Town: The friendly little community of Northwood is found on the southern boundary of Cowes, at the northern end of the Isle of Wight. The centre of the quaint town of Cowes, probably best known for its sailing heritage, is just 2 miles away. Home of the Royal Yacht Squadron and host to the world famous 'Cowes Week' each summer, Cowes offers visitors a good selection of shops and restaurants, and from there you can also take one of the regular scenic boat trips on offer, or head across the floating bridge to East Cowes, where a visit to Queen Victoria's splendid summer villa at Osborne House is a must. Alternatively, take a walk along the coastal path to the beach at nearby Gurnard or Thorness Bay.
