We, a family of four, had an absolutely wonderful two-weeks-stay in the appartment, which comprises two floors of the beautiful stone house of Marie-France and Jacques. The house in the charming village of Olivo is built into the slope to which the village nestles. Despite its age -the house is hundreds of years old- it has been meticulously restored and stylishly designed by the owners, is spacious and well equipped.
The owners, who live on the upper floors of the house, were welcoming, always very kind, attentive and helpful.
A baker's vending car stops four days a week almost directly in front of the house, so the supply of fresh bread and baguette is secured.
The nearest supermarket is in Macinaggio, a port about a 5 km (10 min) drive away. Therefore, a car is essential.
In Macinaggio you will find additional shopping possibilities and numerous restaurants and cafés directly at the harbor.
The location of the house in the village of Olivo in the immediate neighborhood to Rogliano is fantastic. From the terrace you can enjoy the view of the Mediterranean and some isles. The house can serve as the starting point for hiking trips through the villages of the Northern Cape or to Centuri. Sandy beaches of Macinaggio or Tamarone can be easily reached by car within 10 minutes. Tamarone beach is reached over a dust road. However, it is recommended to rather hike on the old path of the douaniers (customs officers) .
Not far away from the official beaches, there are many opportunities for snorkeling where you can explore the underwater animal world of the Mediterranean even with children.
Bastia is only a ~40 km away. This may stretch to a 60 to 90 minutes drive due to the curvy road, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the view of the sea and the villages or their ports.
This was a memorable holiday and the warm sunny weather every day was a bonus.
We absolutely recommend the house of Marie-France and Jacques.
