Property is not well maintained

The location is great however the condo has not been maintained property. There was difficulty finding the key and we had to leave the key in the door even when we left the property. The door is totally off to the front closet, just leaning against the wall. The electrical outlets do not work in the upstairs bathroom, so no hair dryer, etc. can be used. There was NO heat in the master bedroom, it was only 50 degrees, not a suitable temperature for an infant. This was unit 60, I never want to be in that unit again. Thank you, Tami Brown 574-292-6797

Hi Tami, we take guest feedback seriously and passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following: -You reached out to us during your stay regarding some minor cleanliness concerns and that the bedroom closet didn't close all the way. -We also provide two space heaters. With both running, the room quickly becomes far warmer than the rest of the unit. -We feel your claims in this review are fabricated and come from frustration due to not receiving the reimbursement you wanted. -We support guests and do give refunds when appropriate. Evolve assists with any refunds, and can also be reached during your stay with any questions or concerns.

Tired & needs some attention

Beds were comfortable & clean. The rest of the place not so much. The master bedroom was very cold - 55 & the main floor was cold even after adjusting all thermostats - never going above 65. The TV location is above table which is nearly impossible to see from the living area. The kitchen was dirty & we decided not to cook on-site - going out for food is what we did. The refrigerator had a lot of the owner’s food in it. The towels were definitely old & need replacing. There were used and half full beer cans left in kitchen. Overall the place needs some attention. Closet doors are missing or hard to open.

We've stayed in Harbor Springs and, specifically, Harbor Cove a number of times. We love the area and the unit in which we stayed was very nice. It was updated and had more amenities (appliances, spices, games, etc.) than we are used to. We definitely would stay here again.

Beautiful beach & pool, updated condo but not maintained

Harbor Cove is a beautiful, family friendly condo association, in walking distance to a beautiful beach and beach house, close to a pool and playground, both onsite. This #60 condo was updated, but many things were not maintained, and per the previous reviews have been broken for at least 2 years. Front door handle is still broken and electrical outlets in both full baths are not operational. Closets are cluttered with miscellaneous cleaning products, etc. We would have expected they would have relocated the TV to a spot that can be more easily viewed if they listened to other renters previously. Our toddler tried about 20 positions to see his favorite movies and failed to get comfortable . 🙂 They have a beautiful deck with gross seating - moldy hunting chairs, so it was disappointing not to be able to use it. We tried to contact the property manager by phone and multiple texts with no reply. I would have expected that even if the advertised kayak rental/availability was not an option, that he could have at least responded with that answer. We will definitely go back to Harbor Cove, but will look for a different condo for next time.

Great Harbor Cove Stay

This is a great condo in Harbor Cove. The living space is nicely updated, the unit was clean and perfect for our family of 5. Harbor Cove has a very nice beach and is close to Harbor Springs and Petoskey.

The property was okay, there were pros and cons to the place. I don’t know that we would come back.

It was a good stay, not to many problems with the property, had a very hard time contacting the host, when the gas man showed up to shut the gas off, never heard from the owner at all and thank goodness when I contacted the gas man myself and explained that we were renting the agreed not to shut the gas off while we were there. A little information on how to get in the front door would have been nice. We struggled when we first got there to get it open. The only other complaint we had was the tv isn’t in a very good place, it would have been okay there if it was on a swivel but it was just mounted to the wall with no movement. Other then that our stay was nice, the place was clean and quiet and comfortable.

No response from VRBO or property owner

Great location, great overall set up and layout, but the front door nor side door locks worked. The front door handle did not work at all and you could not lock the side door, so you could not lock the house when out and about. Over all needs to be cleaned, lots of left over food and supplies. Seemed disheveled. We could not get the heat to work for the first few hours and called VROB and property owners with no response. There were supposed to be two parking passes, but only came with one. No phone numbers worked for the property owners. The one that did connect, the VM was full. The TV location is very poor. We had a few closet doors just fall off there tracks. In general the owners are not keeping the place up and you can tell. It is ashame, as it has great potential. My wife and I slept in the front room and when others came in after dinner, they had to walk through the bedroom to get in the house because the front door does not work. Heat in the front bedroom also did not work so we used a portable heater they had available. I wish that would had been in the online add.

Great location

We enjoyed our time here. The place was nice and had most things you would need for your stay. The host communicated quickly when needed. The only negatives were the tv being mounted on the dining room wall instead of the living wall, which made watching it a little difficult, and the front door lock was not working and we had to use the door on the side and enter through the master bedroom. Both really small issues. We would stay here again, for sure!

It was clean and the check in and any questions needed to be answered were handle with efficiency! We didn't like that there was no air but what was worse was the description said each room had ceiling fans, the master room did, the other queen bedroom had a floor fan mounted on the ceiling in the corner that didn't work! and it was hot! the 3 rd bedroom had a BIG air conditioner on the floor with a hose to the window which let a million little bugs in! Also it has beautiful furniture to watch TV yet the TV is mounted over the kitchen table which made it very uncomfortable, it needs to be mounted over the fireplace! The beach was beautiful, and so was the outdoor pool. All in all it was good just a bit backwards for the price they are charging.

Summer Get Away

The property was nice, but our unit wasn't the cleanest. There was syrup on the floor in the dining area. We did not appreciate being kicked off the fire pit at 10pm. We felt that was a bit too early. Other than these two items, the stay was fantastic.

