Beautiful scenery, great location to 5th avenue and area attractions. Maintenance was needed on two of the four mini-splits (AC units) during our stay, which were promptly addressed. Main issue for us was we booked a beach vacation but there is no beach. The listing pictures are outdated and severely misleading especially during the winter months. The pictures show a fairly expansive beach with loungers directly in front of the property and part of the view from condo (which was nice), but due to erosion the beach has been completely washed away. You can walk the beach off to the right of the property but directly in front is gone. Reason for lower rating is due to the listing being inaccurate, where we would have chosen somewhere else to stay to have the main beach aspect of our vacation. If you don’t care about the beach, then you will be very pleased with the property and staff.

Family Vacay in Playa

Brought my entire family down for a vacation in Playa del Carmen. The condo was great and the communication back and forth was excellent. The location was less than one block off of 5th Ave - which is fantastic.

Old Roommates annual trip!!

This is our second time at ElFaro. We especially like this location. Both units we have used were clean and had excellent locations. There are 3 couples in our group, all previous college roommates. We enjoy the pool, the ocean front and the proximity to endless restaurants.

Beautiful Condo on Beach

The condo was just as described. Great location for family get away. Even though it was difficult to communicate with the property owner, the property management team was amazing and quick to help with any questions. I highly recommend this location. WhatsApp is a must for easy communication. I recommend contacting Jonathan with Xcursion 307 for shuttle service from the airport and if interested in exploring Tulum. Thanks to the property management team and Jonathan and Jaime with Xcursion 307 we had a fantastic time.

I've stayed in several units and you better not hope this company takes over to many here. 3 month cancelation policy after that your BEAT, horrific! Spending premium dollars I expect premium product. The AC turns off if there no motion. I want to come back to a cool place after being in o95 weather. It up to you now

My cancellation policy is set to “strict” and I know I am not the only person to have that or it wouldn’t be an option for owners on VRBO. Electricity in Mexico is very expensive and in order to keep rates reasonable, we have installed door sensors to ensure people are not running the ac’s with doors open. This is nothing new we have stayed in many hotels and condos that have this same thing or something similar.

Overall very satisfied but previous renters left late which made our check in after 5pm. All the previous comments are accurate, great pool, views, layout, location/restaurants but… the tiny bugs do come out if cooking (but that’s everywhere I expect), it’s a bit loud (but didn’t disturb our sleep), beach is eroded directly in front of property (can swim in the ocean next door), WiFi not strong upstairs Overall very pleased!

Beautiful Condo in a Perfect Location

My family stayed for week in this luxurious 3 bedroom condo. It was exactly as described and pictured on VRBO. Check in was smooth and all our questions answered immediately. The condo was very well appointed with anything you could possibly need. There were even games and beach toys for children. It was also impeccably clean and all the beds and furniture were very comfortable. The location could not be better. It is right on the beach and just one block away from the main street. Tons of restaurants, shops and bars are within walking distance. Also, the pool is the best I have ever seen. It has many levels so even little ones can enjoy it. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We look forward to staying here again!

This place was beautiful and would have been worth the money if everything worked. I can understand a couple hiccups, but this place needs a lot of attention. One of the toilets was broke and never fixed after we reported it. The blinds are a safety hazard (fell on my son in laws head when he tried to close them) same bedrooms AC broke, had maintenance there for over 4 hours trying to fix without success. The blinds downstairs at least had a sign that read do not use. If you can’t use them why have them? That makes the living room sofa unusable at certain times of the day because it’s too bright to sit there. TV didn’t work in one of the bedrooms. WiFi was constantly on and off. We received no email on how to access the condo so we we had no idea if we were going to be able to get in when we arrived. Should probably mention somewhere they will give you access at the reception desk. Got locked out multiple times from keypad malfunctions and had to be let in. (Malfunction a couple times, then dead batteries) The property and condo is beautiful but there were too many issues to deal with. I would have preferred another location without the constant need for maintenance. Maintenance of the unit seems to be an afterthought and very low priority. With exception of the AC, all of these things are very simple fixes that don’t take much time or effort. I would love to stay again if everything worked properly.

Listing accuracy is important.

