This was a great place!

Everything was perfect. The view is sensational—Captiva sunsets from the lanai. Plenty of room, a Kuerig Machine, clean, bright furnishings. Loved it.

Great Experience on Captiva

Overall we had a great experience. The location is perfect, you can’t ask for better access to the pool and beach. The condo itself was well maintained and reasonably spacious. Just a minor nitpick or two, for example the beach chairs were limited (one was broken) for a condo that sleeps 6. Communication and check-in/out process with Royal Shell was outstanding. I would definitely stay here again.

South Seas resort is a fabulous place to stay in captiva.

While we enjoyed staying at south seas, this vrbo condo seemed outdated & not up to the south seas standard. Lots of minor issues ( ceiling fan stuck on, limited kitchen utensils, broken beach chairs & umbrellas, clogged shower drain, broken towel bar) made this rental just adequate. We did lock ourselves out one day & royal shell was super helpful & prompt to help. That was impressive. The beach access so close was amazing, and our kids loved the pool. We enjoyed riding our bikes to the north end of the resort to the marina to see the manatees. The osprey nest on property was incredible. All in all, we had a great week & would eagerly return to south seas in the future. But I think this vrbo property needs a little attention.

Summer Vacation Stay

Property location was excellent and check in was easy. Kitchen was well equipped. It would be nice to have four functioning beach chairs for families. Three were provided but one was broken. We did not find the South Seas staff to be rude at all; they were quite accommodating. I would recommend buying your groceries at the Publix before you get to Sanibel. Jerry’s and Bailey’s are quite high, especially meat and produce prices. Coin laundry is on the bottom floor and easy to use. Two dollars a load and you need quarters. There’s also a fun arcade next to Doc Ford’s. Overall, it was a fantastic week.

A relaxing Florida Getaway

We were so lucky to get away to Captiva before Covid hit the planet. Captiva is a wonderful part of Florida away from the usual craziness. The beaches are wonderful. The restaurants are great and the sunsets perfect. And this villa at South Seas Resort is where you want to be. It is spacious, clean and newly renovated. It is on the upper level so the views are the best. Doc Ford's a good restaurant right at South Seas Plantation. Mucky Duck a walk up the beach for dinner or a sunset drink. Bubble Room touristy but fun. Old Captiva House great food. It is at Tween Waters. Right behind it you can rent a Kayak and get a guided tour(recommended) at Adventure Sea Kayaks. And the Mad Hatter, great food. My favorite hikes were at Ding Darling and the Bailey Tract. And the best of course was just endless walks on the beach. Shell collecting is as advertized. Would definitely return and recommend.

The villa unit was spacious and we enjoyed our stay but there were several problems with the unit.

The unit was a nice size and layout but was unhappy with the cleanliness of the floors. Our little grandson’s feet were filthy after only a few hours going barefoot. Additionally, the HD tv had a horrible picture because unit did not have HD cable. Lastly, the water pressure was such that you could not take a shower without high pitched sound.

Great beach side condo!

Our family of 4 visited July 2022. The condo was a great size for our family (13 and 15 year old boys). The grounds were absolutely beautiful, and the beach was a short walk from the condo. July was hot and humid. The patio faces the sunset so although you have great views, you can't really enjoy sitting out there in the afternoons. But we mainly use the patio for coffee in the morning, and it was perfect for that. The beach was clean and absolutely beautiful. The waters were Caribbean blue and calm all week. The condo pool is small, so it was too warm to be refreshing in July. I wish they could cool it off a bit in the summer months. But we were there for the beach, so I can't complain! I have a few tips below for others. These were a few questions I had ahead of time. *Coffee Maker is Keurig, but it is a dual machine, so has a pot for brewing. I hate K-cups and wish I had know I could bring ground coffee. *Blow dryer is supplied in upstairs bathroom. *We were provided with 8 beach towels. No need to bring your own. *There are 4 beach chairs and 2 umbrellas. The umbrellas work great. 1 beach chair needs replaced. We loved the layout of the condo. Our 13 year old claimed the loft. It basically served as a 3rd bedroom for us. I was a little worried about the carpet just because I think carpet can be gross at the beach, but it was clean and in good condition. All in all, we would definitely return, but maybe in the fall or spring when it's a bit cooler and less humid. Our only complaint is that the rental company still uses keys. So you have to pick up and drop off keys. This isn't a huge inconvenience bc the rental company is on the way out of the island. I just was worried about getting locked out at some point. With 2 boys in and out, I was constantly asking if someone had a key. Of course we did get locked out the very last afternoon there and Royal Shell was extremely quick to help us out! So all was ok. It would be nice to just have a key code though ;)

This property was very comfortable and provided all the things we needed for a great week at the beach! It was close to the beach and provided beach chairs for us to use. There were many towels and all the kitchen utensils that we needed! It was great!

Great Vacation!

Condo is wonderful. They have a new table and chairs on the deck, not shown in pictures. They provided 4 beach chairs, 2 umbrellas, and beach towels. Royal Shell manages the check in, check out, and maintenance, and they were perfect! Very easy process. The condo's view cannot be beat! It is located a short distance from Captiva restaurants and shopping. Easy walk! We will definitely consider staying in this unit again!

Highly recommended family get away.

Unit and property were great. Clean, spacious, convenient. Was disappointed in how Sea Side seems to turn their nose down on VRBO guests and made it very clear that we were not to use any of their amenities or the extended property.

Outstanding Sunset View

Check in and Check out process was easy. Walking distance to all restaurants on Captiva. We couldn’t have had a better view! Nice surprise to find cold waters in the fridge when we arrived. Staff at Royal Shell and at The Gate to South Seas we’re super helpful and friendly. We had a very relaxing week. Thank you!

Stunning sunsets

We stay here last year and loved it. The place very nice and clean and right next to the pool. The view of the ocean was wonderful. The only thing we noticed is the pull out couch frame was sagging in the middle. Hopefully the owner fix this before we come back. I have emailed 2 times thru HomeAway to book the unit again for this year but haven't hear back yet.

TV needs to be focused. Screen porch light does not come on. Need to do an inventory of kitchen. Need a channel guide for TV.

We are so glad you booked with us! We just wanted to touch base about the few issues you encountered during your stay. We went to the condo and checked the TVs and they are working just fine. The South Seas association has cable through Comcast and the signal is not always great on that part of the island. We are sorry about the inconvenience but there is little we can do about the signal quality. There is a channel lineup on channel 96. We also checked the light on the porch and it too was working. There is a pull chain for the porch light that needed to be pulled instead of the switch. We will do a full inventory of the kitchen as soon as possible and replace anything that is missing. Also, if you ever have any maintenance issues, or feel like you are missing items from the kitchen, please give us a call and we will do everything we can to make it right! We are so glad you had a nice stay and we hope to see you on the islands soon!
