Sol du Mazel; is made up of two interconnected gites Rose Barn (3 bedrooms) and Hope Cottage (2 bedrooms).
Sol du Mazel has two, connected, wonderful open-plan kitchen and living areas occupying both ground floors. The well equipped kitchens should have everything you need. Though there are comfortable sofas inside, most people sit under one or other of the two abri to relax and dine outdoors.
Upstairs in Rose Barn there is a double bedroom which can take a cot , a twin bed room (which can also take a cot) and a bunk bedroom with full size beds.
Upstairs in Hope Cottage there is a double bedroom which can take a cot and a twin bed room (which can also take a cot) with two sumptuous single beds.
We make a point of being Child Friendly and have pretty well all the equipment needed for babies, toddlers, kids, tweenies and teenagers, though some of this has been removed if it cannot be safely cleaned to provide Covid-19 safeguarding. Please check with us should you require particular items.
Sol du Mazel, is situated in a most beautiful, quiet, isolated, rural setting, yet it is close enough to the village of St Pompon to take a morning stroll down the age old footpath to the local boulangerie for fresh croissants.
Situated in the Dordogne, near Domme, Daglan and Castlenaud, nestled in 2.5 Ha (4 acres) of its own land the two gîtes overlook a walnut orchard and wild flower and grass meadow. On the other side of the valley the woods are the home to deer and wild boars which can often be seen at dawn if you manage to get up that early.
Rest and relax by the gorgeous 12 x 5 m swimming pool (heated from May through to end Sept - so that it is still pleasant).
Watch the children play on the trampoline, play fort or the climbing frame while the grown-ups might build up the energy to read a book in a hammock or from the shaded gazebo overlooking the meadow.
Later enjoy a barbecue outside sitting under the shade of the abri, or perhaps visit the gourmet restaurant in the village (remember to book). Though it is not yet confirmed whether it will go ahead this coming summer, in previous years, from the end of June to the end of August every Saturday evening the village square and road is taken over by the ‘Marché Gourmand Nocturne’ which can best be described as a street party where everyone is welcome and all sorts of food and drink are available to enjoy.
