A stunning former Ambassador's home in the heart of Carcassonne

La Maison de l'Ambassadeur is the former home of the French ambassador to Finland situated in the Bastide in central Carcassonne. Built during the reign of King Louis IX, it famously acquired its unique Art Nouveau facade in 1910.

Sleeping up to 12 guests comfortably, it has a bar for private use, fully equipped kitchen and 2 generous reception rooms (one with a large dining area) leading out on to a private, secluded garden with outside seating.

The house offers 450 square metres of space for its guests. Featuring high ceilings, intricate plasterwork, marble fireplaces and a sweeping marble staircase, it is an architectural gem. The generous rooms and hallways are testament to its past function as a place for entertaining important dignitaries.

The dining room has enough space for 16 to dine. The interconnecting lounge has plenty of seating, 50" Smart HD TV and bluetooth stereo. The kitchen is equipped with washing machine, drier, dishwasher, American style fridge-freezer, range cooker, crockery, cutlery, glasses and lots of storage space. There is a snug private bar area with seating.

The secluded and shady garden is equipped with barbecue and enough dining space for 12 or more people.

Four bedrooms are en suite with access to balcony space. Two bedrooms share a bathroom. All have air conditioning

The layout is as follows:

Ground floor: Reception room with private bar, kitchen, lounge, dining area, paved courtyard garden with outside seating.

First floor: Two interconnecting double bedrooms at the front, each with balcony overlooking the street and soundproofed internal shutters. They share a generous bathroom and changing area. Two large double bedrooms to the rear; the Marble Suite with an integral shower and the Ambassadeur Suite complete with a roll top free standing bath and ensuite shower, both having access to large private balconies overlooking the garden. All of these rooms have air conditioning.

Second floor: Two bedrooms to the front, one with balcony. Both have en suite bathrooms and sound proofed internal shutters, and air conditioning in each room.

A two bedroom flat with shared bathroom with shower to the rear. These bedrooms (double and small double) can be let for an additional fee of 150 euros per night. They do not have air conditioning.
