Rockaway Retreat

You and your guests will happily retreat to this single-level cottage in a quiet residential neighborhood just four blocks from both the beach and downtown Rockaway Beach. With a large front porch, back deck, gas barbecue, fire pit, and fully fenced backyard, Rockaway Retreat gives you space to relax outdoors, where you may see deer passing through the neighborhood. The great room inside has a comfy sectional, pellet stove, TV with streaming and YouTube TV, and a collection of DVDs and games, promising cozy evenings together. The fully equipped kitchen has fun beach décor, including a marlin soaring overhead, and a dining table gains plenty of light from the sliding glass door to the outdoors. All the bedrooms have their own TVs, and the king master suite includes a jetted tub. You can walk a short distance to miles of sandy beach and views of Twin Rocks on the horizon. There is a park just down the street, and sporting equipment is provided to guarantee a fun afternoon. Or take time exploring the restaurants and shops in town, where you can catch the Oregon Scenic Railroad steam train to Garibaldi for a fun open-air ride down the coast. Tillamook, Manzanita, Cannon Beach, Seaside, and even Astoria are easy day trips from this convenient, well-appointed cottage. Is fishing on the river, crabbing on the bay, or kayaking on the lakes more your style? You will definitely enjoy the short drive to Netarts, Tillamook, and Nehalem. Wherever you go or whatever you do, you will have a-rockin' good time at Rockaway Retreat!

Communication with the host was fast and easy - immediate response to any questions. The home was lovely and very well equipped. Secure, central location to beach and town services. We all enjoyed our stay.

Great Beach House

This place is great, very nice inside, great fenced backyard with a fire pit, big front porch, and a short walk to the beach. Lots of games and movies to choose from if you feel like staying in, and great restaurants nearby for going out. All around great spot!

Quiet beach location

Wonderful pet-friendly near the beach. We had our small dogs with us. The fenced-in backyard was great to have.The front porch was a pleasure to sit on and the dogs were able to take in the coast air with us thanks to the rolling gate at the front stairs.Thanks so much for sharing your home with us.

Great stay. Loved that there was a tv and thermostat in each room. Loved the game and movie selection. That's it was dog friendly. Sliding gate on nice big front porch. Conveniently located close to everything.

Birthday Celebration

My son ‘s 27th birthday celebration at Rockaway Retreat was fun. Accommodations were perfect for us- comfortable and quiet. Great kitchen - we love to cook together. Fire pit in the back was great. I appreciated hearing the birds sing while plucking my uke! Only disappointment was no hot tub as was advertised on VRBO.

Great location but dirty

This home is located in a great spot. Close to everything you’d want to explore while on Rockaway Beach. But upon arrive we did find many places on the walls with blood. There was even blood on pillows and one of the kids found a very large bandaid stuck to one of the pillows. All the towels were wet in the dryer and the house had a fairly good urine odor. Especially while sitting on the couch, the livingroom really smells of urine that we didn’t even hangout in there. Many dishes in the cupboards had sticky stuff on them and greasy fingerprints. There is a fun little fire pit out back and the jacuzzi tub was a hit. Was a little disappointed at the cleanliness due to all the reviews stating how clean it was during their visits.

Great beach house

We loved this house. Perfect size for 3 couples. Well stocked and designed kitchen that can sit 6 or more people around the great shaped table, although some items are getting kind of old. Easy to get into the house with the code. Great front porch and plenty of parking. Nice fenced back yard and front porch for dogs. The house was very clean. Plenty of room for storing suitcases and belongings in the dressers and closets. Good location near the beach and walkable to the dog races on the 4th of July. We would love to stay there again on future visits.

Excellent Experience

I have nothing but good things to say about this rental. Clean, well provided, overall A+. The only critique i have, is that being 6'5" and 62 years old I would like to have a couple safety bars for toilet and shower. But thats just a personal thing. Would love to do it again sometime.

Rockaway retreat

When we first went inside the house it smelled very lived in, the carpets were very dirty with stains and some urine stains. The main bathroom bathtub was clogged and emptied very slowly. There was no propane in the BbQ. There were 2 carpet runners that curled up on the ends and made it a tripping hazard. The homeowners were stingy with towels and toilet paper and we had to buy supplies .

Was not cleaned

I was messaged that there was an emergency and the property would not be ready until 6 PM that evening my family waited around went to the beach and showed up at 6 o’clock to get cleaned up in order to meet the rest of our family for pre-wedding event when we showed up the house hasn’t been cleaned at all dirty towels and stripped beds and hair everywhere. we needed to get cleaned up. We ended up cleaning the house for an hour and 45 minutes. I was able to get a hold of the property management and they said cleaners would be on their way but at that point it was too late. We had already done it we ended up missing out on our pre-wedding event and family. My parents were pretty upset even my 10-year-old and his friend ended up cleaning out the freezer and fridge the property company is saying they will pay for our dinner that night and reimburse us the cleaning fee, but I’m definitely hoping for a refund since our whole purpose of being at Rockaway Beach was to be with our extended family for their wedding and we were helping put on the wedding events. The property management company did eventually bring clean towels and sheets, but we ended up doing our own lunch date which took hours to do.

Overall a lovely house and good location. There was a random car in the driveway when I checked in around 445 PM (check in time is 4) which was weird and had to look around the house first to make sure no one was in there. Mattress in the master bedroom is worn and sinks into the middle. No air conditioning which generally wasn’t an issue, except at night because the window in the master bedroom opens to the backyard and there is 0 air flow so it got very stuffy and hot. A fan would be a great addition! For dog owners - fenced yard is very convenient, but it is tiny, mostly concrete with only about a 5 foot area of grass for them to do their business. I messaged the host a few days before the trip to see if checkout could be extended from 10 AM to 11 AM as I had a work meeting during that time. They never responded. I messaged again the day before check out and got a generic email response that there were no exceptions during peak season. Understandable, but an earlier response would have been appreciated. Based on the price, I will be looking at alternative places to stay on my next trip.
