Smart Traveller's House in Rome

Large and comfortable flat, suitable for group of friends or families traveling together. There are four bedrooms:
- 1 king room with private bathroom,
- 1 king room next to main bathroom
- 2 twin rooms (bunk bed) with a common private bathroom

Privacy is guaranteed as the flat is structured in three independent areas with a common living room and kitchen.
Any combinations of couples and children in the rooms can be arranged.


The apartment is located in the historic district of San Giovanni , not far from the basilica, in a side street of Via Taranto .
The neighborhood is served by metro line A and C , several buses to downtown, and train to Fiumicino airport .
San Giovanni is one of the main shopping districts in Rome , very popular particularly along the main street of Via Appia Nuova .
Close to the house you can find many shops, supermarkets, bars, pharmacies , restaurants , newsstands, pubs, that ca be reached easily by feet.

Metro Station: "Re di Roma" - A line: 500 mt (4 stops to Termini Station, 7 stops to piazza di Spagna, 10 stops to San Pietro and Vatican Museum)

Bus stop 85 line: 50 mt (take a tour with this bus, it takes you trough San Giovanni Basilica, Colosseum, Fori Imperiali, piazza Venezia, up to via del Corso, main Rome street near piazza di Spagna)

Train Station to Fiumicino Airport: 300 mt

Great Location

Enzo was excellent. We forgot to do this review last November after our visit but the flat is so great I wanted to come back and do it now. We would definitely stay there again and we have recommended it to a number of our friends. Easy access to a couple of close restaurants, grocery store, and short walk to the subway. Wonderful for a Roman trip for the family.

Love it

The apartment was spacious, well kept, everything we needed for 6 adults, great to have 3 bathrooms. Quiet off road location, bus in the next square, Metros and train station 4.to 9 minutes walk. Good restaurants and handy supermarket just round the corner. Enzo was brilliant.

Enzo was a perfect host. He helped us arrange train transportation to the neighborhood and went so far as to meet us at the train station and walk us to the apartment. The Colloseum and San Giovanni Basilica were close enough we took evening walks to the mist days. The apartment is more spacious than it appears in the photos. The beds are comfortable and the apartment is well equipped. There are cafes, pizza and a market within a block of the apartment gates.Trains, busses and the metro are all close in proximity making this apartment a perfect home base for a Roman adventure.

Good Space close to public transportation

The space is great and plenty big for our part of 8: 4 Adults, 3 children and 1 infant. The space is very close to Metro A, less than 10 min walk with several markets around also. We had a quick issue with hot water when we arrived but Enzo was quick to fix it. My only complaint on the space is the beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable but rest was great.

Great Place

Enzo is probably the best host I have had to deal with. He was very responsive and was willing to help any way he could. He gave us the ins and out of the area and explained a lot of things we were not aware of. He also set up transportation from and to the airport. Metro is a 10 minute walk and the bus is a 3 minute walk. I would recommend this place to anyone. We were a group of 7. 5 adults and 2 children and we had plenty of space. Enzo’s place also had good A/C and a grocery market that was 2 minutes away.

Bel appartement et trĂšs bon accueil

Bel appartement conforme aux photos, trÚs propre avec commerces à proximité. Nous étions 4 couples d'amis retraités. Nous avons apprécié les 3 SDB. TrÚs bon accueil d'Enzo qui nous a bien expliqué les transports en commun situés à proximité et donné des conseils pour les visites et restauration. TrÚs bon échange par mail et whatsapp. Enzo est trÚs réactif à chaque demande.

Family Trip to Rome

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Rome and Enzo was a wonderful host. He arranged for van to bring us from the airport and met us at the apartment and provided lots of helpful information. He even helped us to call a taxi when we couldn’t figure it out for ourselves! His suggestions for nearby restaurants were excellent. The apartment has good a/c which we especially appreciated.

There were 8 of us and the apartment was a perfect fit. The apartment was very clean and had anything that we might need or want. The best part about our stay was the host, Enzo. He was extremely helpful with everything. He even booked our transportation to and from the airport. We had one small issue with an air conditioner in one of the bedrooms and Enzo responded immediately after I contacted him and he resolved the issue. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. 5 Stars!

Best place I have stayed in for a number of years

This place is great. The location is a short metro ride to all the main historic sites in Rome. Enzo is a great host. He answers all your questions. His place is exceptionally clean. It's quiet and there is plenty of room for 7 people (that was the size of our group). There are good restaurants close and a super market very close. If I every go to Rome again I will call Enzo first.

