Watauga River Cabins-Hemlock

Die Hemlock-Hütte ist Teil unserer "rustikalen Lodge". Unsere Lodge befindet sich am Ufer des wunderschönen Watauga River, auf halbem Weg zwischen Johnson City und Elizabethton. Die Lodge wurde so entworfen, dass sie einer Pferdescheune ähnelt. Sie befindet sich auf einem 5 Hektar großen Gelände mit einer Flussfront von über 600 Fuß und besteht aus 3 Hütten.

Die Hemlock-Kabine im Erdgeschoss hat über 900 Quadratmeter Wohnfläche. Die Kabine verfügt über ein Queensize-Bett, 2 Super-Einzelbetten, die in ein Kingsize-Bett umgewandelt werden können, ein Katzensofa, zwei Vollbäder sowie eine voll ausgestattete Küche und einen Wohnbereich. Die Hemlock-Kabine bietet bequem Platz für vier.

Alle Bettwäsche sind inbegriffen - alles was Sie tun müssen, ist etwas zu essen und Ihre persönlichen Sachen mitzubringen - alle anderen Sachen werden für Sie bereitgestellt! Die Küche ist komplett ausgestattet mit Geschirr, Kochgeschirr, Toaster, Kaffeemaschine und Mikrowelle.

Die Kabine verfügt über Heizung / Klimaanlage, Deckenventilator, Flachbild-Sat-TV, DVD / VCR, Gaskamin, zentrale Waschküche und Gasgrill.

Es gibt auch ein voll angeschlossenes Wohnmobil-Pad mit 50-Ampere-Betrieb am Fluss. (Aufpreis) Das Wohnmobil-Grundstück verfügt über eine private Terrasse mit Blick auf den Fluss.

Sehr praktisch für Johnson City und Elizabethton (10 Minuten) sowie Roan Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain und Hawksnest Ski Resorts (45-60 Minuten). Unmittelbar neben der Lodge befindet sich der Watauga River, der etwa 100 Fuß breit ist und einige der besten Forellenfischer im Osten der USA beheimatet. Forellenarten im Watauga River sind Rainbow, Brook und Brown sowie verschiedene Arten von Bässen und verschiedene Nicht-Wildarten. Dieser untere Teil der Watauga wurde als "Quality Trout Zone" ausgewiesen.

We stayed there last year with friends and totally enjoyed our stay. This year was totally different, the unit was dusty including dry flowers. I tried to open windows for some fresh air but there was so much green on the window seals I had to close them. I had to use my inhaler much more then normal. Last but not lease was the spiders along with their webs. Wednesday getting ready when I looked in the mirror to see a black spider hanging right behind my head, not the way to start the day. Then this morning I went into the bathroom and only the night light was on. I went to was my hands and something touch my back. I yanked my top off turn on the light and there was a large brown spider on other web in almost the same place. The spider issue happened in the back bathroom.There were also spider webs in the back shower we had to clean.As I said we stayed there last with friends and we have also stayed in the cabin upstairs , really enjoyed both units. The outside in the back was a bit more messy than last year.Not really sure what has changed to cause this difference, but for the rates you are now charging the upkeep should be better.We did not take any pics of our stay this time.

I am employed for part time contract work at Mountain Home VAMC. The property is magical and positioned directly on a bluff overlooking the Watauga river which iOS loaded with stocked Rainbows, Browns and hybrid Stripers. It’s 10 minutes from the medical center and situated across from a magnificent farm with cornfields, hay fields and grazing pastures for cows. We were able introduce our pups to cows grazing on our morning walks and our hosts two dogs Tucker and Bristol who were perfect pup hosts as well. Gary and Patty are amazing hosts and well deserved of the highest marks for hosts in this rental industry and we have experienced many over the year. We look forward to seeing them in the future.

Totally Loved this place!!!

The Watauga River Cabins is a truly unique gem! The photos don't do it justice... it was larger than expected and the views of the river with fly fishing float boats causing by was spectacular. We were in town to visit my brother and his family for the Nascar race at Bristol, which was a short drive and came back to grill some steaks on the grill and have a campfire on the large back patio area while soaking in the scenery. I also fly fish and we were able o book a float trip with High Country Angler in Gray, TN and caught and released a few dozen trout one morning. We will def be coming back to WRC the next time we plan a visit! Max

Wonderful family holiday stay

The Hemlock cabin was so warm and welcoming, with a Christmas tree and lovely holiday decor. It was very comfortable, with everything we needed. My husband and I were there with our daughter and our dogs, and it was perfect for all of us. The cabin was very clean, with plenty of room for everyone. The outdoor space is amazing, with a large field to walk the dogs and a fire pit right on the river. We loved our stay and will definitely be back!

The river property came into my mother’s family in the 1890’s. My great grandfather built the family homestead. In 1901 (pre-dam) a flood came and damaged the home. With mules and logs they moved the 3,000 square foot, 2 story home across the creek and placed it on higher ground. Before the dam was built in the mid 1940’s, the river would sometimes look like a creek, at other times it would rise and come out its 50 foot banks. In the winter, the river would freeze and my great grandparents would cut squares of ice from the river and bury it in their home for later use. Before the bridge, there was a natural shelf that allowed the horse and buggies to cross the river in front of the cabins.

The ground was farmed until I received it in 2003. My mother was raised on the property, until she married my father in 1947 and moved to Florida. We vacationed here every year, so I have always loved this place. I wanted a place of my own but hated the idea of having it sit empty most of the time. I am in the rental business in Florida so I decided to build something that could be rented when we are not able to be here. At that time, there were no buildings on the property so I was able to start from scratch. I really like the character of horse barns and thought, why not build one that could house people. So, in 2004, we built the cabins and it has been a great adventure! This past winter, we completed our retirement cabin. The cabin has three bedrooms, three baths, and an apartment on the lower level.
