I am sorry that Dennis didnt find the house 5-star ( as have many other guests.) The oven is indeed working and the AC has been upgraded. It is difficult to keep the house really cool when there is a very high heat wave. Three bedrooms have individual AC's. The house is over 100 years-old with, for better or worse, a vintage charm.

:aura and family came for Memorial Day weekend which was unseasonably cold and rainy. Im so glad the house provided a good setting for all they shared even without much outdoor fun. Delightful group.

So glad the group enjoyed the charm of the house and its proximity to town. The “ ladybugs” are asphids that were brought over from China and introduced in the area as they control another insect that was eating foliage. Most folks welcome them but I apologize if a nuisance. Bob and I spoke several times before he came and communicated well. Perhaps I should have said more about the antique vibe and well preserved older age of the house. It might have inspired him to treat the place with greater respect and keep up the communication when it comes to reporting the many little things he left broken. I am in fact replacing some of the worn furniture and so glad he enjoyed the stay

I regret to hear that Nancy and her group did not enjoy the house as much as other groups. Their stay took place during an extreme heat wave and it is true that the 3rd floor bedrooms get warm under those circumstances. We will, as will many other hosts, find ways of adapting to climate changes before next summer. Im surprised that the trains were active, they are not usually, nor have others been disturbed by them. Yes we do have stairs and two claw foots as described. I bought a brand new barbecue for this group and sent an AC installer during their stay, so sorry to learn belatedly that there were still issues. I do prefer that guests be comfortable and happy and the vast majority are, thankfully.

Very glad Bethany enjoyed the house and the area. I’m not aware of any discrepancies between beds as they are versus how described in listing. If concerns, let’s clarify in advance. Propane tanks are full; sorry that during Bethany stay there seems to have been a leak. All fixed.

Guests like Fred and his friends make it all worthwhile. I want to say that he was an ideal guest in every way - punctual, positive and obviously appreciative, judging not only by this detailed and glowing review but also by the loving , immaculate way he left the house. Come back, Fred and bring more folks like you. True enough, it may not be for everyone, but those who choose to come to a redone 19th century, "shabby-chic" house, really do have a good time. And the village itself is worth a detour.

Glad that Leslie enjoyed house despite her reservations. But Im sorry of course that she did not enjoy it as much as our many other groups did throughout a busy summer/fall. I apologize that I had not updated descrip re: cable but most guests are happy with internet. I politely told her before she came that fire stick would not work. Surprised that she did not find the large living/kitchen/ dining area conducive to groups, or the downstairs salon: reviews and feedback speak of many happy friend/family events in those spaces.

I'm very sorry that Caitlin's experience was only moderately comfortable. As she herself says, I am a very responsive host. I have a housekeeper and handyman minutes away; had she mentioned it they would have set up extra fans, even bought more juice glasses and mugs. No one else was bothered by the few personal items but they would have been removed immediately had she let me know. There is plenty of closet space, all the dressers are nearly empty. Again, more communication would have really helped. Other reviews express a different response to our 19th century home with its well worn antiques. It is not for those who seek the contemporary over the vintage. We are however scrupulously clean. I have had the house checked for mold. There is none. There is sometimes a vegetative dampness outside depending on the weather that can misleadingly give that impression. While no other guests have experienced it, I will nonetheless recheck the matter. I take it very seriously. The comfort and happiness of our many satisfied guests is very important. Again, the house is not contemporary or sleek. It is very well kept up, thoroughly cleaned with personnel on call and offers lots of room and a distinct charm in a lovely village. I like to hear from my guests. I will be buying more fans, glasses and mugs. I expect this review to be balanced by others who really love the place, as have others in the recent past. I might add that we were communicating well, Caitlin told me several times that all was well when I inquired. Communication broke off however when I questioned her about the presence of a dog that I did not recall ever discussing. That might be useful info for her future hosts.
