Welcome to the Race Track. Step into the past and enjoy this beach home managed by Rent On Padre. It will remind you of coming to the beach when you were a kid This is one of the older homes on the island. But don't let that scare you, you have an amazing view, reserved for just you. You also have your own private beach access right from the steps of your home. You can sit on your porch and watch the waves all day and all night. This house is one of the original homes on the island. It is 4 bedrooms with 3 1/2 baths. It will sleep up to 18 people. Each bedroom has 2 full size beds and there is a futon on the lower level for 2 more people.

The downstairs area has two bedrooms and a sitting area along with the 1 1/2 bathrooms. From this floor you can walk out directly to your beach access. Imagine not sharing a beach access with anyone but the people in your group. There is also a garage with a washer and dryer. As well as a collection of beach toys.

Upstairs you will find the great room with the dining room, kitchen, and living room. This house is very comfortable for a large group. You also have an amazing deck with fabulous views. You will spend a lot of time on the deck counting the waves. You also have another two bedrooms each with their own bathroom.

For the price and location this place is great. There was plenty of space for our family of 18. The place is older but the upstairs is nice. Down stairs could use a little tlc. I would definitely recommend.

This property was what it said it was, Beach Chic. Our family loved the view from the balcony as well as the short walk to the beach. Plenty of room for the family and many great memories were made.

The bottom level smell makes the rooms down there unusable. Honestly they should just rent out the top so people are not tricked into bringing their family there. It smells like you are inhaling gas fumes the entire time downstairs. I wish I would have read the reviews first. But it does have a beautiful view and close access to the beach

NASTY AND OLD WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

The pictures must be old pictures when the place was nice, there was roaches and mouse droppings. The smell, oh god the SMELL….thankfully the management was actually 10/10, didn’t place blame or accuse just refunded very fast and professionally. Would recommend maybe using the rentonpadre management company to get something. Other than that DO NOT RENT HERE IT WAS VERY UNCLEAN AND RUNDOWN.

This place upon review looked ok. But were taken back by the stench of the downstairs portion of this property. It was disgusting. The Black Mold was so bad it hurt just to breath. The entry way to the bottom floor was giving out so it sank beneath our weight. The entire property was covered in small roaches. We had to spray down showers to clear them out and wipe down countertops. However, it was in a great location, but it honestly needs to be condemned. We would have left that night, but it was very late to get another room. The property manager was gracious enough to return our money for this issue. I hope to God that they do not rent this out again. Because Black Mold is dangerous to humans and it would probably be illegal if the rented it to someone knowing that it could be fatal to someone.

Very old condo

Water didn’t work on arrival. Washer and dryer were not available because of damage to garage door. Roof had damage and rain water started to leak in the home during rain.

Great View

We had a great time. It is a quirky older house as described in the online listing. Everything worked dishwasher, washer drier ect. The lower level was a bit musty smelling. We only used the upper level bedrooms because I was not comfortable having either of my youngish children sleeping so separated from us. You have to go outside to get to the lower bedrooms and the washer/ dryer. We were fine only using the 2 upstairs bedrooms but it could be an issue for other familys. We have a small RV that we drove to South Padre. The driveway is very very long and would have been fine for even a much longer RV or several cars.

The location is great which I know is what we paid for, but the house is not great. Could not get from downstairs to upstairs without going outside which made us change sleeping arrangements and the downstairs group feel excluded. Couch was dirty and just slick on edges, only one TV upstairs. I know it said older, but was overpriced. Needs to at least put TV downstairs.

Beach front home

I knew going in this was an older beach home and didn’t expect it to be updated or posh so seeing the upstairs was not a shock, the living room/kitchen/and dining room were big and comfortable enough to fit all 8 of us and was clean. The bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and comfortable enough. Unfortunately the entire downstairs (2 rooms and bathroom were completely unusable. There is a strong oil smell that was overwhelming even when we tried to air it out and there is visible mold on the AC vent and on the walls. We were unable to use any of those rooms and had to all 8 of us fit into the 2 rooms upstairs , which was super inconvenient and awkward. We could not reach the rental property to address this saturday morning and had to reach out to VRBO and it was only resolved (partial refund) after our trip. The upstairs, deck views of-the beach and access to the beach Are great but i would not expect to be able to use the downstairs at all unless u get confirmation they have resolved the issues.

Reviewer Comments: Before we made our choice we read a review that said it was like going home to grandma's. So we thought that was fine. We weren't looking for luxury, but this place was awful! Our first morning a mouse ran across the living room. The kitchen cabinets had dead roaches and mice droppings. The downstairs rooms weren't even connected inside the house,you could only get to them from the outside! The whole place smelled really strongly from pesticide. Panelling in the living room was falling apart under the window and is probably where the mice and bugs were coming in. Outside, there were various wires and cables just laying around. I actually tripped over them the 2nd day there scraping my knee quite badly. All in all very disappointing and will ever rent from your company again. We have photos of everything, just to prove our disappointment.

I am so sorry. We do tell people this is an old beach house from the 70's. It is not fancy and we don't pretend it is. Thanks for letting us know about the other things. I let the exterminator know.

Perfect location

This house is exactly as they say, an older house that is kept up and taken care of. It is RIGHT ON THE BEACH though the access has some brambles so walk carefully with flip-flops. There was nothing we really lacked having there and it was comfortable. Could it use updating? Sure, but we were told what to expect by the managers prior to booking so no surprises were had. I would absolutely rent again for a relaxing trip with the kids.

Horrible experience

We stayed here for 2 reasons. The walkable direct access to the beach and a home we could all be in directly together. Horrible experience. Would never stay there again especially for the price during off season. The bottom section shouldn't even be available to rent. No clear walkway to the beach from the back deck. Stairs were blocked off due to high plants. Grass was so high you couldn't walk to beach. Stickers all along path to access beach. Old rusted chairs , two broke after my elderly mother and cousin sat on it. Such a hazardous and dangerous situation. Gladly nobody was hurt. Downstairs was disgusting. Whole section reaked of mold. AC vent was only in hall way , no circulation or vents in either rooms. Room closest to back porch was so hot. Thankfully it was a breezy and cool weekend. Portable fans were in room but didn't work only one that was small. Restroom was gross. Black gunk on baseboards. Shower rods rusted. Black markings all along shower. Bed in one of the rooms was lopsided. The top and bottom sections are separated, not together. You have to walk outside and up the stairs to gain access to upstairs section. Had I known this we would've just stayed in 2/3 separate condos or hotel rooms. Top section was nice , could've used a few touch ups but was the best section of the whole place. If it hadn't been for the top section being nice we probably would've left. Fridge didn't get cold at all. They did have pots pans and silverware for us to cook with. TV upstairs worked. Not sure about downstairs, couldn't get it too work. Washer nor dryer worked properly. We had to ring out clothes because they were soaked. Had to dry clothes about 3 times. Unannounced maintenance man came in during our stay to changed our AC filters The vents and filters were so filthy , after he changed it looked like it had been there for months. Not sure exactly what caused this but after leaving and returning home , multiple family members found bites on them possibly from bed bugs , either from upstairs couch or beds. Horrible experience if it hadn't been for the top section and it taking us 6 hours driving to get there would've just left.
