jours de la piscine, à cause de la météo maussade, mais c'était déjà très agréable. Un lieu très reposant, avec une vue superbe sur les Pyrénées. Peaceful and dramatic

We loved the quiet village and the dramatic - ever changing - views of the Pryenees. The nearby towns of Montrejeau and St Gaudens are only 15-20 mins away. A great base to explore the Pyrenees, go to the Marciac Jazz festival or Toulouse. The property is well thought out, with everything you need and the hosts were approacable, helpful without ever being intrusive. We loved staring at Pyrenees from the gite terrace - even watching distant storms and lightning at night. Great pool, all in all a superb gite.

Perfect Cottage in a stunning location

A perfect cottage in a stunning location. The property has been thoughtfully finished to a very high standard and is exceptionally well equipped, The beds are very comfortable with good quality linens etc. The property and outside areas were spotlessly clean. The hosts were so friendly and helpful with suggestions on things to do and places to visit. This is our 2nd visit to this property and it was a truely relaxing memorable holiday with stunning views. We look forward to returning again. I would have no hesitation in highly recommend this property

Perfect in every way! Great hosts and great holiday let.

It's remote, beautiful and peaceful. My husband enjoyed all the cycling and I enjoyed all the reading. Marianne & Brian make you feel very welcome and happy to share their knowledge of the area. The dogs Monty and Maddie provided lots of hugs too! The gite is immaculate and very well laid out and the welcome basket is a lovely surprise. Just an all round wonderful stay. Fantastic gite in wonderful, peaceful location

This gite was everything we had hoped- extremely comfortable, in an excellent,peaceful location. The whole gite is in excellent condition- very clean and well maintained. All the equipment you need is provide. The patio and pool areas have wonderful views towards the Pyrenees- we spent many hours just taking in the view - and appreciating the peaceful location. The owners have great local knowledge and are friendly and welcoming. The is so much to do in the area- walking,cycling, visiting markets. We only scratched the surface- so are so glad to be revisiting again next year. We highly recommend this gite- one of the best we have stayed in.

Idyllic Location!

An extremely comfortable, stylish and very well-equipped gite in a superb location. Every conceivable utensil provided, as well as many thoughtful touches. We were very impressed by the welcome tray...in particular the fresh fruit and homemade jam! Fantastic views of the Pyrenees, and the swimming pool was a bonus. Brian and Marianne are splendid hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the local area and are happy to share it! Following their advice we had a lovely walk up from the Col de Mente to the Pic de L'Escalette, which was just the sort of walk we were looking for. We also enjoyed the Roman Villa at nearby Montmaurin. Lovely walks also to be had from the property itself, especially along the delightfully shaded irrigation channel conveniently located at the bottom of the garden. Monty and Maddie, the friendly dogs, were a big hit with our two sons! We all enjoyed our stay immensely and would return without hesitation.

Pyrenean Perfection

We had a lovely week in Marianne and Brian's lovely Pyrenean Gite. The place exceeded our expectations and is the nicest Gite we have stayed in. From the first contact, communication with Marianne or Brian was prompt, clear and helpful. Marianne was particularly helpful with some recommendations for stopovers on the drive down as well - so worth tapping into their advice. The setting for the Gite was perfect for us - secluded, but with a Mairie, church and other properties nearby - so not isolated. Pool was great and was prepared for us everyday by Brian - very nice poolside equipment and parasols. The gite itself is very spacious and cool and has been finished to a very high standard. TV set up is great - with a library of films to watch if required. Kitchen has everything we needed - everything worked perfectly and all consumables like cloths, dishwasher tablets, foil, etc were provided - perfect. The jewel in the crown is the view of the mountains and this was worth the trip alone. Really stunning and one of the really nice features of the gite is the private covered terrace which allows you to eat, drink, read and take in the view without being overlooked in any way. There is an irrigation canal running along the bottom of the property and this is ideal of shady flat walks. Marianne and Brian were very friendly and struck the perfect balance of being there to help us but also leaving us to get on with our break. Totally recommended - you won't be disappointed!

Perfect Pyrenees holiday

We had seen the accommodation on the web but were happily surprised to find that it was much more than we had expected. The owners had gone to a great deal of trouble to think of everything that one would, or might, need whilst on holidays. Everything was in "as new" condition and everything actually worked (which is great to find when you have rented houses/gites all over France). The view was magnificent from the lovely garden and also from the pool. Our hosts, Marianne and Brian, were very welcoming and had all the answers to our questions regarding the area and the Pyrenees. We would love to stay there again. Gwen Atkins (Newcastle, Australia)

A great week in the Pyrenees

We had an excellent week staying at Le Fournil. The gite itself was perfect for our family (2 adults, 2 children) - very nicely decorated, very well-equipped and lots of space. The gite also had a very good selection of films. The garden and views out to the Pyrenees were also great. Also very much enjoyed use of woodburner. Brian and Marianne were very hospitable and made us feel welcome not just during our stay but also in responding to questions as we prepared our trip. I'm a keen cyclist as is Brian - I was very pleased to have Brian's guidance in hiring a roadbike and also in taking me out on some excellent rides up into the hills. Plenty of interesting things to do not so far from Loudet - Pyrenees Ho activity centre, Toulouse, Grottes de Gargas. In conclusion - a great week! Tim Tim

Thank you, great to hear that you had such an enjoyable week with us. Brian is always happy to assist fellow cyclists, advising on routes and providing company if required. Located in the central Pyrenees on the border with the Hautes Pyrenees, we have access to some of the best cycling in France. Brian has plotted quiet picturesque routes, wherever possible avoiding main roads, a perfect warm up for the climbs in the mountains. Even the Tourmalet is rideable from here, a good 150km round trip which makes for a fantastic day in the saddle! There are also plenty of other activities and things to see and do for the non-cyclists, you have only just scratched the surface. We look forward to seeing you again. Brian and Marianne

Excellent in all respects

Can only agree with all previous positive posts - best equipped gite we have ever stayed in (and we've stayed in a few!), great location, superb hosts in Marianne, Brian and Monty, beautiful pool, stunning setting - we could go on - suffice to say we booked again for 2 weeks in 2016 before we left! Superb.

Thank you very much, there is no better compliment for us than guests that would like to return and rebook as soon as their previous holiday is over. As a result the calendar for 2016 is already filling up!

At first sight Le Couloumé seems modest; but drive through the huge wooden portal and prepare to have your breath taken away. The stunning view of the mountains is superb (unless it happens to be raining - which, sadly, can happen!). You have left your world behind and joined our world for instant relaxation.
The character of the house and lovingly-renovated cottage will charm you. The beautiful setting can be enjoyed from your patio or from the garden. The mountains stretching from east to west seem so close you can almost touch them from the patio at Le Fournil. Totally private and secluded if you want to be; but open to the wide spaces, the pure, clean air, the birdsong and the high skies of deep France you will be perfectly situated to explore everything the Pyrenees have to offer.
