The Property

A four-bedroom duplex penthouse with a private rooftop pool in the Castiglione complex in Nueva Alcantara, around 50m from San Pedro beach. It sleeps eight across three levels, with two terraces and an outdoor kitchen and BBQ on the roof terrace. The abundant indoor living space comfortably allows a party of eight to spread out without feeling cramped. The stylish interiors feature a large living & dining room flowing to a balcony, which also connects to the fully fitted kitchen. The rooftop is the centrepiece of the property. The plunge pool looks out over the rooftops of San Pedro toward the Sierra Blanca mountains. There is a large lounge seating area, an outdoor kitchen area and a large gas BBQ. Please note there is no lift to access the apartment. It is three flights of stairs to get to the main entrance door. There are also stairs inside the apartment. If mobility is a consideration for anyone in your group, it is worth bearing in mind before booking.

The Rooftop

The rooftop terrace runs across the full top floor of the penthouse and is set up for spending serious time outdoors. The private pool sits at one end, looking out over the town and toward the mountains. A large corner sofa and lounge seating fill the other end. Between them, the outdoor kitchen has a gas BBQ, sink and preparation area. The terrace gets sun for most of the day. In the evening it catches the last of the light as the sky changes behind the mountains. The rooftop pool is not heated and is best suited for use during the warmer months.

Location — San Pedro Beach and Promenade

The apartment is in the Castiglione complex in Nueva Alcántara, the beachside neighbourhood of San Pedro de Alcántara. San Pedro beach is about 50 metres away, a short walk through the complex and across the road. The beach is wide and generally uncrowded. The sand is darker and slightly coarse, typical of this stretch of the Costa del Sol, and in some areas the shoreline can be slightly stony when entering the water, so aqua shoes can be useful. The seafront promenade runs for several kilometres and connects directly to Puerto Banús to the east. It is lined with beach restaurants (chiringuitos), cafés, cycle lanes and playgrounds. Walking there takes around 40–45 minutes.

San Pedro is quieter than Puerto Banús and is a proper Spanish town with a year-round community, where people live and work as well as visit. Restaurants and supermarkets are within walking distance of the complex.

This location offers easy access to the wider Costa del Sol without being in the middle of the busier areas. The setting lends itself to a simple day-to-day routine centred around the beach, promenade and terrace.

The area has a typical Mediterranean climate with long warm summers and mild winters. Spring and autumn are particularly good for walking, golf and outdoor dining. Winter can bring cooler and occasionally rainy spells, which can surprise some guests.

The entrance is on the middle level, which contains the living and dining area, kitchen and an awning covered terrace overlooking the communal pool and gardens and views towards the sea. The bedrooms are on the level below, reached by internal stairs. The rooftop terrace is above the entrance level, also via internal stairs.



The living room opens onto the lower terrace. The kitchen is separate and fully equipped for a self-catering stay, with its own access to the terrace.

The en-suite master bedroom, featuring a king-size bed, is located on the lower floor and includes a private terrace overlooking the garden and pool. Between the lower floor and the entrance level, there is a split level with three bedrooms, two renovated bathrooms, and a toilet. Two of the bedrooms have twin beds that can be pushed together if needed, while the third bedroom, also with twin beds, is accessible only through one of the other bedrooms.

The Complex

Castiglione is one of the original beachside developments in Nueva Alcantara, well-established and generally quiet. The low-rise, whitewashed buildings are designed in a traditional Andalusian style and set within mature tropical gardens. The buildings are low-rise and there are no lifts. The apartment is on the first floor. If mobility is a consideration for anyone in your group, it is something to bear in mind before booking. The apartments are a mix of holiday homes and permanent residences, giving it a neighbourhood feel rather than a resort feel. The beach, the promenade and the nearest restaurants and cafes are all a short walk away. Castiglione is a no-party urbanisation. Guests are asked to be considerate of neighbours with regard to noise.



Pool Season: The pool is open all year around. Please note that there is no lifeguard on duty.

Who Stays Here

Groups of family or friends looking for a property with a private pool and space to spread out. The rooftop works well for groups of eight who want to eat, swim and spend evenings outside together without leaving the property. The location suits groups who want easy access to the beach and a fully walkable area. The beach and promenade are around 200m away on foot, with restaurants, cafes and supermarkets all nearby. Puerto Banus can be reached along the seafront or in a short drive. A typical day tends to start on the rooftop or at the beach, with lunch at one of the chiringuitos along the promenade. Evenings work well on the rooftop with the BBQ, or at one of the restaurants in town.

This apartment looks even better in real!

All the furnitures are very clean and it’s perfectly equipped. The view from the terrace is very peaceful, and the rooftop is a dream! The walk to the beach is 1 minute and it’s walking distance to Puerto Banús as well. We had a perfect stay and will definitely come back if we visit again.

Fantastic location and wonderful roof terrace.Disappointing with the bedding as we were staying for one month and that if I wanted a change of bedding for our sons beds it would be extra! We were given a change of our bedding only. Every morning at 8.15 there were pipes banging extremely loud in the walls for at least 5 minutes.I feel it was a lot of money to pay and finer details need to be addressed.

Thank you for your feedback. We have checked our maintenance and feedback logs and the banging noise hasn't been reported before. We will keep an eye/ear out for it to see if it persists. Regarding the bed linen it seems to be a case of mis-understanding. It was understood that you were requesting weekly changes of bed linen which would require the cleaners to come to strip the beds, make them with clean bed linen and leave with the old bed linen to wash and get ready for the following week. This of course comes with an extra charge. We are sorry we did not understand correctly your request.

