The Property

The Castiglione Penthouse is a duplex apartment on the top floor of the Castiglione complex in Nueva Alcántara, the beachside area of San Pedro de Alcántara. It has a private rooftop terrace with a plunge pool and about 190m² of interior space across two levels. Sleeps up to 8 guests in four bedrooms. The beach and promenade are about 200 metres away on foot. Most guests are surprised by how close that actually is. Please note there is no elevator to access the apartment. It is about 3 flights of stairs.

The Rooftop Terrace

Most guests end up spending more time on the rooftop than they expect to. It has a private plunge pool (2.5 m x 5 m), a summer kitchen with BBQ, a covered dining area, lounge seating and sun loungers. The views are across the complex gardens and rooftops toward the mountains. It works well throughout the day. A few guests have used it for outdoor working during the day, others for long dinners and late evenings. The sunrises and sunsets from up there are something else.

Location — San Pedro Beach and Promenade

The apartment is in the Castiglione complex in Nueva Alcántara, the beachside neighbourhood of San Pedro de Alcántara. San Pedro beach is about 200 metres away, a short walk through the complex and across the road. The beach is wide and generally uncrowded. The sand is darker and slightly coarse, typical of this stretch of the Costa del Sol, and in some areas the shoreline can be slightly stony when entering the water, so aqua shoes can be useful. The promenade runs along the seafront for several kilometres and connects directly to Puerto Banús to the east. Many guests are surprised that you can walk all the way there along the seafront. It is lined with beach restaurants (chiringuitos), cafés, cycle lanes and playgrounds. Walking there along the promenade takes around 30–40 minutes. San Pedro itself is quieter than Puerto Banús and is a proper Spanish town with a year-round community. Local restaurants and supermarkets are within walking distance of the complex. It is a good base if you want easy access to the Costa del Sol without being in the middle of it. The area has a typical Mediterranean climate with long warm summers and mild winters. Spring and autumn are often particularly good for walking, golf and outdoor dining. Winter can bring cooler and occasionally rainy spells, which surprises some guests.

The apartment is spread across two floors with a large open-plan living and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen and four bathrooms. There is plenty of space for a larger group without it feeling crowded.

Bedrooms and Layout

- Bedroom 1: Master suite with king-size bed, en-suite bathroom and private terrace.

- Bedroom 2: Double room with two double beds and shared bathroom access

- Bedroom 3: Twin room with two single beds and shared bathroom access.

- Bedroom 4: This studio bedroom has its own entrance and en-suite bathroom. It is not internally connected to the main apartment. Guests need to exit the front door to reach it. It works well for adult guests who want some independence, but is not suitable for young children sleeping separately from the main group. Worth knowing before you book, and if you are not sure whether the layout suits your group, just get in touch.



The Castiglione Complex

Castiglione is one of the original beachside developments in Nueva Alcantara, well-established and generally quiet. The low-rise, whitewashed buildings are designed in a traditional Andalusian style and set within mature tropical gardens. The buildings are low-rise and there are no lifts. The apartment is on the first floor. If mobility is a consideration for anyone in your group, it is something to bear in mind before booking. The apartments are a mix of holiday homes and permanent residences, giving it a neighbourhood feel rather than a resort feel. The beach, the promenade and the nearest restaurants and cafes are all a short walk away. Castiglione is a no-party urbanisation. Guests are asked to be considerate of neighbours with regard to noise.



Pool Season: The pool is open all year around. Please note that there is no lifeguard on duty.

The apartment is also popular with golf groups. Guadalmina Golf Club is about 4km away and there are several other courses within easy reach along this stretch of the Costa del Sol. The apartment has space for a group of 8 comfortably, and Thomas can help with local arrangements if needed.

Lots of space! I really enjoyed the outdoor areas, the balcony outside the bedroom after a run in the morning, the balcony on the main floor had sun in the afternoon, and the roof terrace was amazing for working outside during the day. I did quite a bit of cooking both in the kitchen and on the roof. The location is great, quiet and still nearby supermarkets, Puerto Bañus and the fitness center The I/O.

Stunning Penthouse

We recently stayed at this penthouse and could not recommend it more, from its beautiful views to stylish interiors—a great location with lots of restaurants close by and a beautifully maintained complex. Colleen at take a break rentals was so helpful from the initial booking, and on arrival, Vilma was so helpful, showing us around the apartment and giving us all the information we would need. We cant wait to book our next stay!

Perfect penthouse holiday

We had an absolutely fabulous holiday in the four bedroom apartment in Castiglione. Excellent location right beside the beach with lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The apartment itself had plenty of space for 8 adults but the outside areas were where we spent most of our time. The roof terrace has a comfy lounge area, gorgeous dining table, sun loungers and small swimming pool which was ideal for cooling off on the hot days. This was where we would watch spectacular sunrises and sunsets and were even lucky enough to see several shooting stars one night. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and although we experienced a couple of minor plumbing issues, they were very quickly dealt with by Colleen and Thomas and their professional team. San Pedro itself is a fantastic town and a great base if you want to see a bit more of the Costa del Sol. I would highly recommend booking through Take a Break Rentals. A fantastic holiday - thank you!

Very good location and nice place. Penthouse has everything you need even for a longer stay.

You we had a very nice stay! This penthouse is practical and had everything we needed. Small private pool was a nice extra. Location is great, beach and promenade only 5min on foot.

Fenomenal opción familia

Thomas y Colleen muy atentos en todo. La terraza con piscina y barbacoa permite hacer unas veladas estupendas. Habitaciones amplias, camas comodas. Salón muy espacioso y sofá de 10. Aire acondicionado en todas las plantas y muy potente. Cocina con todo lo q puedas necesitar incluyendo lavadora y secadora muy útil en estancias largas. Zona de jardines con unas vistas preciosas al mar.
