I will try again to get Verizon to improve the quality of their service, but even our neighbor who is a professor of computer science has been unsuccessful. I recommend coming for the other delights that this reviewer mentions: the beautiful property, setting, and view. Try to leave your work at home; however, if you cannot, be assured that you will be able to access e-mails and use search options. I find I can get work done efficiently, but if your work depends on the exchange and downloading of high volume data files and a super-fast WIFI connection, you may be better off elsewhere or making use of the WIFI connection at the Chilmark Library which is only a few minutes away. Come to a lovely, quiet, secluded spot and disconnect for a while.

I appreciate this lovely review and all the ones posted here. I will look into boosting the WiFi, but it is an on-going issue with Verizon. I use AT&T for my cell-phone service, and it has been generally reliable. When the President stayed in the house below us during the last three summers, Verizon put up a supplementary antenna. It sounds like we need one permanently to improve reception. The beautiful Brickyard Beach is accessible by car [5 minutes], or a fifteen minute walk down the path below the house will lead you through the woods to the beach. No doubt the walk is longer for some, perhaps I trot. Yes, the beach has many gorgeous rocks; it is terminal glacier moraine and the variety is stunning. But the beach also has sand on which to recline and there is much to explore. I like to swim long distance and the generally calm water of the Vineyard Sound is ideal for that and complements my other delight, which is riding the waves on the south side of the island, so come and enjoy our beautiful habitat. When I was on island in the early summer, a splendid buck grazing by the house greeted me each dawn.

It is disappointing to get a review such as this, as we work hard to provide a clean beautiful house for our guests. I offered to trace the odor and set up dehumidifiers, but the renters declined my visit. They told me they had to leave early due to not getting the ferry reservations they wanted. After they left, I discovered my toddler niece, unbeknownst to me, had upended a smoothie in a drawer in the front hall adjacent to the master bedroom, which had bloomed with mold in the damp weather the day the renters arrived. The musty smell was not there when I left the house, but by late evening on that foggy night, it was unfortunately apparent. We live in this gorgeous house except during the brief time we rent it out. I can assure you there are no fleas in the house! The renters had a dog [I do not] that might have brought in mites, ticks, or spiders, which are abundant in our Vineyard woods. I hope any future guests would not decline my offer to attend to whatever situation arises; I could readily have ameliorated the situation. We do not have AC; we provide fans and we are almost always blessed by fresh breezes. This house is worth the price! You will have comfortable rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, a garden with herbs, vegetables, and flowers for bouquets, lovely views, access to an exceptional beach, and miles of hiking trails. Houses with climate-controlled interiors can be found, but if you want a simpler serene sanctuary in the woods, we are the place for you!
