Das Cottage Mary Rose ist ein wunderschönes strohgedecktes Häuschen aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Es ist eines der wenigen verbliebenen in Irland, von denen Sie träumen, wenn Sie an Irland denken. The property was a lovely thatched roof cottage. The hot tub and amazing gardens were a highlight. It is an older cottage and could use some upkeep. Timothy, the caretaker, was a delight and helped us become acquainted to the area upon arrival. This was a good location to visit the Ring of Kerry and Dingle. Thank you!!

We are very happy that you enjoyed the cottage and the grounds. The cottage is a constant labor of Love and we are always planning what is next to be done. The cottage dates back to the mid 1700’s and is on the Republic of Irelands protected structures. There are only about 1000 of them left. Our caretakers are amazing and love what they do. It was such a pleasure to have you as our guests.

It was beautiful Irish cottage. The gardens are in progress but still amazing. Stepping outside and camellia blooming, azalea and roses it was heavenly. We didn’t get to use the hot tub because we were to busy.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay! The gardens do feature many camellia, azalea and rhododendron, including our 25 ft. In the east garden. Our palm, hydrangeas and Monkey Puzzle are really interesting plants also. And of course, our wild fuchsia. A garden is always in progress with and we are always developing different sections. It is a paradise for local birds. When I was there in April my Merlin bird device noted 10 different birds. Thank you for being our guests.

A beautifully snug little cottage in Castleisland Had everything we needed and didnt want for anything. Quite literally down the road from Hughes Bar for a pint by the fire. It was a good location for day tripping to Dingle and Killarney with a host of other villages to visit like NewCastle West and Adare.

Cottage Mary Rose is a listed, Protected Structure. We mix the old with the new. Our hearth room (as shown in our photos) has a large, antique, padded bench with pillows. There is also a very comfortable settee. Up in the loft there is an additional , comfortable chair that our caretaker would happily bring down if requested. Belfast (farm sinks) are extremely popular world wide and of course are used in kitchens. Ours are original keeping in with the character of the cottage. I cut and pasted an article below. A Belfast sink is a traditional, deep, white ceramic or fireclay sink, featuring a distinctive weir overflow that separates it from other similar styles. Originally developed in the 18th century in Belfast, Ireland, these sinks were designed to be large and deep to manage high-volume water use, which was more available there than in London. They are popular for their farmhouse aesthetic, durability, and practical, roomy basin for washing large pots and pans. All of our bedding is very comfortable and we use excellent linens. The en-suite has a beautiful, very comfortable King size bed, so for some it may be tight but worth it for a great nights sleep. As far as added comfort, we have increased water pressure for amazing showers, a Jacuzzi Tub in the main bath and a massage shower in the en-suite. On top of all of this you can enjoy our new hot tub on our large back deck as you listen to the rushing stream below☘️

The cottage is lovely, and modern equipped. The jacuzzi is really great. The garden is beautiful. And from there we made day trips to the Kerry way and Limerick. Nearby is a church and a pub. We have had a good stay and the housekeepers were very helpful.

Difficult to find, don’t trust the GPS, go to Hughes Bar, it’s just a bit down the road from there. Once there it is the most beautiful, magical place I have ever been. The grounds are wonderful, with a babbling brook in the back, behind the deck. Caroline and Timmy were most helpful getting us to the cottage and settled in. I can’t say enough good things, it is truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Great stay in the irish countryside!

Quaint old fashioned rustic irish cottage just 30 min drive from killarney. Beautiful grounds, deck, hot tub. Area is scenic and quiet. Cottage had all necessary amenities. Easy communication with owner as well.

The cottage is lovely and everything we hoped for when booking a thatched roof cottage. We enjoyed listening to the stream that runs through the backyard and how cozy and homey the cottage felt. The only negative about our stay was that it was too short.

Beautifully Restored Cottage

This cottage has been restored to bring a vintage Irish home alive, and updated with modern day conveniences. It is beautifully decorated, and supplied with everything a weary traveler could need. We found it neat and tidy, and very well maintained. It is located far enough away from the noise and traffic of the city, yet an easy drive to get you there.

The loveliest character cottage

Cannot say enough good things about this little cottage. It’s excellently located to all the best attractions in Kerry, and it’s perfectly situated in the country but close enough to Castleisland to make getting groceries and going to the local pub easy. The caretaker, Timmy, built a fire for us twice and a local man gave my Dad an autographed book of his own poetry. Absolutely perfect accommodation for a family trip.

Authentic Cottage

The Cottage Mary Rose has been updated but still holds onto the charm and history of Ireland we were looking for.

Excellent stay

This cottage was the perfect introduction to Ireland and such a unique stay. There aren’t many thatch roof cottages anymore and especially rare to be along side a river with a hot tub and beautiful garden. It was a dream to stay at and the contacts were really easy to work with given our flight changes. Would absolutely recommend.

Quaint cottage

If you want a traditional Irish cottage, this is perfect. Not new and modern, but charming and cozy. Country setting, but near town.

My family is of Irish descent. Our first time to the Emerald Isle was in 1996. I fell in love with it as every one does and knew then that some day I would have a home there.........a Thatched Cottage. Being involved in architechture,I had always been fascinated in thatched roof cottages. When I purchased Cottage Mary Rose in 2000 I never realised how much I would fall in love with it. It is my true passion, named after my mother, Mary Rose Bowler, I wanted to share this amazing bit of Irish History with others....

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

I wanted a historic thatched cottage off of the beaten track but close enough to tourist attractions. I am an avid gardener and knew that this location was perfect for a great garden. There are fuschia & camelias every where! The stream was the frosting on the cake. So dramatic because of the ravine and rushing water below. The sound is so calming and tranquil. I preferred the small village of Cordal because you get a TRUE feel of the real Ireland instead of the touristy areas. I was happy enough with the Church and Kearney's Grocer.....I thought all it needed was a pub......my dream was answered and Hughes Pub was built by Sean Hughes a local Cordal lad in 2006. It is a beautiful pub and great for local gab, a great Pint and a game of pool. All with in a 5 minute walk. Our great cottage has stood the test of time. I love sharing this peice of Heaven with others.........

Cottage Mary Rose is a wonderful blend of a living bit of history. Add to this a Jacuzzi tub, rain shower and hot tub over looking a stream and you have it all. We even provide WiFi internet connection. Large kitchen which is wonderful for entertaining. The Heritage cooker is probably the best method of cooking food. Besides the Irish farm table there is also a front patio for dining and the deck where you can dine with the sounds of the peaceful stream and song of the birds. Nothing beats relaxing in the hot tub at the end of a long day while enoying the stars above...........absolute Heaven.............
