This condo is in a great location for enjoying the beach and we appreciated the views (including a great fireworks display on NYE). We were there in the winter so we weren’t able to take full advantage of the beach amenities but we still had a few great walks and watched the sunset. The adult beds were very comfortable and it was very quiet. The downsides were the late check-in and early check-out and a few small maintenance issues. Also, the condo is multi-level with stairs required to get from the entrance to the living area, then steps up to the bathroom and two bedrooms, and another staircase to the master bedroom. They weren’t full flights but still important info that wasn’t in the description. A few other small things could’ve been more clear in the description (the grill isn’t at the condo but where the pool is, too far for us to use) or in the instructions (how to use the HVAC and how to charge the TV remote). But overall we had quite a nice stay and would recommend.

We had a wonderful family filled weekend at Amelia Island! The condo was perfect! It is very homey and had everything we needed! The view was amazing! While we were oceanfront, It was a trek to the beach but well worth it! The beach was stunning! Sterling was easy to communicate with and provided lots of details! We hope to come back soon!

Memorial Day week

We’ve been coming to Amelia for 17 years and staying in the Plantation. This is a Nice relaxing condo, with beautiful views and close access to everything. The elevator wasn’t working the entire trip and we had an issue upon check in, however the Host was very cordial and professional about it and is making it right with us. Great family friendly atmosphere!

Wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay at this condo. The condo itself was clean, and just the perfect size. Nice beds, and lots of pillows. Amazing view! The location was perfect, felt very safe, and family friendly. We also brought our little dog, and he lived his best life!! We loved the board walk, seeing the tortoises, then nice white sand, the view, etc. would definitely come back.

We had an excellent stay at this property. The unit had everything we needed and more, including beach tote, umbrella, and five beach chairs. The accommodations are very spacious and comfortable. We did not encounter any issues during our stay. Our host was very responsive to questions before our stay and sent very detailed instructions and information about the area. We highly recommend and plan to stay again. The only negative of the unit would be if you have limited mobility or small children as the unit is four levels, first entry way/laundry, second kitchen and living, third two guest rooms and bathroom, and main bedroom/bathroom at the top. Views of the beach and pool are fabulous from the main bedroom and living/kitchen areas. The pool and ocean are easily accessible but a pretty good walk when carrying all your beach gear.

Less than desirable dealing with host and outdated unit

This was a much less desirable visit than I would’ve hoped, given the points mentioned in the following summary. I’ll say one good thing for it: the condo has a nice view of the beach. But read on because there are plenty of other places on Fernandina Beach that also have nice views and likely don’t have these issues: 1. Lack of consideration for guests. Less than ten days after booking the condo and making the first payment, the host contacted us to ask if we were still planning on staying there because they had others interested in it for those dates. I thought this rather off-putting, given that we had already booked it and put money down on the place. Upon arriving at the gate, we found that the security guard did not have our names on the list. She searched for a while, and in the end was gracious enough to let us through based on an email I showed her. 2. Badly in need of repairs and updates. Nearly every door would stick and make a loud noise when opening. Not very conducive for good sleep during the night when you have more than one family there. The master bedroom and bathroom doors would barely shut at all. And the sliding glass door to the balcony was very hard to open and made a loud screeching noise when it did. Seems this is not a recent issue. A review from 2017 and others says similar things. Towel racks kept falling off. Turns out this is not a new issue for this unit either as another review from 2017 pointed out. Several blinds were missing in two of the rooms, which made it impossible to sleep in. Unless you want to watch Fox News, you’re not watching TV downstairs. There was no changing it. And the remote for the TV upstairs didn’t work at all. 3. Wrangling about refundable pet deposit. Before we booked the place, I asked in the inquiry chat if the pet deposit was refundable, and the host said that it was. After our stay, we didn’t see that it had been refunded so I messaged the host asking when we could expect to receive it back. The host’s response was that they didn’t have our deposit but that we should check with VRBO. I did that and, of course, VRBO said the host should refund it. I wrote the host back, but we didn’t hear anything for three days. So I called VRBO, and they touched base with the host and apparently convinced them that they needed to refund it. Granted we did get the deposit refunded, but only after we informed VRBO about the situation.