Everything was in excellent order and location was ideal.

Just stayed for a week at the Duplex apartment with a mix of adults and late-teenage boys. Puerto Banus centre is a 30 minute stroll away, Supermarket 10 mins and local beach and restaurants literally on your doorstep. The rooftop pool was a real bonus for everyone. Thomas and his team were always responsive to any questions prior to the holiday and also when staying at the apartment. Would definitely return.

Cromptons Summer Holiday 2022

We stayed in the Penthouse apartment (for the second time) and one of our daughters family had the garden apartment below. Once again the apartment was a real delight to stay in and the complex is excellent. We particularly like the roof top patio with the barbeque and pool which the children loved. The lower patio is also very good with the views over the complex pool towards the sea. We spent many late nights drinking our cocktails. There are many varied restaurants within walking distance and Puerto Banus with its marina, yachts and cars is about a 30 minute walk away. I can thoroughly recommend this complex and the two apartments, Colleen dealt with all my queries prior to the holiday and everything went very smoothly, very easy to deal with. I am sure that we will visit again in the future. The lift to the apartment was a bit erratic and good do with a good service.

Amazing Stay

Location, property and the overall facilities were superb and the rooftop pool and views were simply amazing. We didn't use the communal pool but that looks great too. We will be back!!! The elevator no longer works so its a lot of stairs to get suit cases up and down. This should be explained before renting as it may be difficult for older couples and families with small children. The pool area upstairs is amazing but the grill/drain that captures water around the edge of the pool is sticking up in places and extremely sharp and rusty. They have strategically placed some large stones on it to keep it down but it should be fixed ASAP as it could cause serious damage to bare feet etc. Especially small children etc. Whilst the bedding was okay and clean, it could really be updated and renewed. With some slight finesse and a little money spent it could be superb.

Great location and prestige accomodation

Super location, quiet, lush and beautifully maintained location. Eevrything in walking distance, beach, town, supermarket, restaurants and bars. Easy to walk to Puerto Banus and even Marbella. Communal pools a great size and super clean. Love the roof terrace and pool. It's clear the owners are continually investing and upgrading the property. Very well equipped. BBQ spotless which can be an area over looked. We would re-rent this place in a heartbeat. Some areas need a little TLC, the drain strips around the pool are rusty and the pool steps a little loose. Pool glass could have been cleaner. A little strange that the 'sheets' were basically the empty duvet covers, would have preferred proper top sheets. Shower in main bathroom we could not get truly hot, had to use the other bathrooms. Building lift was out of order (which to be honest did not concern us at all but might other less able guests?). None of the above in any way serious (maybe the pool steps shoudl be attended to) just constructive comment.

Thank you for your feedback. The bed sheets are duvet covers but without the duvet in the summer months because it is too hot to sleep with the duvets. In the cooler months of course the duvets are available to use. For a number of years now all our adverts for Castiglione apartments (except ground floor) mention that there are no elevators in the urbanisation. For the pool area the parts had been ordered already so just waiting for them to arrive (there were delays) and to be fitted. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we do hope to hear from you again soon.

The penthouse apartment was tired and in need of being decorated The cleanliness was not up to what we expected The pool had many tiles missing and we were told they would be fixed but that never happened Many of the dishes were chipped The pictures of the furniture in the apartment was not as we found it There was a problem with the safe that was resolved but only after we missed our trip to Gibraltar as the passports were in the safe and we could not access them The swimming pool was suppose to be cleaned when we were there and we never noticed this happening Instruction book needs to be updated with the right instructions for the equipment in the apartment Lovely complex and nice and quiet stay would have been better if the apartment was clean and decorated to the standard advertised I would advise that the owners update their listing

Thank you for your feedback regarding the new furniture. We are sorry it is not to your taste. There seems to have been a misunderstanding about the pool tiles being fixed during your stay. They can only be fixed once the pool is drained and dried which of course takes a couple of days and as it was only discovered in the morning after the check out of the booking before you there was no time to do it before your arrival. Nor really during your stay unless you were ok with not having the pool to use. As mentioned though on arrival the pool maintenance company does pass by on Wednesday afternoons and if you aren't at home they do enter. So quite possibly you weren't at the apartment when it got cleaned.

Everything was in excellent order and location was ideal.

Just stayed for a week at the Duplex apartment with a mix of adults and late-teenage boys. Puerto Banus centre is a 30 minute stroll away, Supermarket 10 mins and local beach and restaurants literally on your doorstep. The rooftop pool was a real bonus for everyone. Thomas and his team were always responsive to any questions prior to the holiday and also when staying at the apartment. Would definitely return.

Magnificent accommodation

The accommodation has everything you could ever need when holidaying in San Pedro. The roof top pool and outdoor space is the crowning jewel and it makes this accommodation first class. Minor maintenance points including stairwell lighting and stair tiles, also would be good to have both lifts working.

Fantastic Penthouse

As a group of 8 female friends we were absolutely delighted with the penthouse. The rooftop pool and barbecue area are out of this world. The balcony outside the kitchen was beautiful for breakfast. The kitchen is hi tech and has everything you could possibly want. There are several restaurants within a few minutes walk. Marabierta was our favourite for dinner followed by Kala Kalua for lunch by the sea. The only thing we thought would be an improvement would be a hand rail going down the steps at the rooftop pool.
