Come and enjoy our apartment in famous Ocean Beach! Only two blocks from the water, and also very close to restaurants and nightlife. The building is old, and not a 5* hotel, please see details below, but the location is priceless. 5 minutes walking only to the best Bars, restaurants, coffee shops, farmers market, surf shops and all that Ocean beach has to offer! You will feel like a San Diegan by the beach.

I'm not sure why the form is asking about the winery experience. This suite is not close to any wineries that I am aware of. It is close to ocean beach, which is super fun! Awesome vibes. lots to do!

We stayed two nights

The space was tight but had everything we needed the cost was fair. The location was good for exploring San Diego and then making an early trip to the airport. We had a little trouble with the lock the first time but the host was quick to answer the phone and helped to fix the problem.

Perfect location, short walk to beach and through nice neighborhood

We loved the location and there's a cute pool hall bar within 5 minute walk with a nice vibe and juke box. Had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend in this special neighborhood and VRBO! Will hopefully be able to stay here again as we lucked out with the availability.

Small spot but good value!

The place is small but on a budget its great. If you are over 6ft the shower can be a bit of a challenge. The hosts were responsive and the place was nice and clean.

Property was clean and fresh, just like described and photos

We stayed 2 nights wanting to be close to Ocean Beach. Everything went well. It is small, but nice. Offstreet parking was tight with a larger vehicle, but great to have.

Labor Day weekend

The place was great for a weekend stay! It was a bit small but good enough for our small family. We enjoyed how close it was to the beach and neighboring restaurants. The property owner was very communicative, and left everything we’d need for a weekend stay. If we come back to this area, we will probably look into this property again!

Ocean Beach Getaway

The location and the price was great. The place was clean with nice towels and sheets. The kitchen was amply stocked with needed utensils. A designated parking spot was great. A few disappointments were no controls to run the bedroom ceiling fan, no place to hang towels etc anywhere. Adding a few small tables next to the beds and bathroom to set out toiletries and such would be great. The property manager was not responsive but thankfully the owner was staying on site and he did get us an extra fan, replaced the missing hair dryer and tried to find a replacement fan controller. Thumbs up for that. The bed mattresses are overdue for replacement IMHO.All that said we would stay again there as it is very convenient to every thing in OB! Just a few tweaks here and there and it would nearly perfect.

Cute Cozy Space

My boys and I absolutely loved this space! I stayed there with my two teen boys and my 4year old and we all loved it! Beach is just a very little walk away and it’s also a walk away from the strip of local retail shops, restaurants, bars, etc. The host was amazing, communication was great and our messages were responded to in a very timely manner.

Only Ocean Beach

The Beach Bungalow is a great jumping off spot for exploring Ocean Beach. One thing to really highlight is the off street parking - worth its weight in gold. If bungalows didn't have their own parking you could circle the block for days or forever! The unit itself is just like the photos - very small - not a place so much to hang out but a great place for exploring Ocean Beach. Plus it has easy access to Mission Beach, Downtown, and Pt Loma. Super fun!

Look at other reviews of this property on VRBO before booking. The horror stories from other travellers are true. The place has a mold issue, smells terrible, is nowhere close to the photos and the front door doesn’t shut properly leaving guests unsafe from easy break in or pest access. This property needs to be removed from VRBO / Expedia because it’s a gross misrepresentation as it is currently listed. Worst is the hosts attitude when we raised our issue and the way Expedia was unable to help us and the endless back and forth, per another VRBO review, for a refund. AVOID at ALL COSTS.

Poor Communication

I messaged the host via the VRBO app when I arrived to see if I could check in early. After no response for an hour, I texted the host who replied with "Did someone tell you that you could check in early?". I replied saying that I had asked in the VRBO app but received no response. After checking in, I texted asking about how the ceiling fan worked and if we could stay another day. I did not get any response during the entire stay. After we checked out, the host messaged me on the VRBO app asking to rate my stay. When I told them that we were ghosted after checking in, they offered to comp an additional night, but I had already left town. When I asked if they could grant me a partial refund instead, they stopped responding in the VRBO app. Very unprofessional and impossible to get a hold of host which was disappointing as I have not had this experience on VRBO in the past.

I can't actually comment on the property itself as we weren't able to stay. I had the booking confirmed in VRBO but the owner somehow didn't have the booking on her calendar. When I initially booked the property, I had requested a cancellation and didn't receive a response. A few days later however, I reached out and let her know I no longer needed to cancel. I still didn't receive a response and since I still had the booking confirmed, I assumed everything was still set. I reached out to the owner several times in the few days before the booking as well as the day of and the owner communicated with me about check in details and when I would receive them - without ever mentioning that she didn't have my booking on her calendar. This didn't come up until CHECK IN TIME. I was AT THE AIRPORT picking my friend up when I was informed that we wouldn't have a place to stay because she didn't have my reservation on her calendar. I understand that things like this happen, but this should have been noticed in the few days before when I was conversing with the owner.I will say, VRBO took care of us and we ended up having a great time somewhere else.

It was fine but with several hiccups

Honestly we were quite disappointed from the get go. The day we arrived in San Diego I called the phone number that was listed "if I had any questions" to ask if it was possible to drop off our things (it was pouring rain out) and to see if there was a coffee maker as we were stopped at a store to pick up a few items. The woman who answered the phone didn't let me ask her anything - first thing she said to me is "why are you calling this number? This is my personal number" I mentioned that it was the number listed on the message I received and she said well I don't know why they gave it out (not sure who they is), she was extremely curt and rude and asked me to message the listing. How were we to know that it was her "personal #" when it was the info we were sent? We had a lot of trouble with the door code but eventually got in. The place was clean but several items were in a state of disrepair - front door, lights not working, no switch or remote for the light/ceiling fan in one room, and the light outside the front door did not work so it was dark when we came back at night & hard to see to enter the codes in to enter the property. In addition (and not the property owners fault, but) the family staying next door to us were INCREDIBLY noisy, running up & down the porch/deck at 5am (sounded like it was over our heads) and throughout the day, kids yelling & blowing noisemakers at night & early in the morning.

Pros: location, close to the beach, short walk to restaurants & shopsCons- Safety/sketchy door situation (see below)- Dirty floors - soles of our feet were dirty- bathroom sink was backing up- mini fridge had broken handle- selectively responsive host communication- Upon arrival, our door code didn’t work, host responded with a new code- Sometimes the door lock would say “unlocked” but it didn’t unlock- Once inside, we could see that the door was not the original door, and not the door in the listing photos. The new door had metal pull handles on it, unlike a normal door with a doorknob. It didn’t fit the door frame and had large gaps around the edges. The door frame had also been modified with new trim. It did not appear to be a professional installation.- Safety Concerns - We noticed the old door lying in the yard with a big chunk ripped out by the lock. We wondered if there had been a break in. - The host said the damage was caused by a previous intoxicated guest and offered to cover us going out for food and drinks. She said to send her the amount and she would refund us. - She never refunded us, and was unresponsive to these messages, despite being responsive previously. - Insufficient ventilation - we knew there was no AC, but nighttime temps were cooler (enough to need pants and light sweater) so thought it would be ok. The place doesn’t cool down, even with windows open and fans on. It was very hot. Something to consider in the hotter months of the year.