Forested paradise

Not a new property, as listed, but newly renovated, nicely appointed, contemporary, and clean. The location is stupendous -- feels like you're in a state park, not a condo complex. Couldn't ask for a more beautiful stretch of beach, and being private, not many people (nice bathrooms on site). Can't comment on clubhouse, since it was closed due to Covid, but all looked to be as pictured. The location is perfect for quick trips into Charlevoix, Petosky, and Harbor Springs -- all great places to shop and eat. The listing should probably be corrected -- there is no air-conditioning, but evidently none of the units have it. There is a portable air-conditioner, but it is not vented to the outside, so it's basically useless (although outside of one very hot night, the other nights were fine just having the windows open). There were wall fans in the upstairs bedrooms, but they did not work; also the bathroom outlets did not work. There is one TV in the unit, but no cable outlet in the main room, only in the master bedroom. That being said, our girls' trip was the best ever, and if the above problems were corrected, we would definitely be back!

Fix a few things, and get more stars

This rating can be higher if the owner addresses a few simple things. This is a nice condo with an updated master bath and kitchen, with very high-end appliances. We arrived after a massive thunderstorm had gone through the area, and power was out in many areas, but thankfully not in our condo. But it was HOT and HUMID. We went to turn on the air conditioning, and quickly discovered that the VRBO listing is false—the condo has no air conditioning. I called Michael and he explained the condo did not have air conditioning as advertised, but he had a portable air conditioning unit he would bring over. A few hours later, Michael arrived with a portable A/C unit which was clearly just purchased. It was up to me to install this unit and rig up an exhaust system through the backdoor slider. This unit cooled the downstairs, but not the upstairs bedrooms. We also complained about the cleanliness: the shower was still dirty from the previous renter…Trista stopped by with Michael but she didn’t really do anything, so we cleaned the shower ourselves. The upstairs bedrooms have wall-mounted fans for cooling—one didn’t work but that bedroom had a portable box fan. While we were there, the wall-mounted fan in the other bedroom quit working. Thankfully by then the weather had gotten cooler so it wasn’t as necessary. About 24 hours into our stay, the circuit for the air conditioner stopped working, but the breaker wasn’t tripped. Michael came over with an extension cord so we could plug into another circuit, and summoned an electrician…Michael called later and explained we had too much plugged into the circuit, which in fact was just a TV and the air conditioner…anyway, the circuit was fixed pretty fast. Other things to note that just need improvement—very simple things. There are no towel hooks in the master bath and no toilet paper holders. There is no iron/ironing board as listed. There was no flat sheet on one of the beds, and Trista brought over a new sheet the next day after we discovered this. Michael and Trista were very responsive to calls and messages, which were frequent in our first few days. Here is what needs to happen to improve the rating: the property description needs to be accurate: The lack of A/C was a big deal and has been noted in previous comments. It needs to be clean. The lockbox needs to be fixed or accurately described. It needs an iron/ironing board.

The HOA will not approve a central air-conditioning installation; however, there are large portable AC units on each floor. These double as tankless dehumidifiers and there are air purifiers on each floor too. - There are now ample towels for each bathroom and a fully stocked kitchen. - We have added extra sheet sets and pillowcases for all three bedrooms, and the fans upstairs are in working condition. We keep additional fans available in the storage closet if a guest wishes to use them. -We take cleanliness very seriously. We spend anywhere from 4 to 8 hours after each guest departs to ensure that the next person arriving will feel as if they were the first ones to use the unit. - The satisfaction of our guests is paramount. Any questions that a guest has during their stay are answered promptly, and any requests or special accommodations, within reason, are fulfilled to the best of our ability. We hope that you will consider visiting Harbor Springs again and staying with us. We believe you will find it a much more enjoyable trip when such basic matters are not an ongoing concern. Harbor Springs family vacation.

The condo was clean & beautifully decorated. It was a great location that was about 5-10 minutes from downtown Harbor Springs & 15 minutes to downtown Petoskey. The condo complex has a gorgeous private beach walking distance from the condo. Our family enjoyed our stay & would book again in the future.

Great weekend stay

Wonderfully updated condo and super clean. We would have liked to have had more bath towels, but were only there for a short time so did not call. No air conditioning as noted in the description, but ceiling fans made it comfortable. It would have been nice to have a tv in the family room, not just master bedroom. We would stay again for sure!

Fraudulent and bad service

I will be disputing the charges for this rental due to the following fraudulent advertising. The lock box didnt work for my combination i was given. The front door handle was broken and had to get in a different door. There was no wifi or tv as advertised and when we notified the owner they gave us the runaround and fed us with lies. Only 3 towels for 4 guests. The upstairs shower didnt work. Not a very good experience AT ALL

We've gone over each of your concerns with the homeowner and would like to share the following: - Guests have access to the community Wifi that extends to the outdoor amenities like the pool and tennis courts - Local TV is also available - The only issue you reached out about during and after your stay was the internet and TV, and the owner did everything they could to get the cable company out that weekend - They have confirmed that there are plenty of towels at the condo - They also made sure that there were no issues with the front door We know how important it is for guests to arrive at a property that is as advertised. After working with the owner, we are confident that the condo is represented correctly and that future guests can look forward to a great stay!
