The church was built of red brick and in a Gothic Revival style in 1869, although the tower was built in the early 18th century. The village of Sykehouse is home to the Sykehouse Arena Equestrian Centre and lends its name to the Sykehouse Russet apple, thought to be lost, but rediscovered growing in the Doncaster area in 1999.