If your looking through the reviews, you'll notice either this property gets 1 star or 5. It is either filthy or great, so I thought I would explain. Location: GREAT. Very safe, private, and absolutely stunning. There is a small driving range on the property, so the kids got to practice their "hole in ones". There are condos on the property that are much closer to the ocean as this unit sits back behind the swimming pool. However, you can hear the ocean from the unit. This is just an old unit that needs to be updated. Some of the needed repairs that the owners are aware of are very expensive. Example- the windows as mentioned in other reviews. None of the windows are able to be opened properly. To open them, we had to remove the screens and force the windows open. The sliding glass door to the balcony needs replaced. The boys had opened it for me and left to go to the ocean. It got hot in the condo and when I went to close it, I physically could not. It is most likely something the owners are not looking at repairing. The door to the upstairs bedroom- I got up around 2:00 am and when I opened the door, it scraped against the floor and made a horrendous sound that woke up everyone in the unit. The door just needs to be re-hung and shimmed out properly- a relatively low cost fix. Again, other reviews have mentioned this, so it is just something the owners are not ready to repair at this time. Was it clean? It is the kind of clean that you do quickly. If you run your hand on the counter top, it will be clean, but if you run your hand along the backsplash, be prepared for grime and gross. The bedspreads need cleaned, the bed skirts are dirty. I imagine the bed skirts have not been cleaned since they were initially placed years ago. Get rid of them. No bedskirts are better than filthy bedskirts. The decor selected is just difficult to clean. Flower arrangements get horribly dusty. I'd get rid of them. Levour closet doors are horrible to keep clean and collect dust and filth. Get rid of them and put in modern flat doors. Wicker- an impossible material to keep dust off us, remove wicker furniture and replace with modern flat furniture. The chairs in the dining room are grooved. There was koolaid that had been spilled prior to us that was all over the back of the chair. Again, impossible to clean all of those grooves. In summary- the unit just needs to be deep cleaned and some $ needs to be spent on maintenance.

Nice week away

We enjoyed our stay at the condo. Sterling was quick to respond and provided a lot of information for our stay. The condo was a perfect size for our family. The kitchen was well equipped, a short walk to the pool and beach, and it was clean. As mentioned in other posts, the sliding glass door is tough to open and close, but we didn’t let it bother us. Comfortable and relaxing!

Amazing Ocean View

I loved the amazing view of the ocean, pool, and natural landscaping! This truly was the most spacious Villa/condo that I have ever rented. In the evening the large, expansive pool has lovely night lighting. The Villa has a large living area and dining area with balcony. Three bedrooms are on the next 2 levels. Absolutely wonderful location on Amelia Island!

The unit needs some repairs done. We could not close any of the bedroom doors and the master bath shower door did not function well. While I appreciated all of the information sent earlier, it was confusing when all we needed was the access code. In addition, my name was spelled wrong so we had trouble entering. We have been renting units in the Resort since the 1970s and this was not the best experience.

Can't beat the location!

Overall, I give the location of the condo an A+ and interior a B-. You can't beat the ocean views, the access to the pool and beach. The inside is comfortable but a bit dated. We had 8 in the condo and were a bit cramped. The biggest issue is the small bathrooms. The condo is definitely worth the price and we'd return to this rental again.

From the booking to the check out everything was flawless! We all enjoyed every second of our stay, the owner and the housekeeper were very responsive to all of our needs! I really enjoyed using BOTH of the balconies and the sight and sound of the ocean!!!

Family get away

We had a fantastic time at the beach which was just a short walk. The pool will look stunning when it’s completed and hope to come back and relax again at Amelia Island.

