The place was very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The host was very communicative and helpful. The noise from the upstairs was very loud and we woke at 2a, 4a and 6a. That was a bummer. Everything else was great!

Hawaii visit

The apartment is close to Kona downtown. Plenty of room with 2 bedrooms. Patio areas upstairs on the deck to watch the sun set and downstairs at the table was pleasant. Main complaint was the kitchen could have been better equipped. Pots and pans, coffee pot, toaster etc. was nice but lack of kitchen towels and only one sharp knife needs to be addressed. The rental car was so nice and convenient. .

The location of the house is very good, just a few minutes from the Ironman World Championship start line in Kona, which was really convenient. However, overall our experience was a bit disappointing.The person who attended us was rather unfriendly. For example, when we asked if the tap water was drinkable, we were told to “look it up on Google” instead of simply answering the question. We were also asked not to use the air conditioning too much, but it didn’t cool properly, so we actually had to keep it running for hours just to get the room a bit cooler. On top of that, the beds are quite small and not very comfortable, especially for taller people.The house itself is fine and the location is good, but the attitude of the host and the maintenance of some amenities really took away from the overall experience.

Regarding the tap water — since we aren’t qualified to make health recommendations, we suggest checking official sources for the most accurate information. We want to clarify that our request was to turn it off when you "leave" the home, not to restrict your use while you're there, to conserve energy and maintain system performance. The room you stayed in is furnished with two standard queen-size beds, but we understand comfort can vary from person to person and appreciate your input.

A bit run down…No A/C…not enough seating for a family of four.

The kitchen was not well equipped for any cooking unless your microwaving or you wanted to use an air fryer. Old and worn utensils and only 3 forks. Ols worn out cookware. Not a very inviting kitchen, hence the broken cabinet above the stove with the door just laying on top. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy…

We are taking your review seriously. We have re-checked the kitchen amenities and supplied new items for future guests. MaiLan Hale is a Hawaiian Vacation Host Homes where the vacationers can stay in an authentic Hawaiian neighborhood and enjoy a true Hawaiian experience. If you are looking for a resort style, this place is not the right place for you.

Restless

Clean, however, no AC, the house was so hot day and night, we slept without blankets, so hot even with fans on top speed with doors open. No toilet papers, had to go buy our own. From the first night for four nights were a nightmare, people leaving upstairs comes home at midnight and it sounds like construction work going on up stairs, at times it sounds like they were running on a treadmill, this goes on till 2 am. Vibration noise from their AC unit rattle the bed room so I spend the night in the living room. I could not wait to return home.

Aloha Tumama, I am sorry to hear your issue while stayed at our Hale. The apartment currently does not have AC. We have a schedule to install the Split AC at the end of March 2023. Hopefully, that will help to cool the summer down. - Staying at our Hale, guests will have free amenities. If the initial supply does not enough for your trip, please feel free to reach out to us anytime. - I apologies for the noise from the other guests. Please do not hesitate to inform us. Therefore, we can talk to the others about the quiet hours.
