Verblijven bij Tony & Pat is leven als een god in Frankrijk

Onze vakantie bij Les Pâtis was heerlijk! Het grote zwembad voor de deur, onze bbq, de tennisbaan (die wij gebruikte als sportveld), de jacuzzi om even terug te trekken of juist om rustig bij te praten met een borrel, de torenhoge bomen voor prettige schaduw tijdens hete dagen en het geweldige, grote huis Les Rosas. En ja, het is een oud huis, met alle charmes van dien, dus het vertoonde af en toe een klein mankementje, maar de vriendelijke en accurate manier waarop en de snelheid waarmee Tony die verhielp, zorgde ervoor dat die nooit een probleem vormden. Wij zouden er met alle plezier nog eens terug keren. Het was er zo fijn rustig, met volop vermaak van steden (Caen, Honfleur, Omaha Beach) of buitenactiviteiten (kano, klimpark) binnen een uur rijden. Ja, een stukje hemel op aarde!

Beautiful location, not for a group of friends

Les Patis is a beautiful location with a nice swimming pool and a well-maintained terrain. The supermarkets are really close (max 5 minute drive to the Carrefour). However, when booking the accommodation we had other expectations. The text says the house is ideal for families and for a group of friends. There are several accommodations at the terrain. And in the movie you can see the different accommodations. We expected to have neighbors at the sides. But, we did not expect to have neighbors below us. Les Frenes is below the living room, which makes the accommodation very noisy. Our neighbor also didn't know other people were staying above him. He came to us to tell us that he heard doors slamming (which aren't there downstairs). He didn't hear us talking. We talked to him about it and we have taken this into account throughout the holiday (with not moving the chairs and walking in socks). This was not what we expected when going on a holiday. The next morning Tony was standing in our living room, shouting my name to talk to me. I believe this was truly invading our privacy. He could also have waited to talk to us when we were up. So please, be aware of this when booking this accommodation. You will have neighbors below and it will be very noisy. This hasn't been mentioned clearly. Thursday night we were sitting with 4 people in the bedroom upstairs, because we didn't want to cause any noise. Suddenly the bed collapsed and we didn't knew what to do. We talked to Tony about this in the late afternoon. We allowed him to check the bed without our presence, because we went out to have dinner. I told him which room it was, and left the door open. When we came back we saw that Tony went into every room. Also we noticed some bedding was missing. Some people where sleeping under this bedding. We found this really strange and inappropriate. I have received a weird text from Tony. I know it was our fault that the bed broke and we could have told it sooner, but it was not our intention. However, Tony talked to us like it was our intention and that we wouldn't be allowed back on site if we didn't agree to some terms. We found this a really weird way of communication and also wanted to leave in the morning as soon as possible. Also, the house is not well-provided. There is little cutlery, bowls and pans. It would be nice to have more for other guests. The place needs to be quiet at 22:00. Sitting outside and talking is almost impossible at that time.

Dear Shenna, we are always disappointed when guests say they did not enjoy there stay, however I think in this instance it is far to say that you group was the cause a a few of our other guest not enjoying their stay as much as they should have. I understand that our accommodation does advertise for families and groups but maybe we should revise this to well behaved groups. From the moment your group arrive you turned the pool area into a pool party that you would expect on some party islands, with glasses and beer bottles around the pool shouting and loud games, the party continued till the very early hours of the morning. The next day I sent you a message to come and see me, when by midday you had not appeared, I went to your accommodation and asked for you, you where still in bed. As you rightly said les Patis is a beautiful location, but is not suitable for 25 to 30 people who want to party and treat the place like student accommodation. I suppose I should have asked you to leave after the first night, or even after your group was singing folk songs very loudly and dancing in the gite early hours of the morning, but instead we tried to find a middle ground with you. What really disappointed me however was the fact that at 7pm on your last night, as you where leaving to go out for dinner, I asked if there was any damage you told me that the bed was damaged, and when I asked to inspect you asked if I could leave it till after you had gone out. On inspection it was totally destroyed with the metal frame bent and twisted and the wood surround broken and split. We regard to your statement that “the house is not well-provided”. The house has double the amount of all equipment needed for the 8 guests it accommodates, the problem was, you had more guests staying than the house caters for. Overall I think your group broke all the house rules. We do not wish you to return, or any other similar groups.

