Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the pool heating, we actually gave you 3 additional days of heating above and beyond what you paid for. It just so happened that the heater shuts off after three days. Once you let Clete know it was off, he gave you more days of heated pool time for free. I reached out to you a number of times to be sure everything was working property. Since our property manager tends to stay out of the way of our guests, he's not always checking the temp of the pool. A simple heads up to him sounds like it did the trick. Regarding the workers, we have a 5 acre estate with a 6000 square foot home. The home is rented 80% of the time so inevitably there are times where repairs need to be made to ensure that all of the sports facilities are in working order. Additionally we have landscapers who come weekly to keep the grounds looking good. It's impossible to schedule the landscaping crew around the individual bookings. The pool table broke from the last set of guests who stayed in the home and the week you were in the house was the repair mans first availability. When I texted you to ask about sending a repair man you responded "No Worries" If you didn't want someone coming to repair I would have hoped you would have let me know in which case I would have rescheduled him for another day. While renting someones home does give you an element of privacy beyond what you would get at a hotel, there are still interactions that need to be made with the owner in order to ensure that everything is working properly. VRBO is a community that relies on feedback. Regarding the co-owner, it's stated very clearly in our description and home manual when he will be on property playing tennis. He enters from the opposite side of the property from a separate entrance. Since most people are clear on this before booking, we've never had a complaint about this. It seems maybe you didn't read the description of the home as we make a point to mention it multiple times. We pride ourselves on offering the finest and cleanest quality sheets, towels and pillows which in my mind are the most important part of a comfortable stay. The furniture and styling of the home can be seen clearly in the photos. I would recommend for your future stays that you communicate more clearly with the owner. It was frustrating on my end to be emailing, texting and calling you to check in with no response.

HI Alissa, I'm sorry you were disappointed in the cleanliness of the home. We have had the same cleaners for over 6 years and they have always done a wonderful job with the home. I've had a chance to go over some of the details with them and they are promising to do better in the future. We have also enlisted a sheet service to come in so that our cleaners can focus more on deep cleaning the house. To address some of the items you mentioned, we feel like some of your claims were over exaggerated and could have been easily remediated. A cup at the far end of the 5 acre lot near the tennis court and a tissue in the cabinet were things that could be easily picked up by our housekeeper or house manager, however you were not willing to allow us the opportunity to remedy the situation. Additionally, some of the claims, like mold on the counter, were unfounded. We found no mold on any countertops in the home, I don't recall you mentioning that in our text correspondence, nor did we see any photos of this, so I'm a bit confused by this claim. There was also the complaint of flies. We sent the exterminator over to the home the following day after your complaint and he found no infestation, so again, this was a bit confusing for us. The house happens to be on 5 acres of landscaped grasses, trees, and greenery and for that reason our exterminator sprays in and around the home for bugs on a weekly schedule and is very familiar with the home and grounds. Regarding the single cockroach. If doors are left open, it's rare, but at times, bugs can enter the home. That is why we ask that people keep the doors closed. Regarding your comment about me requesting photos, we were looking for what you meant when you said there was "trash all over the place", so we could discuss this with our housekeeping. We were surprised when the photos came back of an empty plastic cup 300 feet away from the home and a few small items in the cabinet of the house. When a tenant wants to cancel their stay in the middle of our high season, it's important for us to understand all the details and see photos of what you are referencing. If you felt like us asking for photos was "stressful" I apologize. As far as asking you to cancel your reservation online...that is what VRBO suggested since you were initiating the cancellation. In the 7 years I've been on VRBO, I've never had to refund 5 days of someone's stay, so I had to reach out to VRBO for the correct protocol. I do not have the ability on my end to cancel someone's reservation once the stay has begun. I do not work for VRBO, I am simply a homeowner working through their website. If you had an issue with canceling your stay, it's something you should discuss directly with them. We were under no obligation to give any refund given the contract and under the circumstances, so to complain that you got only 5 days refunded seems inappropriate.. Again, I'm sorry you guys decided to cancel your stay. I hope in the future you and your in-laws have a better experience renting homes through VRBO. We will be upping our cleaning game in the meantime.
