Wheddon Cross is often called the 'crossroads of Exmoor' -- a friendly village at the junction of the B3224 and B3358, right in the heart of the National Park.
Standing at around 300 metres above sea level, Wheddon Cross is the highest village on Exmoor. Wheddon Cross also has a well-stocked village shop with post office services, a petrol station with ATM, free public toilets, a children's play park, and an active village hall hosting regular community events.

Magical Christmas holiday in Exmoor
We stayed at Barn Owl Cottage for 10 nights over Christmas and new year 2024. The cottage is in a beautiful setting, very comfortable, and very well equipped with everything you need.Set in the beautiful Exmoor countryside, there’s great walks on your doorstep, or a short drive to tourist attractions like Dunster or to the Somerset coastArriving a couple of days before Christmas we were very pleasantly surprised to find the cottage had been decorated with a tree, lights, etc, which was a very nice touch. On check out day our car wouldn’t start so the owners kindly came to give us a jump start. Overall, a really great Christmas on Exmoor and we’d definitely stay again in future.