Mice

Unfortunately Tony and Pat did not clean the house properly after a long period of vacancy. We saw mouse droppings on the ceiling beams, on the floors, around the bed where our four year old son was sleeping, in the kitchen, .... Mice can transmit (airborne) diseases, and holiday homes in wooded regions with a lot of mice that have not been cleaned well after a long period of vacancy are at risk (check for hantavirus on the internet). After an incident with a rodent in the house, which left a mess with a lot of droppings, we pointed the mouse droppings out to Tony and Pat as well. They said that we could not expect them to clean everywhere, and suggested that we were just not used to mice because we were city people (which is not true). We decided to go home after a few days and asked half of our money back. Instead they offered us another cottage, but since they could not guarantee us that there weren't mice as well and considering the way that we were treated (we were yelled at) we decided not to take the risk. Back home the conversation just stopped and we got a message from VRBO that they reviewed us as customers.

Dear Laura We are very disappointed you did no have a good holiday and felt you needed end your vacation early. I take this opportunity however to clarify a few of your statements. Upon arrival I showed your cottage and the surrounding grounds and despite the terrible weather you said your where very happy. I checked on you that night and the following days and you where equally very happy and informed us there was no problems. After being in your cottage 3 days you reported to me that something had eaten your fruit and had left a mess. I ask if I could inspect but you said you had already cleaned it up. I apologised suggested that a mouse my be responsible, I asked if I could instal a mouse trap. I could see you where very upset and your husband said you where very emotional due to her pregnancy, at this point I offered to move you to another property, but you agreed for me to fit some traps and you would see how it goes overnight. The next day I ask to see the traps, you told me they had been undisturbed but you where still not happy to stay in the cottage. My wife took you to see the other property and you said it was beautiful however you would go back to your own cottage. Next day you informed us you would be leaving. The weather still was not good. With regards to the cleaning, our properties are always cleaned to a very high standard, however before you left you husband did point out to my wife, what he thought was mouse droppings in one of the rooms, my wife confirmed with your husband they where food crumbs left by you. There has been no issues since you left, and would suggest a mouse may have entered and run back out. We emphasise that we treat all our guest with the upmost courtesy, and at no time where voices raised. As a sign of good will we have offered you a discounted holiday if you wish to return. We are truly sorry that you decided to leave, but I don’t think we could have done anything else. We hope all goes well for you with the imminent arrival of you now baby. Kind regards Tony and Pat.

Très bel endroit.

La propriété est magnifique, le gîte aussi quoiqu' insuffisamment équipé, notamment la cuisine. Les propriétaires ne parlent pas francais et la communication n'a pas toujours été évidente. Un seul vrai bémol me concernant, ils sont très présents. On est plus dans un esprit chambre d'hôtes que gîtes et ce fut un problème pour moi qui souhaitait inviter des amis à dîner ou déjeuner.

