The Space:

Casa de Playa is a family beach house located in beautiful Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. The large home is directly on the beach of Cerro Gordo and within walking distance of the Cerro Gordo state park which offers miles of trails ideal for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking. Casa de Playa sleeps 21 guests in 8 bedrooms, and has parking for up to 7 vehicles, including a water cistern, washer and dryer, and high-speed wi-fi throughout. All bedrooms have air conditioning. Common areas have fans. The beachfront terrace includes a charcoal grill.



IMPORTANT NOTE: There are security cameras on the premises. All cameras are outside of the property (entrance, terrace, and driveway). There are no cameras inside of the property.



PROPERTY FOR SALE: THE OWNERS OF THIS UNIT HAVE IT ON THE MARKET AND THUS, WE HAVE INCREASED THE NIGHTLY RATE TO AN UNBOOKABLE ONE UNTIL WE HAVE MORE CLARITY ABOUT THE SITUATION. WE HAVE NOT REMOVED THE LISTING BECAUSE WE STILL HAVE ACTIVE RESERVATIONS ON THE CALENDAR AND THE SYSTEM DOESN'T ALLOW US TO REMOVE IT. ONCE THE TRANSACTION IS FINISHED, IF THE NEW OWNERS ARE INTERESTED IN RENTING THE UNIT OUT, WE WILL LOWER THE RATES TO THE NORMAL ONES.



 

LIVING AREA & KITCHEN



Enter Casa de Playa to an open concept grand room with a large sofa, picnic-style dining table, and smart TV - all with gorgeous ocean views. Alongside the grand room is the fully equipped kitchen with Corian countertops, a full-size fridge with a freezer (no ice-maker), and an additional chest freezer to accommodate food for large groups. Outside the grand room, you'll find the beachfront terrace with an additional picnic-style dining table, BBQ (charcoal - included), and gate that opens directly to the sand. 



 

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS



Casa de Playa can accommodate up to 21 guests in 8 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.



The 1st bedroom, located on the first floor, has a king bed and a private bathroom.



The 2nd bedroom, located on the first floor, has a queen bed and has a full bathroom in the hallway that also serves as the first-floor common area bathroom.



The 3rd bedroom, which is the master bedroom, is on the second floor and has a king bed, private bathroom, and terrace overlooking the beach.



The 4th bedroom has a bunk bed with two single beds.



The 5th bedroom has one single bed.



The 6th bedroom has two bunk beds with 4 single beds.



The 7th bedroom has two bunk beds with two full beds and two single beds.



The 8th bedroom has a queen bed. Bedrooms four through eight share 2 bathrooms on the second floor. 



PACK AND PLAY (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY):



We can leave a complimentary Pack and Play at the property upon request. This should be requested upon booking or no later than 5 days before arrival. Pack and Plays are subject to availability.

 



GETTING AROUND & PARKING



The property includes parking for up to five (5) vehicles.



Renting a car is a must when staying in Vega Alta. You will need it to move around to nearby restaurants and shops as well as to explore the rest of the island. 





LOCATION



This spacious beach house is located in Vega Alta. Well known among locals for its excellent location and world-class beach. Vega Alta is an easy 40-minute drive from the airport and has a wide array of dining options nearby.

There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are our top picks:



Explore the local culinary scene with everything from local Puerto Rican food to excellent Italian and Asian options.

Road trip to the Dorado public beach. This beach is a 5-minute drive away, is almost a mile long, and has various beachfront restaurants and bars. It is great for beachcombing. 

Shop at the Barceloneta Outlets, a 30 min drive away with great shopping and dining options.

Spend a day in Old San Juan, a 30 min drive away and the oldest city in all of the US.

Hike the Cerro Gordo state park. The entire loop is 3 miles long and takes about an hour and fifteen minutes to hike. You should hike in the opposite direction to the mountain bikers and use a trail app such as "alltrails".

STARTER AMENITIES



At West Indies Vacation Rentals, we strive to provide top-notch amenities, ensuring our guests feel at home during their stay.



All properties come with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach towel per guest.



