We’re sorry your stay did not meet your expectations, although we were genuinely surprised by the severity of this review. The property sits directly on the main channel with a private beach and one of the longest private piers on the lake. Unfortunately, the drought this year kept the lake extremely low all season and exposed areas that would normally be underwater. Those areas became overgrown and are impossible to maintain like normal landscaping. We maintain the beach and areas that are normally above water, but we simply cannot control the lake level. The property had been cleaned after the previous guests, but there had been a couple of weeks between stays. At a lakefront property, cobwebs, leaves, insects, and other outdoor debris can accumulate quickly. We’re sorry those areas were not in better condition when you arrived. We also added a number of extra amenities this season that were not even included in the original listing. That included two additional kayaks and one additional paddleboard, so guests were actually receiving more than what was described when they booked. We normally keep the kayaks turned upside down and cleared, and we’re sorry that wasn’t done before your stay. Fortunately, it’s very quick to simply turn the kayak over and empty the water. It’s unfortunate for us that such a minor, easily remedied inconvenience was significant enough to be included in what we feel was an unusually harsh review. We were also disappointed that we never heard from you during your stay. Had you reached out, we would have been happy to help with any of these concerns or provide context about the unusually low lake level. Prior to this review, 100% of our guests this season had left 5/5 ratings during a very busy summer. We mention that only because this review is very different from the feedback we received from every other guest this season. We appreciate the feedback and will address the items that are within our control. We’ll also make sure future guests have clearer context about this year’s drought and unusually low lake levels so those conditions are not mistaken for a lack of property maintenance.