We’ve stayed at ElFaro several times in various units and enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately, this stay wasn’t very smooth at all. The listing and photos were inaccurate. The listing showed and described all sleeping areas as having televisions, only 2 TV’s in the entire unit- living area and master bedroom. Unit has cable service but was out for first 2 nights, manager restored service. When I asked about it, owner/manager said people bring their own devices and use the internet for streaming so no need to replace broken TV’s. However, the WiFi isn’t strong enough to work upstairs regularly to stream. We didn’t receive any check-in instructions so we had trouble contacting anyone for a door code and parking info (owner blamed manager for oversight). The balcony furniture did not have any cushions and was uncomfortable although the manager brought some on day 2 of the stay. For the money paid, the value was not great. Cleanliness was adequate but the bathrooms had lots of black hair and hard water build up on the glass and fixtures. Overall not a great stay but we always love visiting Playa area.

I apologize that feel that your stay didn't go smoothly. We have always prided ourselves on having well equipped and well maintained units. We had sent out the patio cushions to be recovered as they were torn and faded and had been promised that they would be back in time for your arrival but unfortunately (like many things in Mexico) they were late! As for the TV's, yes we only have 2 in the unit. Based on past experience most people travel with Ipads or laptops so we didn't replace them all after we lost them all due to the sargassm in Playa. Most people prefer Netflix on their own device over Mexican satellite TV. I apologize about not receiving any info prior to arrival--I am dealing with my property manager with this as they should have contacted you and provided arrival info. I did get you the door code as well as my property managers contact info before you arrived at the unit so that you had access to the unit without any delay.

Best vacation ever!

Very clean and spacious condo conveniently located near everything!! We stayed almost 2 weeks without a car. 5th Avenue is only a 2 minute walk and Walmart is only 10. We loved the condo's interior and the sea view is even better than pictured. Two things requiring interior improvement: bed mattresses are extremely firm (we purchased egg crate type mattress topper foam from Walmart and left them behind upon departure), and the bedrooms' Cuby smart thermostat systems would not detect a person sleeping at night. They would shut off the A/C units to conserve electricity which made for uncomfortably warm sleeping. The condo property's exterior was very well kept and beautiful except the beach front. We were shocked to arrive and find that the beach side of the El Faro property was destroyed in early December by a storm. The wooden beach decking and the showers on the infinity side of the pool were no longer useful and caution taped off. There is no useful beach in front of El Faro except for a narrow path for pedestrians to pass along the shore side of the property. We did use the sand beach three properties south of El Faro at the Aloha Paddleboard Club. The El Faro staff is top notch. Everyone was very nice and super helpful from the front desk managers, porters, security, maintenance, and housekeeping. To summarize, we made a couple of small adjustments and had the best vacation our family has ever had at El Faro in Playa Del Carmen in comparison to 6 other Mexican vacations.

Perfect vacation condo

Our family stayed here for 7 nights in mid-March - 2 adults and 3 kids (10-, 7- & 2-yr olds). Perfect location - right on a flat, white sand beach; directly behind the complex is the heart of 5th Ave; and a easy 5 minute stroll to Wal-Mart if you need any groceries. Of all the hotels/condos on the beach strip, El Faro has the largest and most kid friendly pool (plus, it is super clean!). Definitely do the $45 per hr poolside massage and there is free underground parking if you rented a car from the airport. The condo is very clean, well-maintained and spacious. Matter of fact, we didn’t even need the downstairs 3rd bedroom because the upstairs 2 king en-suites are very roomy. The condo had everything we needed and this particular unit has wi-fi and a private hot tub. The only thing that caused us concern is that the upstairs railings, that overlook the family room, are spaced wide and a baby/toddler can conceivably fall through. So, we always had to closely supervise the 2-yr old when he was on the 2nd floor. We thought the beach restaurants right near El Faro offered much better food/atmosphere than any of the places on 5th Ave. We particularly liked Zenzi and Fusion, as well as the restaurant attached to El Faro, Wicky's (which will also deliver right to your pool chaise). We did 3 day outings while we were there. We all enjoyed the ¾ day trip to the Coba ruins and a visit to one of the nearby centotes. We also went to Xplor (which was great for the older 2 kids but the baby couldn’t participate in most of the activities) and Xcaret (which we all thought was boring, including the dinner show where the food was inedible). Working with Marissa on the booking was very easy and smooth. The front desk staff at El Faro was also super friendly and helpful. We will definitely return!

