Amazing historic home on 3 acres walking distance to Kenmare. Beautifully appointed home with an amazing kitchen, sitting and dining room. Great yard. Bedrooms all with en suite baths. Absolutely one of the nicest homes we have ever visited. Would highly recommend.

My family of 13 spent a week at Shelburne Lodge. We are between 8 and 78 years old. 8 adults and 5 children. The house was wonderful, well equipped and close to town. We ate in and went out to eat. Many options are available. The property manager was lovely and very helpful.I would recommend this house highly.

The house was absolutely perfect for our family. The hosts were welcoming and very responsive. Everything we needed was there to help make our vacation memorable. The location was fantastic, short walk to everything so we did not have to rely on a car the whole time.

Our family of 17 celebrated a special birthday at this wonderful home. Even though it was large enough to accommodate all of us, it was a warm and comfortable place for all of us. It was within walking distance to many restaurants, pubs, grocery stores and golf course. Patrick and Victoria were always within a phone call or email if we needed them. I would highly recommend the Shelburne Lodge and if I could I would rate it 5 1/2 stars.

The Shelburne Lodge is an absolute gem of a vacation home and a truly unique, authentic Irish experience! We rented the house for a week in early August 2026 with a group of family and friends. The Lodge is amazing in the way that they protected the original history and charm of the property yet have updated the amenities to make it very comfortable for the modern traveler. Patrick, Anne-Marie and team were fantastic hosts with great communication and assistance before, during and after the trip. They are the perfect mix of helpfulness if we needed them and hands-off when we were enjoying our vacation! We would absolutely rent this property again!The kitchen is equipped for catering, so has all you need to make amazing meals for your group (including a large grill outside). The 10 bedrooms were very comfortable, clean and beautifully appointed. Many of our group commented that they had the best night's sleep in a long time! (Pro Tip - rooms 9 & 10 in the guesthouse have bidets!)The home is a 5-minute walk to Kenmare center, with a safe, accessible sidewalk the entire way into town. There are 3 grocery stores within walking distance (and a handy quick mart around the corner w/ off-license and ice for emergency refills!) Considering the close proximity to all this convenience, the property is very large, beautifully landscaped and quite secluded, so we felt like we were in a private oasis dining al fresco in the lovely garden each evening.

The Shelburne lodge was absolutely stunning! The house and property exceeded what we were imagining.. Im not sure photos or written description could convey the charm and luxury of this grand home… we had 17 people for a family reunion …3 generations ranging in age from 4 to 75. It was perfect for all of us! So many bedrooms and beautiful baths.. big grand windows that overlook a formal garden and lawn…right out of the 18th century. The owners keep this place up impeccably… and have thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and convenient. We brought soccer balls and other sports equipment so the children had a blast playing games outside after dinner .. into the late evening. The grounds are perfect for this! The kitchen was fully equipped and after active days we chose mostly to cook on the new gas grill and eat outside in the garden. The tables easily sat all of us. Golf across the street.. lakes, beaches and stunning scenic hikes a short drive away. Pubs were fun with World Cup happening.. The Park Hotel across road for a glass of wine or a meal is also a wonderful option. We’ll never stop talking about our stay here.. and the Irish people …..including our responsive hosts … are some of the kindest and friendliest people you’ll find anywhere!

A Perfect Stay for All Ages. We’ll Be Back!

Our family, spanning ages 2 to 65, stayed at Shelburne Lodge for a week and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm welcome from Victoria, the host. She met us at the lodge, gave us a full tour, and was always quick to respond to any questions we had throughout our stay.The lodge itself was perfect for a large family. Every bedroom had its own en suite bathroom, which made it incredibly comfortable and convenient for everyone. The home was spotless and beautifully maintained, and the spacious yard was a big hit, perfect for the kids to play and for the adults to relax and enjoy the scenery.The kitchen was a true chef’s dream, fully stocked with everything we could possibly need and more. Cooking meals together was a joy with such high quality appliances and thoughtful touches throughout.We absolutely recommend Shelburne Lodge to anyone looking for a special place to stay in the area. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Great Location, Tons of Irish Charm!

The Shelburne Lodge is a quintessential Irish vacation home which was perfect for our large family holiday exploring the charms of County Cork and County Kerry. It is strategicly located near the Ring of Kerry. Because it is within walking distance of Kenmare, we were able to easily enjoy the many charming pubs, restaurants and local shops that are found in town. It is also conveniently located within minutes of three modern and well stocked grocery stores. The home dates from the 1700s with beautiful architecture and Irish details including a typical English influenced front door and entrance. The 10 unique bedrooms offered everyone what they wanted, each including an ensuite bathroom. There is an efficient, fully stocked, commercial kitchen where we were easily able to prepare many meals for our large group. One stand out, the house is carefully curated and fully stocked for a vacation that feels like home. This even includes having umbrellas by the front door for our use, since it is Ireland. The grounds and gardens are lush and draw you outside to explore the beautiful Irish country side.Victoria was very helpful and accommodating to our group and quick to respond to any questions we had.We thoroughly enjoyed a truly unique and memorable experience at the Shelburne Lodge.

Great experience - we loved it! We had 13 adults and two infants at Shelburne Lodge for a family reunion in July. We found this to be a great location for day trips across southwestern Ireland - and only about 500 yards down the sidewalk to the downtown pubs and shops of Kenmare. It is also convenient to grocery stores and a pharmacy. The lodge is a remarkable historic structure, accurately depicted in the photos on the VRBO website. There were plenty of bedrooms and baths to accomodate everyone - and all were first class with en suite baths. We had plenty of room to hang out in the two large sitting rooms, the office, and the dining room/bar area. With wonderful weather, we ended up dining out on the patio almost every evening where there are two nice dining tables with umbrellas, 10 comfortable outdoor chairs and 10 stools. There is a big working kitchen with gas cooktop, gas and electric ovens, microwave, air fryer, etc. and two large refrigerators. In addition, there is a large (8-burner) gas grill that we used quite a bit. We found the house to be well maintained and well-stocked with all the things one might need. The grounds were also a nice surprise, with flowers, apple trees and a fenced pitch where the kids could play. There are also several magnificent trees that one would be hard pressed to find anywhere else.Highly recommend it.

Beautiful house and gardens. Plenty of room for a large group and the outdoor spaces were great for kids. We had 20 people and never felt cramped. Kitchen was well-equipped and the location of the house is great both in Kenmare and on the Ring of Kerry. Patrick and AnneMarie were wonderful hosts and super responsive. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back.
