"Fairweather Cottage" ist nach dem hölzernen "Ketch" dieses Eigentümers benannt, der nach Avalon segelte! Dieses Tandem-Durchgangszimmer mit drei Schlafzimmern, zwei Badezimmern auf zwei Ebenen (die zweite Etage ist eines der Schlafzimmer und die beiden Badezimmer befinden sich im Erdgeschoss) liegt weniger als zwei Blocks vom Strand entfernt und wurde 2008 komplett renoviert. Teppichboden wurde im April 2019 durch Parkettböden ersetzt. Zwei Flachbildfernseher mit DVD-Playern (darunter ein DVD- / Blu-ray-Player), ein iPod-Player, WLAN, zwei elektrische Kamine und viele weitere Annehmlichkeiten machen dies zu einem großartigen Familienferienhaus. This charming little house is ideally located near beaches and restaurants, making it a great base for exploring Catalina. We stayed here with our 4 children (ages 4–11) and loved the proximity to local attractions. Our only complaint was the noise from the street, which is likely the busiest on the island. Gas-powered golf carts, city dump trucks, tractors, large utility trucks, and taxis frequently speed by on the narrow road, creating significant traffic noise. Fortunately, with so much to do on the island, we spent little time in the house.

Only issue was not enough time on my vacation! If possible maybe a golf cart included with the property wouldn’t hurt but everything is in short distance so it’s no biggie

Family friendly cottage

We’ve booked this house two years in a row! We used the grill daily, it’s a minute-ish walk to the beach, and we ate every meal on the porch. Only slight cons: we couldn’t figure out the dishwasher, had to buy/bring laundry detergent, the tv was confusing to figure out, and the furniture was a little tired. But we’re probably going to book it again for next year, so the pros VASTLY outweigh the cons!

Spring Break

The house was great! There were 6 of us and it was a perfect size. Location was ideal. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio. If the upstairs bedroom had its own bathroom I would 100% rent it again. You definitely have to be comfortable with all the guests staying with you since you have to walk through the bedrooms to get to the bedrooms.

Lovely, updated cottage

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage on Catalina. It was clean, updated, and had a lovely porch. We did encounter a glitch with some recently completed updates, but were compensated for it. Everything was within a short walking distance. We came as a couple — our children grown and nearly flown — but this is a nice place with games and space for a family.

Master swimmers take it to the island!

We were 6 senior women that wanted to swim and hike. We made most of our meals at Fairweather. Nice kitchen, 2 coffee pots, a Keurig and Mr. Coffee (bring basket filters).Von's was a few blocks away for groceries. The house is on a busy street. Now Avalon is filled with golf carts and quite a few full-sized cars but the water was wonderful! The house was spacious for games and dining with a nice indoor/outdoor vibe.

Pros and Cons

We stayed here for two nights. In terms of being close to fun things on the island, the location is great! But the street is extremely busy and very loud. The gas-powered golf carts are LOUD. And, lots of construction and large vehicles pass by. The house itself is super cute and charming, but is in need of a deep clean or maybe some paint and detailing. Lots of scuffs on the walls and wear and tear. It did, however, feel sanitary, and I could tell the regular cleaning crew was on it. Finally, the beds are HORRIFIC. I'm not sure why the mattresses haven't been updated, but they legit felt like the worst kind of 1979 springy, bouncy, just worn out beds. If this place got a deep clean and some new beds (the couch was pretty saggy as well), it would be a 10/10 spot for sure!

Good for disabled

We were looking for a house that would accommodate three people and a relative who has difficulty walking. This cosy cottage met most of our requirements. The biggest asset is the front porch that faces a busy street. This enjoyable addition kept our guest entertained while we were taking advantage of the many Avalon attractions. This porch is so close to the sidewalk that many pedestrians smiled and waved at her and a few even engaged in casual conversation.We ate all our meals outside at the large table provided there. Our other concern that this property met was that a bedroom and bathroom had be on the bottom floor, and that there was easy access into the shower, as opposed to stepping into a tub. Some disadvantages were that there are three steps to enter the cottage from the front and there is no railing. A side entrance is available but the one step to enter is steep. Also the floor is uneven. When approaching from the front, one must walk through a bedroom to access the back two bedrooms. A side entrance is available, however. The steps to the spacious upstairs bedroom are steep. The two available working box fans added to our comfort as it was hot. Although the furniture in the living room was old and uncomfortable, they were covered appropriately and the cottage was charmingly decorated. A land line phone is available in the upstairs bedroom which was very convenient as cell phone service is sporadic.

Close to everything

The location of the property is great! You can easily walk to grocery, restaurants, ferry terminal, snorkeling, and other activities. The house was very clean and comfortable and we ate all our meals at home at the table on the front porch. Even with warm temperatures outside, the house was very comfortable with the provided fans. We didn't have any problems with noise and everyone slept well. The only oddity it that you have to walk through bedrooms to get to the other bedrooms, so this house is best for families and not couples that may want privacy. Access to 2 full bathrooms was very nice. The only think that perhaps would have made our stay better was having beach chairs provided and maybe a couple bikes to use. Totally not necessary, but when we stayed at one of the hotels previously, we had these items provided and we loved it. The bikes really allowed us to explore more of the island without needing to rent bikes and go through that hassle.

Perfect location and floorplan!

We are a family of 6 and the floorplan and bed layout is perfect! The house is equipped with fans and once you open some windows the house stays nice and cool. Waking up in the morning, opening the double doors to the front porch was amazing! The house is located near town and only took a few minutes to get to everything we needed. We cannot wait to return! Convenient family home close to everything in Avalon

This probably is was perfect for four kids and my wife and I. Fairweather is close to everything Avalon had to offer. We enjoyed zip lining, snorkeling, hiking and kayaking in our four days on the island. The porch is amazing. The gas grill was a must! We grilled our dinner just about everyday. We would definitely stay at Fairweather in the future.

Lovely home for the weekend

The place was quaint but had plenty of room for the two of us. Very clean and had all the amenities you would need to cook and relax. Check in was easy. The property is a short 3-5 min walk to the main strip but further enough away to have peace as. Quiet at night. Will try to book property again.