We provide a set of disposable essentials to help you get your vacation started comfortably. These include:



- 1 set of hotel-size soap and shampoo (per bathroom)

- 3 garbage bags

- 1 roll of paper towels

- 2 rolls of toilet paper (per bathroom)

- 1 dish soap

- 1 dish sponge

- A small amount of laundry detergent



Please note that we do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is the guest’s responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock any additional items needed for the duration of the stay.



Most properties also include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler. You may reach out to us 5 days before arrival for confirmation.





HOUSE RULES



RENTAL AGREEMENT: All bookings require a signed Short-Term Rental Agreement, which will be sent upon confirmation of your reservation. Guests must upload a valid photo ID (no selfies) that matches the name on the credit card used for the booking. The agreement must be signed within 48 hours of booking or prior to entering the property, whichever comes first. Check-in instructions will not be provided until the agreement is completed.



NO SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. A $500 smoking fee will be charged if this rule is violated.



NO PETS: While we are pet lovers, pets are not permitted at the property at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if this rule is violated, and guests may be asked to leave the property.



QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please be mindful of noise during these hours out of respect for nearby residents/neighbors.



UTILITIES (WATER & ELECTRICITY): In the event of an interruption to water or electrical service, the host is not responsible for hotel, alternate lodging, or transportation expenses. If service is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests may cancel the reservation and request a refund for unused nights only. Nights already used are non-refundable.



MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The maximum occupancy is 21 adults/children at all times, including visitors.



OCCUPANCY ENFORCEMENT: Occupancy limits are strictly enforced. Exceeding the maximum occupancy may result in immediate cancellation of the reservation or removal from the property without refund.



TOWELS & LINENS: Towels and linens are provided for normal use only. Please do not use them for cleaning or allow them to be stained with food, grease, or other substances. Charges may apply for damaged or stained items.



TOWEL HANGING: Please do not hang towels or any other items to dry in areas visible from outside the unit. A $100 community fine may apply if this rule is violated.



SUBLETTING: Subletting or re-renting the property is not permitted.





CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT TIMES



Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and since this is a self-check-in unit, you can arrive anytime after that.



If you’d like to check in earlier, please contact us the day before your arrival, and we’ll confirm availability. When possible, early check-in typically starts around 11:00 AM. Please note that early check-in is subject to availability and depends on our cleaning schedule.



If you need a guaranteed early check-in, you will need to book from the night prior to ensure the property is ready upon your arrival.



Check-out time is at 11:00 AM. For late check-out requests, please reach out the day before your departure, and we’ll be happy to check availability for you.





TRAVEL INSURANCE / HURRICANE SEASON



We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, not only during the peak months of Hurricane Season (July to October) but also throughout the year to cover unexpected events such as travel delays, pandemics, or other unforeseen issues.



Travel insurance is inexpensive and can reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, coverage will depend on the policy purchased. Make sure to review and understand the options before purchase.

Beautiful beachfront location and an exceptional home

This was our second time renting the property with our group of 21 and it, once again, exceeded our expectations. The beach access, the comfortable living spaces, well appointed kitchen, air conditioned sleeping rooms, comfortable beds and cleanliness was all top notch. The property is in a great location and the set up for all the rooms and bathrooms is perfect for a large group. We cannot say enough good things about this property and look forward to staying again in the future. Kevin, the property manager, was also exceptional with cordial check-ins and prompt responses to questions or needs we had during out stay. Thanks for a great week in Puerto Rico!

Very Disappointed

I rented this house for my family, and it was a huge disappointment. The listing grossly misrepresented the property, claiming it could sleep 21 when it barely fit 15 because of roof leaks. The condition of the house was appalling—multiple rooms had severe ceiling leaks, black mold in the bunk room closest to the stairs, and visible water damage on walls throughout. When the maintenance guy arrived, he claimed the issues were new, but the damage clearly showed long-term neglect. The roof needs immediate repair or replacement; the house is not habitable in its current state. One bunk room that was leaking had standing water on the floor, another bunk room had water leaking into the light fixture and close to the outlet and completely saturated the top bunk with water, and the kitchen ceiling was leaking throughout our stay. I wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone, especially if you have allergies. This was truly an unacceptable experience and should not be rented until major repairs are made. I recommend you stay away from any property that West Indies rents given the condition of this property.
