Welcome to 818 East Arctic! This charming 2 bedroom/1.5 bath Folly Beach single family home comfortably sleeps 5 guests and has a splendid ocean view. Located directly across the street from the beach, it's the perfect vacation spot for both family and friends alike.

After a day at the beach, rinse off under the outdoor shower and relax in the hammocks or porch swing while taking in the cool ocean breeze. Try some local seafood and cook up the daily catch using the grill grill. The half bath is located under the house with the washer and dryer for easy outdoor access.

The bedrooms, kitchen, full-size bathroom, and living room are all on the main level of the house. The first bedroom has a Queen bed, whereas the second bedroom has a bunk bed with a Full sized mattress on the bottom and a Twin sized mattress on the top. The kitchen is fully stocked with modern appliances to prepare the family meals.

Amenities include keyless entry, contactless check-in, central heat and air, outdoor shower, sun deck, covered patio area under the house, grill, washer & dryer, YouTube TV, free WIFI internet, and more! Pet friendly with an additional fee of $125 plus tax. 1 dog allowed. *Note there is no dishwasher. 24-hour emergency on-call staff is always available. No events allowed that exceed the maximum occupancy of the home. Must be 25 years old or older to rent, no exceptions. We hope to see you on the beach soon!

**HOUSE SUPPLIES**
This property is managed by a property management group. We provide a complimentary starter amenity kit to get you settled. Guests are responsible for replenishing supplies as needed during their stay.
Two rolls of paper towels, 1 sponge, 1 dishwashing liquid, 3 trash bags, 3 dishwasher tabs, and 2 kitchen towels in the kitchen. Each bathroom will have 2 toilet paper rolls and at least 1 bar of soap. Full bathrooms additionally include kits with travel size products: 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 lotion bottle, and 2 makeup wipes.

Great location!

Great location and a cute little house. There was no gas grill as stated, and we had to clean, sweep and wipe down the house before we were comfortable bringing our things in. It is tough to keep a beach house clean, so that is understandable.

Great location! Beautiful house!

This property was perfect for my family to get away to the beach! The two bedrooms worked perfectly for our family of four (two adults plus two children). The convenience of the outdoor shower and laundry room were a big perk!

We enjoyed a few days here at Folly beach. The house is a typical, relaxed beach house 1 minute walk from lovely Folly Beach. It was a 15-20 minute walk to the area with shops and restaurants. Great for a small group stay.

Great Location and Cute Beach House

We really enjoyed our stay at this cute beach house located directly across from the beach in a quiet neighborhood. Very clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again. The only issue was there weren’t enough beach chairs and no beach towels.

The location was great and the property itself was good but it clearly was run down and needed some cleaning up. It was perfect for my family of five and had a great spot for easy access to the beach. The property management was very nice and super responsive!

Lovely week at Folly

It’s a quaint beach cottage with lovely decor and excellent location , making it a great value for the price. Very easy beach access in a quiet part of the island. Comfortable master bed/mattress. Good seating for the size. Nice outdoor space. We would have appreciated beach gear, such as chairs, but the property manager does provide rental information. We would absolutely stay here again.

Disappointed

My biggest disappointment was the listing didn’t mentioned that the half bath was not part of the living quarters. The half bath is underneath the home. Also, it was a challenge to get the temperature comfortable.

Great Little Getaway

The location of this property was perfect for accessing the beach and provided ample parking. Having a hose and outdoor shower area was great. I would recommend having a rubber mat (with holes) in the outdoor shower area instead of standing on the wooden deck boards. The kitchen area was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes and utensils. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. The bathroom was fine and ample bath towels were provided. The washer/dryer and second bathroom are easily accessed on the lower level outside of the home. The television could be updated to a larger size and the two chairs in the living were not very comfortable. The outdoor gas grill was a little dated but worked fine. The lower swinging chairs, underneath the deck, were great for relaxing and the outer upstairs deck was great for sitting and listening to the ocean waves while enjoying an evening beverage. All in all it was a good beach house, located just far enough outside of the main strip, to provide a nice and enjoyable stay at a decent cost. Great little getaway.

Close to beach

Pros- This was a cute little cottage near public beach access. We enjoyed the privacy and parking space. The area under the deck had some lovely shade and nice swings to relax in. There was a full sized washer and dryer below the unit and a hose to rinse off sand. Cons- The air stopped working the last 2 days into our visit. It was very hot. The first night we thought maybe it was a fluke- we had been with family all day and it had been very hot outside so we went to bed, not thinking much of it. The next day it seemed the same and only got worse. We contacted the manager of the property and she was very quick to reply and relocated us the last evening into a condo closer to the restaurants- so it was actually a free upgrade. Prior to the last two nights, the air was SUPER COLD and comfortable. Prior to the air situation, my only complaint is that the area on the rugs were not swept well and there was no shade on the balcony to keep you cool.