Dear Chema, We are sorry your experience of Les Patis was not good as we would hoped. But in response to your review, you booked a cottage for yourself and 3 children, when you arrived with your sister and an extra. 3 children, we thought you where out of order then. The next day we found a further 4 people had joined your party and where using the communal swimming pool, when challenged you could not understand why this was not allowed, and could not understand why you guests could not continue to use our facilities while staying somewhere else. We have tried to keep the numbers down because of covid virus to keep people safe, but you totally disregarded peoples safety. With regards to to the kitchen equipment there was sufficient for the amout of people you booked for, because all dishes and cutlery have to go on a hot clean in the dishwasher for the next guest, we removed any excessive cutlery. Communication was good as you speak very good English and we are sorry we dont speak perfect french but we speak a little and we try. Covid 19 is a very worrying virus and as responsible owners we have to make sure everyone is safe. we have 5 Gites and at an expense to our self’s have kept one gite closed every week to keep on site visitors down. It was clear you ignored our protocol and put other people at risk. Cher Chema, Nous sommes désolés que votre expérience aux Patis n'ait pas été bonne comme nous l'espérions. Le lendemain, nous avons constaté que 4 autres personnes avaient rejoint votre groupe et utilisaient la piscine commune, lorsque vous avez été mis au défi, vous ne pouviez pas comprendre pourquoi cela n'était pas autorisé et ne pouviez pas comprendre pourquoi vos invités ne pouvaient pas continuer à utiliser nos installations tout en restant quelque part. autre. Nous avons essayé de réduire les chiffres à cause du virus covid pour assurer la sécurité des gens, mais vous avez totalement ignoré la sécurité des gens. En ce qui concerne l'équipement de cuisine, il y en avait suffisamment pour le nombre de personnes pour lesquelles vous avez réservé, car toute la vaisselle et les couverts doivent être nettoyés à chaud au lave-vaisselle pour le prochain invité, nous avons enlevé les couverts en excès. La communication était bonne car vous parlez très bien anglais et nous sommes désolés de ne pas parler parfaitement français mais nous parlons un peu et nous essayons. Covid 19 est un virus très inquiétant et en tant que propriétaires responsables, nous devons nous assurer que tout le monde est en sécurité. nous avons 5 gîtes et à nos frais, nous avons gardé un gîte fermé chaque semaine pour garder les visiteurs sur place. Il était clair que vous ignoriez notre protocole et que vous mettiez d'autres personnes en danger.

Un peu vieillissant

pas de sèche linge contrairement à ce qu'il y a écrit dans l'annonce mais une corde à linge. Les lave linge sont partagés entre toutes les maisons (ça aurait été bien de le préciser) linge de toilette non compris contrairement à ce qui est écrit dans l'annonce ! on a du payer en plus. Maison pour 8 : 8 bols, 8 tasses, 8 fourchettes..... c'est un peu juste pour 3 repas par jour.

Lovely!

Great location, excellent facilities and fantastic hosts. We were welcomed as we arrived and helped to unload. Once we settled in there were frequent (but not imposing) checks to make sure we were ok. It was clear that if it wasn’t then everything would be done to resolve things. The property was clean and well maintained. We had great weather and made good use of the pool and outdoor area. While access to British TV was a boon for my elderly mother helping her holiday be restful. The area is peaceful if you want to unwind, while there’s plenty to do if you’re more adventurous. Would recommend to groups of all ages.

Family stay

We stayed at Guerquesalles for a week at the end of June and we had a fantastic time. The appartment was spacious and had a well equipped kitchen. The garden (or park) was well taken care of. Tony and Pat were very welcoming hosts and we could always come to them if we had a question. I highly recommand this place.

Lovely relaxing weekend in Normandy

Looked at a range of properties. Found Les Roses and it was great. Really was a fabulous find. Although it was at the start of the season and weather was a bit hit and miss, our two kids LOVED the pool and hot tub. Beautiful grounds, lovely walk down the field to a beautiful little stream where there's a picnic table to have lunch or dinner or breakfast- whatever you fancy! We played a bit of tennis (surface is interesting...) And our daughter practiced netball with the basketball hoop available on site too. Very closer to Livarot and Camambert, as well as Lisieux and other interesting sites to explore. Not to far for a day trip to the coast and beaches. Dishwasher door didn't want to close initial, but Tony and Pat responded straight away and Tony had it fixed in minutes. The grounds are very well maintained. My son tried his hand at fishing . And his dad at rowing the boat on the little lake. A few other properties on site and definitely thinking of returning with a few friends or a family reunion. Thanks Pat and Tony. We had a great time!

Fantastic location Gites had everything you could need a real home away from home. Just perfect !