Incredibly helpful host

My family and our friend's family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the "Smart Traveller's House" while in Rome. The owner, Enzo, went far beyond expectations to ensure our stay was comfortable. He met us at the train station and helped orient us to the neighborhood including places to eat, transit stops, and grocery stores. Throughout our stay he answered all our questions very promptly. He even arranged our transportation to the airport at the end of our visit. His English was fluent, which was very important to us since we unfortunately do not speak any Italian. The apartment had excellent air conditioning, which kept us all comfortable during the incredible heat wave that hit Rome during our visit. Even though one of the bedrooms doesn't have an air conditioner unit directly in the room, the cool air from the adjoining room was more than sufficient to keep the room cool. The room layout made sleeping arrangements easy to work out for our large group and flexibly accommodated everyone's needs for privacy. The onsite washing machine was a tremendous convenience. The kitchen and common room were modest in size but very functional. The location of the apartment was far enough away from the tourist areas that it was very quiet at night in the neighborhood, but there were still plenty of reasonably priced restaurants with excellent food nearby. Overall, this was one of our best experiences with a Home Away rental, largely thanks to the property owner, Enzo, who worked very hard to ensure our comfort!

A must stay apartment for family/friend groups visiting Rome

Apartment: The apartment was an excellent size for us (a mixed family group of 7) with plenty of bathrooms and sleeping options including the use of a full size sofa bed in the living area. The apartment is arranged into three main living bedroom areas but still managed to be cosy and comfortable. Everything was in excellent working condition and immaculate in appearance. The apartment is located in one of many in a complex which is well secured and quiet in the evenings. Location: Located in the San Giovanni area it is just far enough away from the city center that is is quiet and relaxing but transport links are close enough that the main sites and attractions are very easy to get to. One of the best located city apartments I have stayed in the smart traveller house is just a 1 min walk to a bus stop (number 85) which passes through the heart of the city enabling easy travel to all of the main tourist attractions and historic parts of Rome. Just a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro station (Ri de Roma) also gives very quick access to all of the main sites including the Rome's main train station. There is also a station a 3 minute walk away (Roma Tuscolana) that you can use for travel to and from the airport. Host: By far what set this holiday experience apart from others was the host...Enzo. We have never been quite so welcomed and aided by a host in previous holidays and Enzo did everything possible to ensure we were comfortable and informed both before and during our holiday. He arranged travel both to and from the Airport via a taxi van which was very reasonable and informed us of some local restaurants which were excellent. As we arrived late in the evening Enzo had bought some essentials for us on the first night so we could relax and not have to find somewhere to get shopping (although there are two shops within a 5 min walking distance of the apartment. Enzo was also very flexible with check in and check out times and remaining payments etc for the apartment. I certainly would not hesitate to book the smart traveller's house again if I visited Rome and would recommend to anyone wanting a full on visit to Rome but also the ability to relax in the evenings...Fantastic holiday thank you Enzo!

Outstanding for a group or family

Great place to stay in Rome for a group or family. Clean and in great condition, we recommend this apartment highly. First, my compliments to Enzo. Excellent communication before the stay, making sure we had all arrangements in place. He also met us at the train station, which was really nice as the first time is a little confusing. Enzo also was able to accommodate a last minute change and our arrival a day early. Outstanding customer service. Download WhatsApp for convenient messaging with Enzo from anywhere in the world. The apartment itself is very nice and comfortable. We had 8 staying all were comfortable. The bunk beds make bringing kids convenient. 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms - plenty for handling a group. Air conditioning in each bedroom was welcome. Kitchen is small, but functional. If you cook, there is not a lot of room to eat as a group. Neighborhood is safe and generally quiet for a high density location. About a 15 minute walk to the subway. Although after a day walking Rome, it seems a long way. Two of our party did encounter a thief in the train station. Fortunately, he was unsuccessful and I'm sure that it's possible at any station. You have to keep your guard up everywhere in Rome. Grocery store and pharmacy are nearby as are pubs and cafe's. The 85 bus is very close and runs directly to the colosseum. Bus system is a little confusing. We found that using google maps was the easiest way to figure out the route as well as know when to get off for a transfer. Enjoy Rome and enjoy staying with Enzo. Recommended.
