Regarding the hot water, we’d like to clarify that the system was checked immediately after checkout and again the following day, and it was functioning properly. The guest before and after your stay did not experience any hot water issues. That said, we’re sorry it didn’t meet your expectations during your visit. As for the noise concern, we did receive multiple noise complaints after 10:00 PM from different first-floor tenants on the same night. We always take these matters seriously to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone in the building. We appreciate every guest’s feedback, but we strongly disagree with several statements made in this review. First, this is a fully licensed and regularly maintained upstairs private unit, clearly described in the listing. It is not a “house falling apart,” and we have ongoing tenants in the lower level as disclosed. The unit is professionally cleaned and inspected prior to each check-in. Regarding the bathroom claims: both showers and toilets were fully functional prior to arrival. We did not receive any message during the stay about plumbing issues. Had we been notified immediately, we would have addressed it right away. Plumbing backups do not occur from a single normal flush unless improper materials are used. The kitchen does have hot water, and it functions normally. Like many homes, it may take a short moment to warm up. We provide standard cookware and utensils consistent with the listing and typical short-term rental standards. The home is stocked appropriately for guests, and we have never had prior complaints about insufficient items. As for cleanliness: the unit is cleaned before every stay. If anything was overlooked (such as a cup or small item), we would have corrected it immediately if informed. No message was sent during the reservation regarding these concerns. The living room light and fan are operational. Broken shades and maintenance issues described here were not reported during the stay. We cannot fix problems we are unaware of. Construction in the neighborhood is temporary and outside of our control, and we are transparent that occasional neighborhood activity may occur — as is common in residential areas. We take our property seriously and maintain it responsibly. This guest stayed for a hockey tournament and did not report any of these concerns during the stay, which would have allowed us to resolve them promptly. We stand by the condition and value of our property and encourage future guests to review our overall history of positive experiences.

We’re very disappointed to receive a 2-star rating with no explanation, especially considering the circumstances of this reservation. This guest arrived at the property with two dogs, despite our clearly stated strict no-pet policy outlined in the listing and house rules prior to booking. This is not a minor oversight—bringing multiple pets into a non-pet-friendly property directly violates the agreed terms and can impact cleanliness, property condition, and future guests (including those with allergies). As soon as this was identified, we addressed the situation calmly and professionally. Rather than enforcing penalties or additional charges, we chose to fully refund the entire stay, even though our cancellation policy would not have required us to do so. This was done purely as a goodwill gesture to resolve the issue quickly and respectfully. Unfortunately, the guest became upset when asked to comply with the house rules and chose to leave. Despite our effort to handle the situation fairly and generously, we have now received a 2-star rating with no context, which does not reflect the reality of the stay or our standards as hosts. We kindly ask future guests to carefully review and respect house rules before booking to avoid situations like this and ensure a smooth experience for everyone.