Excellent stay!!!

This was an overall excellent stay. The view alone is breathtaking! We had a few issues with things not working and the air was out for a (which was a bit frustrating with the temps in Mexico) but all issues were QUICKLY resolved. Maintenance and housekeeping were very friendly as well as those at the front. The property manager quickly responded to all inquiries. I'd definitely recommend this property and would stay again. Everyone was pleased. Plenty of space. Pool was awesome, beach is a 1 minute walk and 5th street is not even a couple of minutes away although most reviews say 5 minutes, it's much closer! Book the stay!

Perfect location!

We couldn't have asked for a more convenient location for our stay in Playa del Carmen: steps from 5th Avenue, amazing restaurants, and shopping and a short walk to the Cozumel ferry. There are many convenience stores nearby as well, and Wal-Mart is a 10 minute walk for items you may have forgotten (as we did). The condo itself is amazing! The air conditioning was a BLESSING for those hot, humid days, the pool was just wonderful, and there is plenty of room for a family to have their own space. It is also just steps from the beach. We would stay here again!

Great stay!

The property was in a great location, walking distance to downtown! The pool and beach were very clean, looks just like the pictures.

Direct Views of the Ocean- Beautiful

The condo is even nicer than the pictures. They had everything you could possibly need including boogie boards, board games and video games. We most defiantly will be back!

Excellent condo and location

We came with our 5 kids ages 14-28 and had an amazing time! We stayed in a 2 bedroom last year with two kids at El Faro, and couldn’t wait to return with all of our kids and rent a 3 bedroom, and this condo did not disappoint. Any issues we had were fixed right away by the property manager. He was very responsive and helpful. Last year in September, there was so much seaweed we couldn’t get in the ocean, but this time there was very little seaweed so we really enjoyed the warm ocean. So I’m not sure if there are “seaweed seasons?” I’d sure like to know to avoid in the future! The pool was awesome, and the kids loved it. The walking mall behind El Faro is loud and bustling, and we could hear some noise, but with the AC units on, we slept just fine. The patio was the best part as we sat outside and ate family meals and took in the stellar ocean views. We’ll be back!

Great place to stay

We have stayed at El Faro in the past so decided to stay again. This unit was great. Had all the amenities we needed! The pool was very nice and the pool side massages were FANTASTIC! We really liked the location as well. The beach condos are all very near 5th avenue but some are in better spots than others…El Faro is right in the middle so it is easy to get to both ends! Thank you for a great place to stay!

Great location

Perfectly located to enjoy the main area for dining and shopping. Close to ferry was a plus. Great pool area and facility was clean and spacious.

All was great.loved the pool location to 5th ave. Washer was finicky needs to be looked ar beds were comfortable. Patio needs softer cushens front desk and security was very helpful

Great Condo Great Location

What a view from a great condo. Loved this place perfect foe an extended getaway with a large group. On the beach and next to great shopping.

We are owners of a manufacturers representative company for HVAC products in Saskatchewan Canada. We enjoy holidaying and spending time with family and friends especially in Playa which seems like a second home to us and our three children.

After our first visit to the Mayan Riviera in 2000 we fell in love with the area and kept returning we then decided to purchase our first property at Paseo del Sol in 2004. We enjoy the many great aspects of Playa from the diverse cultures, ease of walking to all restaurants and shops. We find we can enjoy something different every visit and still go back to do our favourite things. The ease of getting to the Mayan Riviera is just another bonus for us and our friends.

El Faro is one of a kind in Playa as it is 1/2 a block from the entertainment district and one block from the famous 5th ave the unique parts of this as you step inside the complex you feel like you stepped into seclusion as the sounds of the action around the complex just seem to disappear. With the onsite 24 hour security your whole family feels completely comfortable day and night. The huge infinity pool with integrated kids pool and the multiple lounging areas around the pool offers a uncrowded feel.