Owners Tony and Pat are so helpful. The grounds are just so peaceful and well maintained in the heart of the countryside but five minutes from town which has everything you need on the doorstep, lovely restaurants, small and large supermarkets to choose from and lots of places to visit. Fabulous stay we will definitely be returning. ( The pool and the fishing on site made this perfect for all in our party.)

Awesome, amazing, gorgeous.

One of the loveliest places we have ever stayed in, the location is beautiful and the gite we stayed in was home from home. The outside facilities where outstanding, my daughter loved the tennis court and now has withdrawal symptoms and my husband fished the lake every day. Tony and Pat where lovely hosts, extremely friendly and approachable and where always at hand with advice for things to do and places to visit. Could not recommend this enough.

Lovely accommodation in an attractive location

Les Roses is a lovingly converted dwelling which comfortable accommodated our family of seven. It is well equipped with a rustic feel to decor. However, the DVD control was missing & the portable radio CD player was not working. The pool, hot tub and sporting facilities were ideal and it never felt overcrowded despite sharing them with three other families (note a forth property conversion is planned for 2018). Our only observation was that the pool area required better lighting for evening entertainment. The lake is well stocked, but ensure you take your own equipment. The location is relaxing whilst offering a number of local attractions to visit in the Normandy region. The local village is a pleasant walk/cycle ride away. The owners, Tony & Pat, were friendly and helpful with any queries that arose during our stay. Overall, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and happily recommend it to others.

We are pleased you had an enjoyable stay, the DVD and CD player are not part of our standard equipment, and where only in the property as the previous occupier asked if we could supply one, ( we should have removed them before your stay)., sorry you found the lack of remote a problem. We are very excited with regards to our new Gate planned for 2018, it will offer our future clients an excellent facilities in a detached stone 3 bedroom cottage beside the Lake, yet only a short stole from the very large heated swimming pool, tennis courts. We take note of you other observations, the external lighting around the pool is on a manual switch, as the hot tub and pool are closed before it go dark this time of year, we did not think it necessary to put them on, we will endeavour to change this to some form of automatic lighting asap. We are clear with regards to equipment and ask all guest to bring there own fishing rods, tennis rackets, table tennis bats and the like, there is some equipment for free use, but generally this is equipment left by other guests. Beautiful

We really enjoyed our stay at Les Roses. It's a well equipped and very charming old building, located in a green oasis of piece and quiet. The living space is large and comfortable. The huge domain is a perfect place to let your kids run around, that is if you can get the out of the well maintained pool and spa. Before the holiday I was a little nervous about having other tenants in the same building, but it was not a problem at all. We never heard any noise inside and every unit has its own private outdoor area. With only 4 units on the domain, it just never gets too busy around the pool either. Les Roses is for 10 people, but make sure to do the maths beforehand - it has only 3 bedrooms which sleeps 3, 3, and 2. I'd say it's perfect for 2 couples with 3-4 kids. It only fits 10 people if you use the sofa bed in the living room. There were 7 of us, so that was fine. Tony and Pat live on the domain and are always around and helpful if you need anything. The area is very non-touristy, yet very beautiful. Great price/quality balance.

Nice stay, wonderful location and welcoming owners

We stayed at Les Frenes which was just refurbished that time. It was fresh and clean and enough space! The swimming pool and the hottub were very good for relaxing. Also the surrounding is great and the lake at the property is fun. Pat & Kirby were very hospitable and helpful during our stay. Some great sites to visit: Falaise (esp. the Castle), the WWII Memorial Museum at Mont-Ormel, Camembert and Cerza Parc des Safaris (Lisieux).

A lovely Normandy setting near the ferry ports.

A fabulous gite in a beautiful setting, it has recently been upgraded and is perfect for a large group. The pool and hot tub were fantastic and the property, gardens and grounds are well maintained. Tony and Pat were great hosts and we loved Jessie the dog. We had our own outside space and enjoyed barbecues with all the family. Will be back next year.
