We have stayed in The Shire community before in a house two doors down from this one last year. The community is very quiet. We've stayed in other communities cities and it can be quite the opposite. I think the primary reason for this is because the community is established with many Florida residents.The Palace Retreat is very nice and the premises was clean. It also has a south facing pool which means sun all day. We would stay here again. There were a couple of downsides: no pool towels, the seams for the cushions for the pool lounge chairs was undone so they couldn't be used because the stuffing would fall out as such they were just stacked on the pool deck (the chairs could still be used) and only one kitchen towel. Also we wondered how you gained access to the community clubhouse. There was no access code or key provided and no instructions on how to access it. All and all we love the area and it's easy drive to stores, restaurants and golf.We never had to contact FSVH for anything, but in the past they've been quite responsive.
