Poet's Cabin - Year-round Acadia A-Frame Getaway
If you're looking for a beautiful cabin in the woods on the Quietside of Mount Desert Island, you've found it! A perfect spot for couples, solo travelers, families of 3 & friends. Cute, cozy & charming, Poet's Cabin is newly renovated w/ Brentwood queen bed, sleep sofa, stainless oven, DW & microwave. Serene porch to relax on. Private yet convenient setting - close to ocean, hikes, downtown Southwest Harbor, 5min from Acadia's Seawall Beach, Bass Harbor Lighthouse, Echo Lake Beach, & more!
Poet's Cabin is a one bedroom, one bath classic "A-Frame" cabin. Hygge-inspired, the interior decor features beautiful pine wood walls and Acadia-inspired art throughout the house. The loft bedroom (full standing height) features a brand new queen-sized Brentwood bed and storage, and the living room features a new queen-sized sleep sofa for multiple sleeping options. The living room also features a live-edge walnut wood breakfast bar with two comfortable seats with a view of the woods, as well as a new Roku TV with excellent, 500 mbps fiber optic wifi internet throughout the house. The cabin has a full kitchen with a full sized refrigerator with freezer, and brand new stainless steel appliances including electric stove/oven, dishwasher, and microwave. There is also a warm and powerful Rinnai heater for making it cozy, or a new mini-split heat pump for A/C or heat. The cabin also has a 3/4 bathroom, including stall shower, sink, and brand new toilet. Finally, the cabin has a large front deck with a cedar gliding loveseat, built-in table with seating, and easy parking for two cars.
Additional Amenities - May through Oct only:
- 2 inflatable stand-up paddleboards w/ electric, portable pump, paddles, lifejackets, & carry bags.
- 2 hybrid road bikes w/ helmets & lock.
- A cast-iron firepit w/ ample firewood provided.
- A gas grill.
Please note, the stairs going up/down to the loft bedroom are very steep and should be used with caution.
The place is completely yours.
Please feel free to message us with any questions. We also live nearby if anything is needed.
As guests, you will have the whole house to yourselves. Southwest Harbor is one of the most beautiful towns in Maine and is located right in the heart of Acadia National Park. Watch beautiful sunrises or sunsets over the ocean, hike world-class trails, visit a sand beach, kayak on a tree-lined lake, eat at a classic Maine lobster shack - there are so many amazing adventures on Mount Desert Island!
Summer only: The house is within walking distance of the Island Explorer bus system's route 7 (Southwest Harbor). The Manset town dock stop in Southwest Harbor is half a mile away and is the closest bus stop. This is an island-wide, free bus system that carries passengers and bikes to various destinations. The bus will stop at any safe location along its route across all of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island.
The house is easy access to the following as well: just over one mile from downtown Southwest Harbor, less than one mile from Cable Crossing Road, less than two miles to Seawall Picnic Area and Beach, three miles to the oceanfront, family friendly hikes of Wonderland and Ship Harbor, and approximately four miles to Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Additionally, the house is a 20 minute drive through the heart of Acadia National Park to downtown Bar Harbor.
There is a locked off storage shed with a separate locked entrance on the left side of the house. This is the only space not for guest usage.
And again, please use caution on the steep staircase going to or from the loft bedroom.
Thank you!