“Ok stay”

I rated my family’s overall stay as a 3 because of two main factors. 1. We were highly disappointed with the cleanliness of the property. There were literally long brown hairs on every square inch. From the beds, pillows, floors, walls, showers, dining table & coffee tables... disgusting! My son even opened a puzzle box to complete a puzzle only to find more long dark hair inside the box! The balcony looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in forever. There was even old food left in the refrigerator from the previous guests. The whole place seemed to be extremely dusty and not cleaned throughly. This made our stay quite uncomfortable. 2. However, even more disappointing than the cleanliness of the condo was the fact that the description of the condo stated that the place would have a newly renovated pool by April 5. The website STILL says April 5th to this very date on the pool remodel. It’s JUNE and the pool still isn’t even close to being finished and the owner did not communicate this info to us at all. We rented trusting the description of the April 5th deadline believing to have a newly renovated pool. Arriving in June and realizing that the pool was nowhere near to completion was highly upsetting to say the least. The owner never made mention of the delayed pool reno. Had we known the true info, we would have never even considered renting this place. We had five very upset and disappointed children. Spending so much money on a once a year trip to the beach is a big deal to our family. We rented with trust and high expectations and were heavily let down.

Large condo overlooking ocean

We had a good stay. Plenty of room for family of 5. Nice to be a short walk to the beach and good views from the unit. The pool is under renovation and was closed. Condo had most everything you need.

Sterling & Nancy live in the north metro Atlanta where they raised a family of 5 children and enjoy Ameila for week long vacations, as well as quick getaways and weekends. We have traveled the world to exotic beach resorts including Hawaii, Thailand, Australia, NZ, Brazil and the south of France along the Mediterraean. We found them all good, not better than Amelia, just different.

When deciding on a beach home, we visited many coastal communities along the gulf, as well as along the Atlantic from South Carolina, GA to South FL. We chose Amelia and glad we did. The hotel here is beautiful but we found it was so much more comfortable, relaxing, and intimate with family and friends to have a Villa, Condo or House.

We and our children (and now young grandchildren) are glad to call Amelia our beach second home and hope you will enjoy as well. Fourohfor/fiftyfiveone/twentyfiftyto

The best Direct View - We enjoy having morning coffee on the balcony overlooking the ocean and pool watching the sunrise and morning evolve for a fun day at the beach.

Easy Beach Access - The Beach "where you put your toes in the sand" is close about 80-100 yards easy walk along a meandering boardwalk with the pool about half way along the boardwalk with a restroom should the need arise for a quick stop to or from the beach/pool. The walk is easy for children, and adults carrying all the "stuff" that goes to the beach. You will appreciate the freshwater showers along the boardwalk to rinse the salt and sand from you or your beach “stuff”. There are beach chairs /umbrella and beach toys provided.

Remodeled NEW Kitchen in 2022 - light and airy kitchen open to the living area and balcony with an inspiring view of the Atlantic & pool.

Privacy and Security - Once you enter the gates of the Plantation, you can leave your car keys behind. The Plantation has everything you need including a Market and myriad of dining venues from casual, to romantic dining. Children can roam and play without parent worries about security.

Pool with an Ocean View - Pool large expansive multilevel decks. There are many private areas allowing sun and shaded areas directly adjacent to each other allowing your group to have a private space with sun/shade

Grilling with a view – A phenomenal grilling area with a view of the ocean is ideal for grilling your burgers, steaks, fish or whatever you desire while enjoying an ocean view.

The close proximity to historic old Fernandina Beach is a special treat. Here you will find 19th century brick streets, unique antique architecture, along with an abundance of quaint shops, a variety of restaurant options, cultural and entertainment options.

We and our children love the nature center, miniature golf, Segways, boat launch, riding bikes on the miles of trails and watching the sunsets at Walkers landing while crabbing for a crab boil.

We are on the second floor providing a most breathtaking ocean view patucularly as compared to ground floor or off the beach options. There is an elevator but we usually just run up the stairs since its just one floor.

We have beach chairs and bikes, just ask. We are members of Amelia River Golf Club, ask us about discounted golf and playing and advance T-time privileges, we will glad to arrange.

Covered Parking - Our Villa offers dedicated covered parking with a short covered walk to stairs or elevator keeping you dry and protected during rain or storms.

We provide an info package with your rental providing unique insights into the many dining & recreation options based on our 20+ years here.

Finally don't forget about the on site Spa is beyond compare!
