Relaxing Mountaintop Retreat in the Northern Berkshires

Sitting atop the former Chickley Alps, this magical home is nestled between a XC Ski resort and conservation land. The many decks overlook the 50 acre property, which piqued the interest of acclaimed children's author, Eric Carle to build an inspiring retreat in the 1970s. Gather in the studio, where you may find some remnants of his artistic process splattered around the room. With 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a workspace, and 3 distinct gathering spaces, there is room for all.

Welcome to Hawley where nature provides adventure. Guests have access to some of the Berkshires most beautiful trails, highly rated mountain biking, downhill and cross country skiing, white water rafting, fly fishing, leaf peeping, country stores and more!

Our property is 50 acres and includes its own fishing pond. Bring your rod, hiking boots and snow shoes as you don’t have to leave to experience nature.

Pets: Well behaved, housebroken pets are welcome. Please note our property is also home to outdoor wildlife. Pets should not be left unattended outside. Please utilize the provided waste bags to clean up after your pets.

No unauthorized parties or large gatherings.

Fire: Wood Burning Stove in Studio is for fashion and not for function, please do not attempt usage. Absolutely no smoking or vaping allowed inside the home, if you take a smoke break outside, please dispose in the provided containers. Under MA law, fireworks are prohibited. No candles.

Sauna: Doctors reccommend no more than 15 - 20 minutes per session, please follow the posted guidelines as it pertains to your medical needs.

Mountaintop Location: As noted, this property is located atop a mountain. Particularly during the winter months, guests should plan on arriving via a capable all-wheel or 4x4 vehicle. The road is cared for by the town, but Hosts are not responsible for the guests arrival to the property. Hosts will have driveway plowed prior to guest arrival.

Unfenced water in yard: note we have a small koi pond in the yard. There is no fencing, please mind your step and keep watch of small children and pets.

Self Check In with Keypad: Guests can self check in via digital locks. Guests will be provided with unique code for their stay.