Best aspect of this rental is the location. Across the street and one house over is the beach access. When we walked in the house, the first thing we noticed were that two couch slipcovers were FILTHY. Overall dirty with dirt spots and stains. Some were yellow large round stains. After contacting mgmt company, they insisted that the covers had been recently and professionally cleaned. There is no way that can be true. They also stated that the slipcovers are professionally cleaned twice a year. Gross! They offered to bring over blankets for us to cover the couches with but we declined and did our own covering with sheets. New slipcovers were supposedly then ordered, but that did not help us. Overall, it’s a decent house, but could use a deep clean i.e layer of dust on ceiling fans, dirty bathroom floor that is well past its life. We also encountered three palmetto bugs during our stay. Entry point for bugs may be the rusted hole at the bottom of the front door. We had a nice visit to Folly, as usual, but house was a bit underwhelming. Oh, and closet in main bedroom is not available, so there is essentially no place to hang clothes except for a few wire hooks over the door.

We want to assure you that the slipcovers were indeed recently professionally cleaned as part of our regular maintenance schedule. Unfortunately, despite professional efforts, some persistent stains did not fully come out, which is why we ordered new replacement slipcovers. We also offered to send over blankets for covering the couches at the time, and regret that our solution was not helpful. Regarding the overall cleanliness, the house is professionally cleaned between guests, but we will look into having another deep clean performed. The property is also routinely treated for pest prevention. We are sorry to hear you encountered a few palmetto bugs during your visit. They are quite common in this coastal environment, especially after significant rainfall, and can sometimes find their way inside despite preventative measures. We will certainly investigate the bottom of the front door to address any potential entry points. This particular property is beloved by many repeat guests for its charming, low-maintenance beach cottage vibe, which might not be to everyone's taste. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future!

Folly beach While I am very hesitant to leave a bad review, I cannot in good conscience leave a favorable review. For starters, when we drove up to the property it is very clear that it needs a good pressure wash and paint job. The only staircase that leads to the inside of the house is very precarious at best. The steps end at the grass, but to the side is a landing to get to the half bath and porch area that is not level with the steps. My sister actually fell at that point of the staircase and broke her wrist. Also, the property description boasts of a fabulous ocean view. Although the beach access is close and convenient, we could only see a tiny slice of the ocean to the left and across the street from the deck, so to label it a fabulous ocean view is a gross overstatement. As for the inside, it is decorated nicely but is in much need of a good wall scrubbing and paint job. Also, the rugs in the kitchen and den were very worn and dirty. The lights over the stove and one at the front door did not work. Lastly, we completely disagree that 5 people can sleep comfortably there. That may be true if you have two adults and three small children, but even then there’s no place to put luggage etc. One of the beds is a bunk bed in which a child could easily navigate the top bunk stairs, but that is not necessarily the case for an adult. For all these reasons above I cannot leave more than a 2 star rating.

Thank you for letting us know about the issues you had during your stay. First and foremost, we are sorry to hear a member of your party was injured at the property and we hope they are doing better. We did inform our property manager about the landing so that he can go by to identify any potential safety issues. Currently the staircase does meet code requirements but we are looking into putting some sort of stair tape to help our guests identify the small step down. Additionally we have scheduled to have the siding of the home cleaned professionally. We do our best to honestly portray our properties online through verbal descriptions and updated photos so that we are able to meet guests expectations of the homes, including sleeping arrangements. We are sorry to hear your party felt cramped, but the property and bedding offered are as photographed in our listing. We do also have other improvements planned for the home this offseason to include new rugs and paint inside. This property isn't for everyone, but we have a lot of happy repeat guests. Perfect location!

House is just one house over from beach access. We had a thunderstorm come through and it was perfect to relax on the hammock and bench while we waited for it to pass! If I ever find myself back in SC, I would rent again!

Lovely and great location!

This was perfect for our little family. We were a sweet 1 mile walk from Bert's and great restaurants but in a quiet spot away from the more crowded areas. We'd definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed but want to share one issue

We really like the house and all it's amenities. We would definitely want to stay again. The only issue we had was finding mice dropping in the pots and pans and a dead roach in the cabinet in the kitchen. We are only sharing this so you are aware of what the cleaning crew left behind.

Thank you so much for the feedback! The property received regulars pest control treatment. We would have been happy to address this issue while you were here. Although rare, Palmetto bugs can sometimes make their way inside houses along the southeastern coast. They may be unsightly, but they are completely harmless. Their droppings can sometimes be mistaken for mouse droppings. A licensed pest control technician has sprayed inside the house and found no evidence of mice or any other Palmetto bugs. We ask our guests to please notify us if they have any concerns during their stay so that we can resolve any issues as promptly as possible. Thank you for staying with us.
