Flittermouse Cottage

Flittermouse Cottage is a quaint early-19th-century bath-stone cottage tucked away at the end of a peaceful no-through lane in the village of Wingfield. Sleeping four guests and one infant, it’s an ideal retreat for couples, friends, or small families seeking a base from which to explore Bath, Bradford on Avon, Longleat, and the surrounding countryside. One well-behaved dog is welcome (please ask before bringing two).



Built by the Love family for their estate workers, Flittermouse Cottage forms part of a charming Grade II listed row of five unique cottages. Inside, the cottage is full of character and thoughtful details, offering two comfortable bedrooms: one with a king-size bed and the other with a king that can be converted into twins. The inviting lounge features a log burner, with logs and kindling provided for your first fire, alongside a Smart TV, DVD player, dining table, and board games. A travel cot and highchair are available on request.



The modern kitchen is well equipped for relaxed stays, with a dishwasher, washing machine, induction hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, coffee bean grinder, and toaster. Downstairs, the bathroom includes a generous shower and a small bathtub, with Bramley toiletries supplied. As you’d expect in a cottage of this age, the stairs are steep and one doorway has a low clearance, adding to its historic charm.



Outside, the cottage has pretty front and rear cottage gardens, furnished with seating, a dining table, and a charcoal barbecue. While there’s no lawn, a lovely walking path is just a minute away, perfect for dogs and morning or evening strolls. There is parking available for 2 vehicles.



Wingfield is a peaceful village surrounded by beautiful Wiltshire countryside, with the popular, dog-friendly pub The Poplars within easy walking distance. The historic town of Bradford on Avon is just a short drive away, offering excellent shops, cafés, and riverside walks, while Bath’s cultural attractions and shopping are easily reached by car or train. With Longleat Safari Park nearby and plenty of scenic walks on the doorstep, Flittermouse Cottage offers the perfect blend of rural calm and easy access to some of the region’s most memorable destinations.
